Yes ,their farm system is really down now and I am sure that it will be a priority to get a lot of young talent loaded up for the future. I am pretty sure that the Dominican Republic will be well represented. We do some players now but at what cost? We do not have much in the way of trade bait do we.

Go Nats!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Not really. We traded Giolito and Dunning for Eaton. We traded Luzardo and Trienen for Doolittle. It helped us get a World Series, but may cripple us for a while. But I think most fans including myself will take the ring and deal with fallout.

Baseball is fun but you need a lot of people and equipment to play. Football you just need a ball and everyone wants in. Basketball is a skill game but you have to be good.

Now the off season begins. The Dodgers beat the Rays in this years short season World Series The games were great to watch with a lot of excitement but for me nothing will compare to last years Washington National's win over the Houston Astro's. Yesterday the Nat's made the announcement that they will decline the option's on Howie Kendricks, Adam Eaton, Anibal Sanchez, and Eric Thames allowing them to become free agents. It was Washington's first move for the 2021
season. There will be plenty more to follow.

Go Nat's:):):):):):):):)

The nats are rebuilding which is typical for the champs. Getting rid of Howie is a big no no. Nats think pitching is the key.

I am sorry to see Howie go, maybe no team will pick him up and the Nat's will resign him.

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the locker room not a creature
was stirring except the Nationals got an early Christmas present. The Pittsburgh
Pirates traded first baseman Josh Hill to Washington for two pitching prospects.
Wil Crowe and Eddty Yean will go to Pittsburgh. Bell hit .277 with 37 home runs
and 116 RBI's.

Huge Nat Fan here. I had Season Tix for first 3 years. I'm happy with Josh Bell. He's a high quality person that will work well in the clubhouse. I mostly worry that we're gonna suck for a long time though, with the worst farm system in Baseball and an aging Starting Staff. Only Free Agency can save us. Not many more assets to trade.

I live in Silver Spring Maryland, about half an hour from Nat's park. Nice stadium but
terrible parking situation. Metro is ok but a long time commitment. I like Bell too, he will be
a great addition. I hope that they offer Zimmerman a back-up bench contract, I think that he can still be contributor. You are right, the farm system is getting kind of thin. Be Well

Another piece of the puzzle is found. Kyle Schwarber is coming to the Nationals from the Cubs, !0 million dollar deal for one year. That is a steep price tag. Kyle did hit 38 home runs in 2019 so he brings a lot of pop to the plate. Who is the next addition? We will see.

Yesterday the Nationals signed Jon Lester to a one year deal to fill out their starting pitching rotation .Lester will join Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg, and Patrick Corbin. That looks like a pretty good rotation on paper, guess time will tell if it's as good as it looks.

Today I read that Ryan Zimmerman has signed a one year contract with Washington. Great to have him returning. Ryan was drafted by the Nats in 2005 I think. Ryan has been with then since then. He started at third base and moved to first base when he got older and slower. Sounds like me.

Great and necessary. The Washington Nationals have signed left handed pitcher Brad Hand to a one year deal. Hand is a closer that the Nat's really needed. He comes from Cleveland where he had a stellar year in 2020 leading the American league in saves. Now we need a catcher.

My last post said now we need a catcher. Well, here he is. Alex Avila signed a one year deal to catch for Washington. The table is set now, I do not think that we need any additions to the roster. Let the games begin!

I haven't made it to a Nationals game yet. I grew up rooting for the expansion Senators, and remember seeing Frank Howard homer at DC stadium. My grandfather saw Walter Johnson pitch both World Series at Griffith Stadium during the 1920's.

Something about them leaving town when I was 12, probably helped me lose interest in watching baseball, unfortunately. But I was very happy to see DC win a World Series during my lifetime.

Great, I loved your post. I am a huge National's fan, going back to the 50's. I suffered the loss of 2 teams leaving over the years and was elated when the Expos moved here. 2019 was a really special year for us and you are right, it was really sweet to be able to witness the whole playoff series and WE WON!

Okay Nats fans. The Nationals signed Ryan Zimmerman to a one year contract
He will be a great backup at first base and a pinch hitter. Ryan still haspop, despite
taking 2020 off because of Covid. Ryan hit a home run in his first 2 games in Spring
Training.

Today Washington DC said that for now, 5,000 people will allowed to attend
National's games. At least that's a start. The stadium capacity is a little less then
42,000. Hope, that by the end of the season, more will be allowed into the venue.

Opening day is Friday April 1st. Washington is playing the New York Mets, who are really going to be a tough team this year, could easily win the National League East Division. Carter Kieboom, Washington's projected third baseman at the beginning of spring training, was sent down to the minor leagues yesterday because he has not done anything at the plate. Carter only has 6 hits in 35 at bats. Josh Harrison will be playing the third base position on opening day. Harrison has 13 hits with 2 homers in 31 at bats this spring so he has earned the starting spot.

Washington is off to a wonderful start. Their first 3 games with the New York Mets
have been cancelled because of Covid. Maybe, up to 4 unidentified National players have tested positive. Now opening day will be Monday next week or later?

Great start Washington had their first game today and the game was tied 5-5 in the ninth inning at home . Juan Soto got a hit on a 3-0 pitch with a man on second base for a walk-off win. What a way to start the season. Hope there are many more happy endings this year.
