The Nationals had signed third baseman Nick Sentzal and relieverDylan Floro previously in December amd now have signed outlielder/first baseman slugger Joey Gallo to a one year deal. Spring is coming.

Spring training for pitchers and catchers has started. Cade Cavalli, who had Tommy John surgery last year
had his second bullpen session and everything looks good so far. February 20th, the full team reports. Yes, I really need baseball. Spring is coming.

I've been watching a lot of spring training games, sometimes I can catch the Nationals. I really enjoy
baseball. Can't wait for the season to start.

Washington's 6 game pre-season win streak got busted today by the Cardinals.
I know, it's only pre-season, but I'll take it.

Washington came away with only 1 out of 3 games in the season opener in
Cincinnati. We lost the first game 8-2, won 7-6 and then lost 6-5. Today
we open at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Chilly, 60's with a change of rain.
Not great baseball weather.

Second series was with Pittsburgh. We lost 8-4. managed to win 5-3 and lost the rubber game, 7-4. Now we are playing the Philadelphia Phillies ,3 games in pretty cold
weather. Washington has a new third baseman, Trey Lipscomb, called up when
Victor Robles went on the 10 day D. L. list with a hamstring pull. I like what I have seen so far.

Great, Washington managed to take the last game from the Phillies today 3-2
after losing the first 2 games of the series. Kyle Finnegan came on in the 9th
and managed to shut the Phillies down. Now on to San Francisco for some late games that I can never see, past my bedtime on the east coast.

Yesterday the Nationals finished a 3 game stand against the San Francisco Giants.
We won the first game 8-1. the second 5-3 and lost the last game 7-1. As Meatloaf
said "2 out of three ain't bad". Day off today, then on to Oakland to play the Athletics
for 3 games.

Washington and Oakland split the first two games of the 3 game series. Today, Washington
was up 5-0. then 6-1. Oakland came back strong and won 7-6. That was a tough loss.
Now on to LA to play the Dodgers.

Wow, the Nationals just shut out the Dodgers 2-0 to take the 3 game series 2-1. That makes
them 5-4 for thr long west coast road trip. That is a great road trip! Now, off tomorrow, then
a three game series with the Houston Astros,

That hurt. Washington lost all 3 games to the Los Angeles Dodgers. First game was 4-1.
Second game we got blown out 11-2, and just ended was a close 2-1. Now on to Miami
for 4 games with the Marlins.

Well, we beat Miami 4 games to get to a 14-14 record. It's been awhile since we were even. Then on toTexas. We got blown out the first game 7-1 by the Rangers. Last night was a close one. We beat the world champs 1-0. Finnigan struck out all 3 batters in the 9th inning. Day game today.

Finished a three game series with Toronto on Sunday. The Nats won the first game 9-3, lost the second game 6-3, and came from behind to win the last game 11-8. We won the series to get to a 17-17 record. Tonight we start a 2 game series with the Baltimore Orioles.

The series with Baltimore was great. Washington won the first game 3-0. The second game last night was an extra inning battle that Baltimore won 7-6. Washington scored 2 runs in the 9th inning
to force extra innings. We were close, but lost in the 12th. Off today, then a 3 game series with the Boston Red Sox.

In Boston, Washington was 1-2 against the Red Sox. We won the firat game 5-1, then
lost the next 2 games, 4-2 and 3-2. We were in both games but just came up short.
Now to Chicago for 3 games with the White Sox.

The series with the White Sox didn't go as I had hoped. We won the first game 6-3, then lost the
next two , 4-0 and 2-0. It would have been nice to win one more. Off Thursday, then Philadelphia for 3 games.

That was a really ugly road trip 2 wins and 7 loses. Washington lost all 3 games to the Philadelphia Phillies who have been killing it lately. We were ahead last night with Philly down to their last out. Of course they tied the game and we lost in the 10th inning. Today we were up again, then Philly caught fire an we lost 11-5. Ugly, ugly. At least we get to come home now, Minnesota Twins for 3 games.

Another series with a 1 win 2 lose outcome. We won the first game from Minnesota 12-3.
The bats came alive. Then, we lost the second game 10-0. Where did all the scoring go?
Today, the third game was close but we lost 3-2. Off day tomorrow, then 3 games with
the Seattle Mariners.

Washington actually won a series. We won two of the three games with the Seattle Mariners.
The Nats won the first 2 games, 6-1 and 3-1. Today the Nats were behind 4-0, then made it
4-1 and in the seventh inning went ahead 6-5. The Mariners tied it in the 8th, then up 6-5.
In the 9th, the Mariners got to 9-6, and that was the final score. Almost won all 3 but not quite.
Now, starting tomorrow, 4 games in Atlanta against the Braves.

Great series in Atlanta with the Braves, We won 8-4, lost 2-0, then won 7-2 and in the final
game of the 4 game series held on to win 3-1. Great, beating the Second place Braves
3 out of 4 games. Now on to Cleveland for 3 games with the Guardians, division leaders
of the AL Central.

We got shot down in Cleveland by the Guardians. We lost the first 2 games, 7-1 and sadly,
3-2. Today we managed to win, 5-2. At least we got one. Now onto NewYork for 3 games with the Mets.
