Yeah, I know that Terry, Rooney, Gerrard, etc. all played poorly, and I know that in the end Germany ran out comfortable winners, BUT - that can't excuse the fact that FIFA needs to come on into the 21st century.

1966, there was no goal-line technology so there's an excuse. 1996 WCQF a hand-ball changed the course of the game - not to take anything away from the 2nd goal which was brilliant.

Today, first German goal is about 1-2 yards offside when the ball is kicked. Should he have scored anyway - no, unless Terry, Upson and James all contrive to let it happen. But - the fact remains it was off-side.

Then Lampard's "goal" - so clearly a goal. Probably 2-2 at half-time - unless England gain even more momentum and maybe even score a 3rd - who knows? Most certainly, at 2-2 England are NOT chasing the came with 25 to go, committing too many many forward and getting caught on the break. The game changed the moment that goal wasn't given.

Then we have Argentina-Mexico. Tevez 2 yards off-side for the first - and crucial goal. USA had 2 good goals disallowed in 4 games.

How many more BS decisions from 3rd rate officials do we have to see before FIFA wakes up?

aside from the first offside thing you're right. i have a horrible feeling that because the games weren't close that this will be swept under the carpet by the hilarious incompetence of fifa - i was hoping the games would be at least close because then they really wouldn't be able to ignore it (although i'm glad at least for the sake of the (assistant) ref's sanity that they weren't, but i'm sure fifa will continue to do what they have done for the last 5 years or so and miss the point entirely.

yes if we'd continued to play as incompetently as we did againt germany we would have lost anyway, and yes mexico would probably have lost to the argies anyway but (a) momentum is a funny thing in football and (b) it's only a matter of time before something like this happens in a huge game.

here's hoping ghana lose to someone in the final thanks to having a clear last minute goal not given and sepp and his cronies get blockaded in africa and kept there until they exercise a little bit of ****ing common sense.

We have John Barnes on one of our panels here in SA and he had something interesting to say about the use of technology. I dont know why FIFA want to keep human error as part of the unpredictability of the game but I agree with Barnes-for crucial decisions about the ball crossing the line, technology should be used. In 2014 brazil will have 2 extra officials behind the goals-what a waste of money when you have the technology.

I disagree with alot of people saying England was outplayed by Germany wether that goal was allowed or not! I play alot of sports including football and your mental state is hugely affected by going into half time a goal down. If that goal was allowed England Coulda won that game-they would have had a psychological advantage and the belief that they could win it without chasing golas and leaving themselves open for a counter-and they woulda had momentum on their side. FIFA fked up. Yes Germany played great but England gave them that first goal (lol Terry).

Doesnt matter because argentina are gonna hammer them!

Been thinking about that event - can't call it a goal cos it wasnt and cant call it a disallowed goal cos noone disallowed it. Anyway, FIFA being the sort of organisation it is, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2018 World Cup vote wasn't now rigged in favour of England as some sort of compensation.

Even the creaky dinos at FIFA will probably have to accept the need for a different approach after the injustices to England and Mexico. I was also intrigued to see that the uruguay ref had apparently missed an "event" in a Brazil qualifying game and was suspended for irregularities as a result missing the last World Cup.

I hope it doesn't turn out the Indian bookies were involved in this.

how about the referring in the world cup? i cannot believe some of the calls and non calls that have gone on. i saw a team score a goal and they said it didn't go in and they showed a replay of it. wouldn't you know that it was good. they are now going to stop showing replays because of it.

Phew all is well with the world again, Sepp Blatter (pronounce 'stupid dumbass') has apologised to England for the disallowed goal fiasco.

Thats ok then

FiFA have yet to announce if they are going to bring their thoughts and ideas up to the more modern era of 1970s technology, but they have stated that betamax is the way forward for recording games and personal computers will never be popular.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Its such a shame that that shit will determine who wins the world cup. Both those games on Sunday could have had different outcomes if the refs only got the early decisions right. It should never come down to this and the fact that fifa has been delaying this for so long ever after all the horrible calls in the last few years is just plain ridiculous. I mean a challenge system like they have in tennis but only used towards goals and crucial plays (not talking about a foul or anything) and restrict the use to play around the box area and it will not slow down the game at all. And even if it slowed the game down tremendously, for ****s sack, its about getting the right call and the right outcome.

Not putting any money on the game but looking forward to a cracker. I think Spain will take it 2-1 by 90 mins!

The refereeing has been, and continues to be a joke. It's like FIFA wants to intentionally ruin the games so they can make a case for introducing goal line technology. Except that they resolutely refuse to do so.

Come to think of it - I think they're just plum trying to ruin the games. Vuvuzelas anyone?

Haha love the out of africa one. England are terrible the only people who tought they were going to do well was the English themselves, as per every major competition! I think Germany will go on and win it from here, they have been a class apart in this tournament and Ozel is well on his way to player of the tournament!

Dude, you wanna take a wager on that? Germany have been great-very pleasing to the eye. But cmon, Germany > Argentina. haha. it should be a good game and Im expecting at least 4 goals in the game-all for Argentina!

Looks like were in for a Brazil vs Argentina/Spain final. should be a cracker.

Dont count Holland out yet.
They usualy play great in the early rounds then crash and burn later but this time the havent been so much "great" but more consitend and only really done what was needed.

I think Holland is gonna shock Brazil and knock em out.

Holland have done OK and are a decent side but the Brazilians are just too efficient these days under Dunga, it would need to be a very bad day for Brazil if the Dutch are to win, possible of course but I'm not expecting it.

Sorry but Germany won't beat the Argies, England made the Germans look much better than they actually are, the Serbians proved that Germany are not all that in the group stages. The Argies defence isnt great but they have a defensive midfielder, Mascherano who is wanted by the top teams in the world, who covers for the defence when required and they have an array of attacking talent that any team in the world would like.

I admit that the Serbians gave the 10 germans a hard time - don't know whether it would have been any different if Klose hadn't been sent off though.

At this stage of the tournament anyone can beat eachother.

I'm looking forward to a game with many goals on both sides since neither the Argentinan nor the German defense seem unbeatable.

We almost definately won't see a 0-0 after OT there.

Same counts for netherlands against Brazil - should be a great game.

Uruguay vs. Ghana might be close, too - though on a different level.

Paraguay vs. Spain - well I can't see Paraguay winning this at all unless the Spanish aquire some sort of food poisoning or the like.
