Washington Nationals Baseball

Back in town, been away for awhile. The Nationals are 5 and 5 for the last 10 games. We did manage to beat the San Francisco
Giants 3 games in a row. They are a good team this year, they were 54 -44, a pretty good record. The trade deadline is August 1st.
We could lose Thomas and Candelario, two very great players. l will miss them if they are traded. Now we have a 3 game series with the Rockies.

Loved the 3 game winning streak against San Francisco! All the bases filled were realized. Washington seems to have found their game. The main thing is to continue to show a high level at the receiving end. This is the main trump card of the Nationals. I really want to see them in the playoffs this season.

Watched the first game of the series against the Mets today. Given the strength of the opponent, Washington had a chance, but New York was luckier. And Washington has too many injuries right now. But the past statistics of the games against the Mets and today's game makes us optimistic for the second game. Let's see if Washington can tie this series. Let's go, Nationals!

Washington just won one of the three games with the New York Mets over the weekend. Not good but better then losing all three.
During the series, Max Scherzer, an ex-Washington pitcher, was traded to the Texas Rangers. Funny home things work out at the trade deadline (August 1st). Washington sent Scherzer to the Dodgers , a few yearg ago, in a rebuild trade previously. Now the Mets are down- sizing salaries. The Nats are now going to a three game series in Milwaukee.

We won another series. The National's beat the Brewers in two of the three games we just played. Washington won the final game in the ninth inning , scoring 2 runs to win 3 -2. I watched and it was a really wild finish, with the Nats scoring both runs on a bases loaded infield hit by Alex Call and a throwing error. Nice win, Off today, then 4 games in Philadelphia.

Just ended in Cincinatti, the Nationals just beat the Reds 6-3. They won the first two games in style, 6-3 and 7-3. Thats a series sweep
for Washington. 3-0. In todays game the Nats got 2 home runs on the first 2 pitches. Not too shabby. Now Washington heads to
Philadelphia for four night games.

Coming home now to face the Oakland Athletics in a three-game series. Washington won only one of the three games we just
finished in Philadelphia. We were no-hit by Phillies pitcher Michael Lorenzen in the second game 7-0. Kudos to Michael. Hope
things better no that we have a home stand.

That was an awesome series. Washington won the first game with the Athletics 8-2. The second game was tied 2-2 when the Nats
came up in the last of the ninth. Washington's catcher Keibert Ruiz hit the first pitch for a home run and won the game 3-2.
In yesterdays game, the score was 7-2 Oakland in the bottom of the ninth. Washington scored 6 runs, yup 6, and won the game 8-7.
Three wins to none over Oakland. Off today, then Boston cames to town for 3 games.

Great series with the Red Sox. The Nationals won 2 of the 3 games. Today Patrick Corbin pitched a very nice game and the Nats
offense provided the firepower and we won 10-7. Lots of action from both teams tonight but the Nats closers shut down the
Redsox in the 8th and 9th innings. Phillies coming to town tomorrow for 3 games.

That was a great weekend. Washington managed to beat Philadelphia 2 out of the 3 games we played. The first 2 games
were split one to one. The third game was special. Sundays game was played in Williamsport Pennsylvania, where the Little League
World Series is in progress. We beat the Phillies 4-3 in a great game. Finnigan shut down the game in the ninth. Now three games wiith the Yankees.in New York

Washington just beat the New York Yankees two out of three in New York to end another series win. If the Nationals had played
as well over the full season as we have in the last 3 weeks, we would be in the playoffs again instead of tied for last place
with the Mets in the NL east.. I can only imagine. Now to Miami to play the Marlins.

We did it again. Washington just beat the Miami Marlins 2 out of 3 games. We had a chance in the final game yesterday to
win that one which would been a sweep. Alas, we lost 2-1. Washington had two men on base in the ninth inning but Jacob Young
grounded into a game ending double play. Tonight we start a three game series in Toranto.

We finished up in Toronto yesterday. Lost the third game of the three game series 7-0. We did manage to win one game though.
For the month of August, Washington has an amazing 17-10 record with one game left today. That is sweet. Now we are home
again for 9 games, with 4 games against Miami first.

Watching the second game of the mini-series with the Marlins..... How did the Nationals lose 5 runs in 2 extra-innings? How? And that's after Washington had come back from 1-3 down. And they had the game in their hand... but they've lost two games against an Miami with (-2) in the standings. Winning games like this against opponents like this may not be enough to make the playoffs. That's a real pity.

Terrible series for Washington. We lost all four games to the Marlins, and those loses assure that there will be no playoffs for the Nationals this year. We were putting up some good numbers in August, going 17-10 but that is now 17-14. Ouch.
Today is Labor Day, a national holiday, and we have no Nationals baseball today? I cannot remember that happening before.
Next, New York Mets come to town.

Washington split the abbreviated series with the New York Mets one game each. The Nat's won the second game in the
ninth inning with a walkoff single by rookie Jacob Young. This win assures Washington that they cannot lose 100 games
this year, good but sad. Off today then the Dodgers are in town for 3 games.

We lost another rain delay game yesterday with the Dodgers by the score of 7-3. The day game Saturday was rain delayed
until late in the evening. Really wet here lately. We lost the first game 8-5, managed to win the second game in extra innings
7-6. At least we won one game. Tonight we travel to Pittsburgh to play the Pirates 3 games.

That did not go well in Pittsburgh. We lost all three games to the Pirates. Josiah Gray pitched a very good game. Struck out a personal
best 10 Pirates but we lost 2-0. Both runs came on solo home runs. Now we are in Milwaukee for 3 games to play the Brewers.

Washington managed to win the last game of the three series in Milwaukee in extra innings today, 2-1. That was in 11 innings. We lost the first two games though so it was a 1 win 2 loss series. Now we go to Chicago for three games with the White Sox.

I was out of town for a week. When I got home I had no internet. Just got fixed, it's been 5 days without. I really missed it. You don't realize how much you use it until it's not available! Washington is 4-6 for the last 10 games. We just finished a 2 game series with the Baltimore Orioles and lost both games. Washington is off today and our final 3 games of the season are in Atlanta with the Braves.

Well, the season is over for the Washington Nationals. We closed out the year with 3 game series in Atlanta against the Braves.
Washington won the first game 10-6, lost the second 5-3 and won the final game of the year 10-9 in a great game. Overall
the Nats had a reasonable rebuild year winning about 16 more games then the previous year. If Washington can improve by 16
more games next year, we can make the playoffs. Maybe we can get a key player or two in this winters MLB draft? Time
will tell. I'll update this thread with any news about the Nats off-season.

Washington may have fallen down in the standings this season, but they have not been the sweet team they were last season. That's obvious and it's definitely progress! Washington lacks is a bet leader like Aaron Judge in the Yankees or Shohei Ohtani in the Angels or Shwarber in Philadelphia. If only they had at least one of them and the team would show results not worse than those Yankees at the end of this season. We've seen a team from the bottom of the standings become a contender the following season (like Baltimore and Texas in MLB and the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings in the NBA). So I believe in the Nationals next season too!
