Quarantine made me play most of the available freeroll, but sometimes it gets bored, especially when you waste five hours playing to win centimes. It is difficult to win the first three places.

I refuse to deposit money into online poker and for that I love freerolls. I had a dream that I put $100 in and lost it real quick. I woke up pissed off. Said to myself "I'm not going to do that." So I just play the freerolls and I've built up a sizable bankroll many times however I lost it all every time. It makes me glad that I haven't been pumping quarters into this video game. I just go back to the drawing board. Besides I really want to say "I just won a million dollars playing online poker for free!"
The first step in making your dreams come true is believing you can.

I found it difficult as well. Some 50 dollar free rolls had over 6000 entries. I played 2 and a half hours and made 4 cents. If you don't finish top 3 it is a lot of time for a very small return. But to those who can grind for it my hat is of to you.

On the contrary, they are hours earned. Playing freeroll is difficult. You have to identify those who play well and those who play no more or less and those who play poorly.

Even if we are playing well pre flop selection, correct position, playing top 8% of all hands strong. We will still invest a great deal of time trying to get deep into the tournament. I try a low variance method because it give me the strongest math edge possible against weaker opponents. Still need some luck in these situations for our good hands to hold up.:)

I play freerolls to try to get a starting bankroll. Even though these freerolls takes a long time to complete if going all the way.

Difference....

When I just started playing online poker I spent a lot of time in freeroll tournaments, approx 7 or 8 hours, I was younger and I had no responsibilities. Now that I am the father of 3 children, time is very limited, I only play sometimes at night. 3 hours maximum.

I already played mt freeroll when I was starting in poker, any freeroll I entered and I could get some good money, but I could only play because I had time left. Nowadays I can't play as many and I don't like to enter freerolls with thousands of people, I prefer the smaller ones that last less.

Freerolls are a great no-risk way to start a bankroll up. When I first started out with poker many ages ago it was a nice way to watch your hard work grow from nothing.. The biggest bankroll I cashed out all started with a freeroll. So, these tournaments still bring fond memories of the old days.

I've been playing in my spare time again over the past couple of months after a really long break (since Black Friday) and have already built a $12 starting bankroll into a just over $400 bankroll spreading across 6 sites. None of which would have been as easily possible without having these freerolls available to start. My eventual goal was to try to get to 5k in 6 months but i'm just not able to get proper volume in. Last time I did all of this was before I had a family :D.

Just study poker when you can, follow proper bankroll management, don't play when you're bored/upset and you should be able to make a little money at this crazy game.

I don't see freerolls like "wasting":
1) they don't take too much time to get to money (1,5 - 2,5 Hours). And 3+ hours to win some good amount.
2) You get the opportunity to improve your game - just to play another way, to develop new skills and etc.
3) You can get money for free. Just change time into money.

If you prefer STTs (they are about 1 hour) and you don't have patience for MTTm so just don't play it.

Everyone has his own way...)

I like to play freerolls for fun, in some of them you can take prizes, which is also very nice.

Freerolls can be considered a train. But of course you want to win the tournaments. Sometimes we think that is a waste of time, but most see the full part of the glass.

sometimes waste of time

I think that the freerolls when 4500 people are fighting for 100 $ and first get maybe 10$ are surely waste of time, you can`t learn anything there it is just lotery, no one is playing like will play if invested money in it, it can be just boring and frustration when you see your aces going down for someone shove with 9 4 off suit.I have spent many hours playing them and this days are behind.I still play some freerolls when you can win some big value ticket and it is a pity that in these kind of tournaments operators don`t make them deep stack that you can win with some knowledge not just with shoving all the time...cause blinds go up every 3 minutes.

ban the people when don`t show up

I just forgot to say that there will have to be punishment for the people that sign in for the tournaments and then don`t show up, sometimes you may sit on full ring and all the other players are not there it is just not fair and the poker room should really ban this kind of players and at least forbid them to sign up for a week or so, it would be justice, YOU DON`T WANT TO PLAY STAY AWAY PLEASE!

No they are not. You can learn many things from freerolls and also make money without deposing anything.

Useful

freerolls are useful for experience of the game and if you play poker anyway then what is the waste in opening another table and going for a free bankroll boost

Yes, you're right, it’s better to play for money, and maybe you will spend time with profit. but not everyone can or do not want to risk investing their money.

You need to understand what your expectation is in such a tournament. How many prizes and expected number of participants
