I called nats vs astros after nats got lucky vs my brewers.Grats to the Nats. I will just say i think the Nats are in for a really really tough World Series opponent

I would think Washington fans are hoping for new york. Astros pitching is pretty crazy, but then again they are wildly inconsistent on offense. They put up 15 runs one game, then take 6 or 7 games just to get 15 in total again.

Astros pitching , in particular Gerrit Cole, is just unbelievable. I have never seen a pitcher, pitch as well as he has for this long. Since May 27th he is 18 and 0 w a 1.59 era!!!!
And you said the astros offense is inconsistent..i totally disagree. The YANKEES are inconsistent. The astris have been pretty solid in offense.
Of course the Nats are hoping for the Yanks. Its going to be a great workd series.

I agree that the Yankees are too. Astros have been out scored in the playoffs in total. I was just meaning they have to rely on the pitching too much. I felt the same about the dodgers, and look what happened to them. Not to take away from the win against the dodgers. It was clutch play to even push them to extras before that grand slam.

Round one of the world series goes to the Washington Nationals. We beat the Astros 5-4 last night in Houston. I had no idea that the series could be so stressful I actually told myself to breathe!. Soto had a great night with a single, double and homer against starting Astros pitcher Cole who had not lost a game since May. 35 year Ryan Zimmerman had a home run also. Washington got 5 innings from Max Scherzer, came in with Corbin, Rainy, Hudson and Doolittle for innings 6-7-8 and 9. I cannot believe that we are actually there. Washington has won 7 games in a row and 17 of the last 19. Another great pitching matchup tonight with Strasburg going against Verlander.

Ok , the Nats got to Cole. Not only a surprise, but all but unthinkable. The guy never loses and they shelled him. Great team, great guys (except Soto), and they have Wunderkind Strasburg on the mound tonight. Go Nats and long live the NL East!

Holy Cow! Washington beat the Astros 12-3 last night to go up 2-0 in the World Series. Strasburg and Verlander were in a 2-2 pitching duel until the 7th when Kurt Suzuki had a solo home run to made the score 3-2. Then the damn broke and Washington ended up with 5 more runs to make the score 8-2. Houston was in a hole that they could not climb out of. Washington got a few more runs and Houston added one in the 9th for the 12-3 final. We have a day of rest today as the teams travel to Washington for the next 3 games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This city is going to be nuts with excitement on Friday. Can't wait.

Back to earth. Washington lost to Houston 4-1 last night to close the won lost gap to 2-1 in favor of Washington. The Nat's could not get the timely hit and left plenty of runners in scoring position. Today Corbin is pitching for Washington and Urquidy for Houston. Nat's really need this win to take a 3-1 lead.

With the Astros win last night the series is tied 2-2. Now the series is a best of 3 contest. 2 wins will do it. Crazy. Tonight the Nationals have Max Scherzer going against Cole again. It should be a great duel. After tonight the series returns to Houston.

I'm not a fan of involving politics in sports, when they started chanting lock him up, I was done with the game. Sports is for entertainment, to escape bs like politics, religion, cultural differences, the doom and gloom of the news. When it goes into any of those pockets, I'm done with it. I won't cheer against them, but I'm sure as hell won't be cheering for them anymore.

Last night the Nationals lost to the Astros 7-1 in Washington. The loss puts the Nat's in a big hole. Play is returning to Houston for the final 2 games with Strasburg going against Verlander Tuesday night in game 6. Washington's bats need to wake up.

Crazy game 6 last night in Houston. Stephen Strasburg pitched a gem of a game into the 9th inning and only gave up 3 hits. Doolittle came in from the bullpen for the final 2 outs. Houston's Verlander was chased out in the 5th inning. Washington won the game 7-2 to force game 7 in the fall classic we call the world series. Plenty of drama over a call made that Turner had interfered with the first baseman. 4 and a half minutes of drama and the umpires called Turner out. Terrible, terrible call.that will be talked about for years. Soto, Eaton and Rendon homered for Washington and Rendon had 5 RBI's. Tonight will be the final chapter of this years World Series. Max Scherzer and others will pitch for Washington and Greinke for Houston. Lets hope that the game does not provide any more controversial issues.

OMG, one hour to playball and I'm as jumpy as a cat at a dog show. I know that this game is going to be very emotional for me. I've been following Washington baseball for about 65 years, and nothing of this magnitude has ever happened.

Last night in Houston the Washington Nationals did something amazing. They won the World series for the first time in 95 years! The Nats won all 4 of their world series games on the road against the greatly favored, talented, Houston Astros. Stephen Strasburg was appropriately named series MVP. Like all of the other National wins in the series, Washington was behind late in the game and somehow found a way to win. Max Scherzer pitched 5 innings and was relieved by Patrick Corbin who came in and got 9 critical outs. Daniel Hudson closed out the 9th inning. The Nats got the lead at 3-2 and never looked back, ending with a 6-2 triumph that rocked this city. I watched all of the after game programing till 1AM.
I'm tired but very, very happy. Saturday will be celebration day in Washington with a parade to celebrate the victory. Washington Finished the Fight!
