I'm just surprised the betting odds were in favor of Ronda. It's as if the odd makers assumed that she would miraculously improve her boxing over the last time she got destroyed on the feet.

I can understand the odds. We all know MMA math doesn't work but Ronda did beat 3 / 4 of the opponents Nunes lost to in a combined time of under 1 minute.

Yeah a few things about that I guess - first of all it's the betting public that moves that line around, and there was obviously a HEAP of public money on Ronda. The books just moved that line as the money kept coming in (especially in the last few days before the fight).

Plus I don't think she needed to improve her boxing to beat Nunes - her best bet was to not engage with her on the feet at all. Clinch, get the fight to the ground and break her arm.

Yes Rousey looked bad and yes, this is a terrible terrible indictment on Tarverdyan as a coach. But at worst she was a live dog in this fight: Nunes isn't invincible.

ronda got her ass handed to her 48 seconds 3 million + not a bad day

And it's that "+" that's important too: $3 million is only her reported purse. There's no way she was taking this fight without getting PPV points as well. No word yet on how it did sales wise but I'd be shocked if she didn't make at least a few million more on that.

The "for 48 seconds work" thing is a bit misleading though. It's not like the only work she did for this fight was the 48 seconds she was in the ring, she was in training camp for months prior.

Now if you want to point out that Nunes did more work than Rousey, and for probably less than 10% of the money Rousey will get paid when it's all said and done, I'll agree absolutely. After all, Nunes did basically all the promo and media work for this one on top of the training camp etc.

WAs anyone surprised how Cody Dominated Cruz. COdy impressed me. I did not expect him to dominate Cruz like that at all.

One of the most impressive title challenge I've seen in a very long time. Credit to him!

Yep I was - it was that, not Rousey, that was the most shocking result of the card for me.

nunes has heavy hands and ronda isn't good at boxing.
just like the holly holm fight, why did she even bother to stand with her at all.
i know its all 20/20 hindsight at this point but the only way ronda loses was if she just stood there eating punches.
which is exactly what she did.
props to nunes, but acting like ronda was going to lose and everybody knew it and and she is the worst is crazy.

Ronda try'd to clinch a couple times and got lit up for it. She needs to utilize or develop shooting for a single or double leg. Her method of clinching and throwing to get fighters to the ground isn't going to work as often anymore.

Same with the Holm fight. I think she tried to clinch a number of times - one of which resulted in holly actually taking her down. Part of me wonders how much of the problem is actually in her head, when she's getting picked apart on the feet and her go to plan of getting the takedown isn't working either she's literally a deer in headlights and she doesn't wanna be in there whatsoever. She doesn't have that invincible level of confidence anymore that's for sure.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Rousey got her ass kicked again. As I've said before, she's an overrated ****. Now that women MMA is starting to develop and she's been used to fighting all the chumps until real talented fighters like Holm or Nunes came in, she can't handle them. Look how Rousey got outclassed by Nunes. But it's not entirely Rousey's fault. It's her Armenian piece of shit coach located in Glendale, CA Edmond Tarvedian who ****ed her career up. She is done for. Bye bye Ronda.
I do believe however that if Ronda had a better coach like Winklejohn Academy, Blackhouse Gym, etc, she would have a chance to stay at the top regardless of women's MMA coming up with top talented fighters. But nope, she decides to stick with her scamming armenian boxing coach who can't box for shit.

You have some valid points, mixed in for some reason with a heap of deplorable bigotry.

IMO the earliest you could really criticise Rousey's game was the Correia fight: I think that's the first time (even though she won) that she started showing off bad decision making and an over-reliance in her bad stand-up game. And yes, Edmund's "coaching" is obviously a huge factor in that.

Before that there almost wasn't enough to go on: her fights were almost all super-short and yes she was one-dimensional but she was super-effective at what she did. We don't criticise Demian Maia for being really good at smothering people with his jiujitsu. If she's going to come back BTW I think that would be the most effective route for her to go down: don't try to become the most well-rounded fighter or an amazing striker, because you're just too far behind the others to catch up. Instead I'd focus on the Maia route of being a specialist, and just work on the other aspects of your game to get them to the point where they're supporting the one thing you're amazing at instead of getting in the way of it.

Ronda's current fails don't erase her past accomplishments.

Agree about her coach. Others getting better contributed to her losses. I also believe she peaked and she "lost a step" AFTER the Holly fight. If it is due to ring rust or the mental breakdown from her first loss IDK but she certainly wasn't at her best in the Nunes fight ( not taking anything from Nunes she is great ). Ronda did try to clinch a couple times and paid for it.

I agree with OzExorist that she needs to focus on what got her there in the first place. Her Judo and imo she should be drilling the double and single leg none stop in practice and use it as another way to get her opponents to the ground. Her Clinch - Judo Throw - Sub isn't going to work on everyone anymore.

Dana White formally makes Floyd Mayweather offer to fight Conor McGregor.

$25 Million each + negotiated PPV Points.

http://www.bjpenn.com/boxing-news/f...oyd-mayweather-offer-to-fight-conor-mcgregor/

I am guessing this is a response to Floyd's offer of $15 million to Conor + PPV points.

I legit think this fight actually has a chance of happening. The real question is does Conner have a chance of catching old man Mayweather and knocking him out early? Or will Mayweather dodge punches for 12 rounds and box the shit out of Conner?

Floyd responded .... he laughed and asked if Dana was a comedian.

Floyd isn't excepting a 50/50 deal with Conor or anyone else. Dana isn't going to offer Floyd a gntd bigger than what he is willing to give to Conor. So this fight doesn't get made in the UFC. Only chance is Conor somehow being allowed to fight Floyd outside the UFC.

I read that Floyd's last PPV did around 450 000 PPV buys and he made 32 million. Imagine what he could pull in in a hybrid fight with Conor with the amount of PPV it would garner. Floyd doesn't want to share the pie with UFC.

I don't know. I think it's at least plausible that all parties work it out because they all clearly see the PPV possibilities (biggest PPV ever?).

they couldn't work it out with manny pacman for like 20 years it seemed. and that would've been the biggest fight in the last 20 years if they would have made it happen at the right time.

crazier things have happened, but i don't see this fight ever coming close to fruition.
and if it does, mayweather embarasses connor.

Win or lose I just hope he doesn't get hurt too badly.

At this stage it seems pretty clear he's one of those sad combat sports cases that keeps fighting way past when it's sensible to retire...
