I got a bit timid on the turn here in the face of a wet dynamic board and a sticky fish villain. I should have bet the turn to charge the multitude of draws.
As played are you betting the river or checking again to pick off bluffs from whiffed draws and if betting how much?

Why are you checking to a fish? I don't care about the coordinated board... don't ever ever ever check that turn to someone like this unless you're planning on check jamming. Bruce...
Now as played jam river.
Yeah well presumably I checked because he called a squeeze and then then called a big cbet so he has something and in my mind I might be beat so I retreat into pot control so I don't get stacked. (I suspect partly because I'm running so bad but also because I'm too cautious and can't seem to handle large variance without tilting). So I'm thinking of quitting and taking up something less competitive as I don't believe I have the right demeanour to progress much further in this game. I don't want to sound ungrateful you have been terrific in getting me this far.
You're just going through a bad run. The key here is, when you start to notice that your results are changing your play, take a big break. This is one of those spots I've seen you play correctly and understand a ton. That's why I said what I did because I was super surprised.
I get it... we've all been there. Just take a break and stick to 888 and some other softer sites for now.
Fig: These are the times your cold tilting. You often check when you should bet or raise.
Your risk averse now. And avoid it and ofc u know its hurting your game.
What I typically do if my aggression drops i'll go watch nano's videos and it inspires me. but what sounds like for me is you've taken a few hits overtime and now they are turning into right hooks.
Rest up and we will still be here when you comeback![]()
Good advice maybe minus the nano videos. I haven't watched any of his, but isn't he a losing player since black friday?
The games have changed a lot. I remember pre-black friday playing 10/20nl online, and that played like 2/4nl does today.
Not sure exactly if he went broke but i liked it due to another perspective. Seeing an aggro player at work and explaining.
I like flixx videos as well well his earlier grinding it up videos his latest i cant stand and hes just taken things too far with his over acting quite sad really.
John have you made the polished videos?? I am keen on watching them. Sorry i dont take part here too much atm been hovering in and out but im never too far away.
If you find something of value that's great. I know his game doesn't really work quite as well as it used to though... just fyi.
As far as polished poker videos, I'm still doing those, but I'm putting together a new free PZ course first. I have a new website done and putting together content that I hope is done by the end of this month.
I'm just here to try and mentor any players who want to push their games forward.
Ok I'm feeling a bit less like quitting after pulling out of the nosedive and posting a few winning days and taking down TalonChick in her home game (8 game)
By the time we got HU we had about 50bb and 30bb so there was a little work to do. The prize for winning was equity in a $10 spin n go, there is the remote possibility of hitting the million jackpot in one of those at the moment. So she plays the game and gets TT all in v J3s and a J hits the river and she frowns, "sorry Figaroo" she says, "I never expected it to hold" said I and we had a chuckle.
Here is the bad running since the beginning of the year that has been getting me a bit down, there is no signs of the lines coming back togethor it widened by another $30 in the last 3 days. I am consoled by the fact I'm still well in the green.
I'm still going to have a break starting Tuesday for a week, I've hired a car and am going driveabout visiting old friends..
Well i only look at videos to see if theres something i havnt thought of oe a dift perspective these days. Lately been just focusing on building experience and practice what ive learnt ovet the last years.
I found i tried to shove too much knowledge in me over the time without totally mastering each concept. So now playing catchup and its starting to show dividends
Yeah i love what your doing and always respect you as a mentor as coach and everyones lucky to have you here. I cant wait for the vids
Ive heard you mentored fig and ive made sure ive listened to fig... too many voices and we become deaf
Anyways how is your personal game going these days
These are the stats from March 23 until today, that's NL5 6max. Can you guys point out some leaks here?
Welcome Vini
If you personal message me your skype name I'll add you to the group. Its normally on Tuesdays 8pm GMT (for me in the UK) which suits John (probably about 4pm in Brazil) but myself and others can sweat at a wider variety of times.
Hopefully John will comment in detail on your stats, I could do but I don't want to steal his thunder and he is the expert.
It would help if we could see your positional stats as well. It is important to see what % of hands you are opening from each position and where you are 3betting from.
Basically overall what I see is solid TAG that isn't stealing/3betting/squeezing wide enough preflop at 6 max and only getting to showdown with your stronger hands.
It's not that your game has massive leaks it's more a case of it not letting you win as much as you could be winning. Thankfully this means it shouldn't take many tweaks to get you into the green.
