DJ & the Back

So if rumour is correct I'd expect to see DJ withdraw from Wells Fargo shortly claiming that the back still isn't right. I can't see what other story they can run with now. Then to be followed by that announcement of back surgery and out for the rest of the season. We shall see I actually hope I'm wrong.

We shall soon see, Fig. I'm intrigued by the possibility.

It's not Thursday, and he hasn't teed off yet, but Dustin Johnson is apparently going to play the Wells Fargo.
http://www.cbssports.com/golf/news/...s-odds-dustin-johnson-returns-but-can-he-win/

Well he's playing so maybe my info wasn't right:eek:, but the way he pulled out of the Masters still stinks, any normal person would at least play a few holes and see how the back went.
I don't know maybe the PGA thought that missing the Masters was enough of a sanction.

From what I can see on tv, I really like the new location of this year's Wells Fargo. Beautiful course, glad the weather is so nice and bright to show it off. Will miss Quail Hollow though, have been there maybe five or six times and enjoyed the experience. Looks like the finish will be jammed up with some great golf.

Glad for Poulter

Was pulling for Poults on Sunday. Looks like he will now easily keep his card for next year. It was a shame he couldn't put a bit more pressure on the winner, although finding that island green was pressure enough. The Open Champion Stenson messed it up two days in a row amongst others.
I currently live in the same town in Bedfordshire UK as Poulter grew up and know well 'that proshop where he used to sell balls'... I am only 7 miles from Woburn Golf Club where he has been the tour Pro since 2003, not that I've ever seen him there.
Woburn is a world class golfing venue with 3 full 18 hole courses. Its pricey if you don't know a member but beautiful to play especially in the Autumn.

I very recently played 'The Oxfordshire' where the European Tour played the old Benson and Hedges International Open 1996-1999 prior to the tobacco advertising ban won by the Ames, Langer, Clarke and Monty.
The greens were as good as I've played anywhere in the last 5 years and it wasn't too difficult off the yellows.
I was round in 10 over off my 6 handicap in a two club cold easterly wind. I played with a 2 and a 4 handicappers who were also round in 10 and 11 over. A good day:) for me.
The Oxfordshire is half the price of Woburn and the greens are better.

I think Dustin Johnson is a shoo-in to win this week's Byron Nelson. You can just feel the momentum building up to it.

Depends, have he & his family moved into that one story ranch yet? ;)

Missed on my DJ prediction. I don't know about you guys, but I was glad to see Billy Horschel win the Byron Nelson. Really like that guy's fire, his attitude on course. If Day had won the thing, fine too, great guy.

I like Molinari, Kaymer, Rose and defending champ Chris Wood for the Euro PGA this week but this is a very open event and has thrown up a lot of random winners over the years.

Ross Fisher was a junior at Wentworth and knows the course better than anyone. I remember he featured in a big event just before the Masters so must have some form.

Brilliant 62 from Noren

Noren putted the lights out.
If Molinari could putt he's be challenging every week, fantastic swing and immaculate tee to green, My other pick Fisher crept into T10 as well.

Jack's event this week in Ohio. I've had the privilege of attending the event several times and it is one of the best venues on the PGATour.

I like Finau and Scott this week to contend.

Really enjoyed the NCAA Men's golf yesterday. Some clutch work by Oregon and nice to see some of the emotion.

Erin Hills is a super long track, so you have to figure that the bombers will have an advantage.

DJ, Roy and Rahm are my 3 favorites this week.
Sleeper: Thomas Pieters
Super Sleeper and Canuck: Corey Conners

That being said this is a pretty stacked field, probably the best of the year and I could see and Fowler, Garcia, Matsui or Molinari walking away with and win.

Alright, I think I've bet on enough of the field.

Too many issues going on with DJ, missed cut at the Memorial and he hasn't recaptured his pre Masters form.
Speith's putting has gone awol, too many missed cuts and there are too many long game issues to compensate.
Its too much to expect McIlroy to come straight out of the blocks after injury, he will need a few run outs before getting back to the top of his game.
Jason Day is coming back into form 2nd the Nelson and in contention at the Memorial and his head is in a much better place now his mother's health is better. Day is my guy this week.
I'm also not ignoring other good form, Dufner, Molinari and Chappel must be worth EV shots. Noren's record at the US open is pretty poor and he has long game issues so not for me this time, although the way he putted at Wentworth I still expect him to feature, just not to win.
