I could be wrong but I thought I got a PM from PT4 saying that you need to run Bootcamp for fast tables? Am I wrong on this?

PokerTracker 4 for OS X does not support Zoom, Rush, or Party's Fast Forward tables. We can support OnGame's STROBE Poker tables, this is the first time we can put a HUD in a fast fold game on the Mac! In the future if pokerstars, Tilt or Party provides an interface for us then we can add support for their fast fold games on the Mac too. Until that time you can still use the Windows version of PT4 in Bootcamp (or a VM) to play Zoom, Rush, or Fast Forward.

can someone help me with the PostgreSQL part? I had trouble doing this with PT3 and and having troubles with PT4. When I go to connect it says "unable to connect to this database. please check the configuration"

Do you already have PT3 installed on your Mac with PostgreSQL? Then you shouldn't have to do anything, PT4 automatically detects the presence of PostgreSQL.

Things to try:

1) Disable your firewall
2) Follow this guide: https://www.pokertracker.com/guides/PT4/troubleshooting/postgresql-troubleshooting#problems <- we sugest you read the entire guide so you don't make an error accidentally, it helps if you know what version of PostgreSQL you have installed first. PT3 installed PostgreSQL 8.4 by default.

errrhh hemmm!

good call. Lastly, how do I enter results from MTT's? I couldnt figure out why my ROI is all f'd up, but saw that it doesn't record those results automatically.

thanks!

Carbon w/ PT3 (but aparently 4 is out for mac as of like 3 min ago) haha

Not all tournaments are automatically detected, it depends on the poker room you play at, some (like Merge) do not include a tournament summary therefore we have t use artificial intelligence to attempt to guess what type of tournament you played, what the payouts are, who the winner(s) are, if any bounties were won or rebuys/addons paid and also incorporate ICM during all-in moments at a final table. This is really hard to do at Merge, so if you come across a tournament that we cannot automatically detect the results for them you can send us the tournament along with a screen capture so our developers can add support in an upcoming release.

Two guides to read on this topic:
https://www.pokertracker.com/guides/PT4/tutorials/tournament-auto-detection
https://www.pokertracker.com/guides/PT4/general/how-to-submit-a-bug-report

TWO IMPORTANT ISSUES THAT ARE AFFECTING POKERTRACKER USERS - PLEASE INFORM YOUR FRIENDS AND PEERS:

1) There was a minor bug in the configuration file for FullTilt's Rush HUD, this file is automatically pushed from our servers once you start using PokerTracker today. To solve the bug please restart PokerTracker 4, the correct version of this file will be pushed to your computer automatically and you will then be able to play on FullTilt RUSH tables once again.

2) PokerTracker 4.07 requires a cache rebuild if you use the Call 2Bet PF stat in your HUD or reports. Our release notes stated this rebuild was optional, we just discovered that the performance of PokerTracker 4 will be affected if a rebuild is not performed. If you are affected by this issue, please follow these instructions.
  1. Restart PokerTracker 4
  2. Click Database > Database Maintenance
  3. Click Rebuild Cache and wait until the process has completed.
Please be aware that the larger your database, the longer it will take to rebuild your cache. Very large databases that exceed millions of hands could take hours to perform, we sugest performing the rebuild at a time when you are not playing to avoid any disruptions in your play.

We apologize for these minor inconveniences.

I got this message in a pop up window upon attempting to open PT4 for the first time:

"PokerTracker has detected a permissions issue which prevents it from running.

Please use Disk Utility to repair your disk permissions and run PokerTracker again. If that fails please contact support for additional troubleshooting assistance."

I already repaired the disk and received the same message.

just read this on Carbon..... Is PokerTracker legally allowed there? I'd hate to work my way up to $700 from $0 for nothing....

PT and HEM have always been allowed on Carbon. They're talking about AI software (bots and auto-betting software) that make betting decisions for you. Trackers and HUDs do not fall into that class of software.

This is a known issue, we just solved the problem this morning, testing has begun to make sure our solution works as we expect it should. We hope to have a fix out within a day or two at most.

Correct. We have a good working relationship with the MERGE network management, I can assure you that our software is permitted.

Great, thanks. Will the software prompt me to download the new version as per usual or does this bug mess with that?

The permissions for /Users/Shared/Library/Preferences must be changed to 777, this is the reason why PokerTracker 4 is showing that error message, we need to be able to create the user data folder, but we cannot do this unless your permissions folded allows us to do so.

Follow these simple instructions:

1) Quit PT4
2) Open the terminal and type sudo chmod 777 /Users/Shared/Library/Preferences. You may need to enter your administration password when you do this. When this is complete you can quit the terminal.
3) Restart PokerTracker 4.

Lol no need to condescend with the "simple" bit ;) "Follow these instructions" would suffice. :D

Anyway, I got an error typing in what you had there, since "Preferences" is not a valid addition to that file path, but removing the "/Preferences" at the end did the trick and PT4 opened right up. Thanks for your help!!

I am looking into your method, I don't think there is any downside to altering the permissions for the Library folder, but I am not positive. We revised the guidance yesterday to include a section that discusses how to create the Preferences folder if your folder does not exist,

PS: We literally copy-paste from a support database, we do this to save time. Here is the verbatim text.

"To solve this problem, follow these simple instructions:

  1. Quit PT4
  2. Open the terminal and type sudo chmod 777 /Users/Shared/Library/Preferences. You may need to enter your administration password when you do this. When this is complete you can quit the terminal.
  3. Restart PokerTracker 4.

If the Preferences folder does not exist, then your should follow these modified instructions:

  1. Quit PT4
  2. Open the terminal and type sudo mkdir /Users/Shared/Library/Preferences. You may need to enter your administration password when you do this.
  3. Next type sudo chmod 777 /Users/Shared/Library/Preferences. You may need to enter your administration password when you do this. When this is complete you can quit the terminal.
  4. Restart PokerTracker 4.
