Zero. It is all practice. Every time AA gets cracked by T5o is a growth opportunity. I hardly scream, or break stuff anymore during bad beats. Soon, I will be able to sit as serenely as a Tibetan Monk in the flames of donkitude.
Chopper1977, maybe you play well now because you spent a lot of time on freerolls?))) Of course there is more prize money in paid tournaments. But freerolls give experience to beginnersOver the years, especially in my early online poker days, I spent countless hours in freerolls. Why not, I was only working part time and going to school part time. Life was easy back then. Now, my time is limited for poker so I'm playing less and less freerolls, spending my time on actual descent size buyins so I can get a sizeable return for my time spent, granted making the money. Any thoughts on how much time you've consumed in freeroll land. Is it worth it?
Currently I only play free tournaments and it is tiring to play a 5000 player tournament but I like to play poker and I am positive I think they serve as learning and that in the end I can receive a reward
Freerolls are like hell, only for poker players. You suffer from the drunk players who jump all-in with 2 7, you get bad beats and get kicked out of it on the bubble by another shocker for 0,001 of money
But then you are free...someday...
Free-rolls are good grounds for learning and testing different poker theories. Yes, everyone in free-rolls do not really play sound poker, but it does help with observing and noting tight/loose agro/passive players.
While early on, advance poker plays sail clear over heads, later on they may prove useful.
Another thing to note, not all free-rolls are created equal.
