Yeah, as a Liverpool fan I'm disappointed we couldn't do it having got ourselves into pole position, but City play good football - much better to look at than Chelsea - and I agree they were the best overall team this season - but we did give them a good run for it with our comparatively inexperienced squad.

Barca v Atletico Madrid for the La Liga title clashes with it toochannel hopping time
Barca has weak defense...Mascherano is the weakest point there.
I watched the match. The goal of Sanchez was very nice. This was the only time Barca could score cos they simply couldnt do anything against Athletico's defense (italy style bunker football).
Of course Athletico found its 1 goal and that was enough as usual (they won a lot of matches by a single goal).
I hope Real will defeat them in Champions League final next week.

Barcas' defence has been poor for a couple of years at least,
Puyol way too old now,
Pique often day dreams himself to another planet,
Mascherano too short and a liabilty when tackling,
Dani Alvez steams forward and is often at the wrong end of the pitch :vroam:
the rest are often chopped and changed too much to get settled.
Im not a Real Madrid fan but did think they looked a lot better and more solid (and controlled) and have fancied them for the CL for a while.

It'll depend if Ronaldo is fit or not. I thought Atletico were great against Chelsea and again yesterday.
Barca didn't create much at all - very disappointing, and it's funny to see the old rules about marking the posts from corners catching them out and costing them the title.

Hull v Arsenal was a great final. Hull tried but no doubt the better team won, especially 2nd half and ET. Ramsey is the one Arsenal player I wish we could get at Liverpool - funny when you think he wasn't that popular with Arsenal fans before this season.

Yeah, you are right, Real is doing well nowadays (I'm a Barca fan but I also like Real). I think they have been concentrating on the final for weeks now. Ronaldo must be healthy for this match. Even if he cant score, he can keep defenders busy and others will be able to score.
This will be a great match.

So, no great surprise but van Gaal finally confirmed as ManU manager with Giggs as assistant....3 year contract.
As always though it's a challenge for a manager coming into the Premier League, but with ManU being free of Europe next season it will probably help them in the league.
But it is competitive, and van Gaal is not Ferguson so he'll have his own style, on the pitch and in the dressing room.
And apart from Liverpool and Arsenal, Everton & Spurs to fight there's the two big rich dogs to get past too!
