Thanks - but how cheap is cheap?

I mean cheaper then some places. Your not going to want to stay in some slum hotel off in the middle of no were. Its right there and not bad for the price. I cant go anytime soon but went couple years ago. How cheap is cheap is only relevant to each person. Im broke now feelsbadman so cant afford anything but spending $90 bucks a night is good.

I live in Minnesota and have never been to Vegas. It is a dream of mine to play live poker there in Vegas. Thanks for sharing all the different places to go or eat at. If I ever go to Vegas I have some idea where to eat or stay or play poker at. Thanks again for this thread.:D

I agree, thanks for the thread!

I'm also from MN! Ever hit up Canterbury?

Thanks for the replies.

So difficult to plan for these events with no clue as to the cost of transportation, food, accommodation, etc, but I'm getting there..! :D

You have to provide a lot of details and do a few google searches for current rates.

How long would you be there?

What are you going to play - cash games, tournaments or both?

When are you thinking about going?

Do you want to do anything other than play poker - shows, etc.

Where you choose to stay will dictate what your transportation options are.

Las Vegas is the last place in the world you want to go and not have enough money.

If money is too tight - wait until it is not. :)

I've read some posts that seem to want to stay in Vegas super cheap. I haven't done this, but Vegas has Hostels you can stay at. I believe they start at around $10 per day and up. But like I said I've never stayed at one so I'd do some research first.

check out rewards from an App called myVegas, they have 3 slots Apps and 1 blackjack. They also have facebook games, but the rewards are kind of cool. I still have yet to use mine but i have a few free nights, or free buffets, or free shows waiting for me.

I got enough on myvegas to stay for over 100 nights. Everytime I try to use it for rooms, meals, etc. it's always on a blackout day. I find it worse than my air miles rewards cards. It's hard to plan a stay around their restricted dates.

I found it cheaper to book flight, hotel and car through expedia on the dates I want.

I will give you a few hints I use.
First, don't stay at the Rio. You will pay their Facility fee even if you get comped. Stay at the Gold Coast across the street. I get comped at least 2 nights and they wave their fees. (I'm their starting level on BConnected)
Personally, I jump around. My girlfriend also gets comped so we stay at Gold Coast 4 nights and Orleans 2 nights, All free! Same thing with food. Fridays is in Gold Coast and they have great specials. They have the best Oriental restaurant in Vegas. Orleans has a great Oriental restaurant also at very affordable prices.

If you don't want a rental car, they have a shuttle that goes from each property and the strip.

For travel, I use the Southwest card all year and get points. We earned enough that my girlfriend flies free and we travel all around. I highly recommend!

Recent trip notes:

Dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant: Incredible food, awesome view if you can get a window table. Ridiculously expensive. Budget $150-200 per person. Very romantic. We had the tasting menu. It was really, really good.

Breakfast every morning at Mon Ami Gabi - what more can I say.

Ride the High Roller: $37 per person. Was worth doing it once. At night. Was really cool if you are OK with heights. We had one car for the four of us. My wife and I were dancing to the music and wandering all over the car looking at the lights. My Brother-in-Law just sat there the whole time... oh well. The light show with the music was fun. Go to Giradelli's and get a hot fudge sundae afterwards.

Westgate sports book: One word: HUGE. The line for Superbowl bets was wrapped all the way around the room.

We stayed off-strip at the Residence Inn Convention Center. Not bad. Easy walk to the Monorail.

Nice thread this one.

I am Brazilian and I am planning with my brother to visit the USA for the first time, we intend to knows the legendary route 66. We still have not decided if we are going by car or bike.

Around $ 250 per day for eachone is enough to across route 66, take one week in Vegas, eating, lodging, rent (car or bike) and also play some poker?

30 days is enough to enjoy this trip?

you don't need to rent a car in Las Vegas, for the reason Las Vegas have free shuttle between casinos, or the bus is a very good transportation.

believe eating fee and hotel fee is a big part for staying in Las Vegas.

The Orleans is a great place to stay if the room rates are down, like they often are Sun-Thurs. The rooms are spacious and nice. They've got a great pool. Lots of choices of restaurants. It's a fun place in general. And they have one of the biggest poker rooms in Las Vegas, with about 33 tables or so. That poker room is always busy, being that it is a favorite among locals.

What I like best is the people seem to be more friendly than Vegas. The food is better than any place in the USA.

In case, we will rent bikes to make the entire trip ... from chigago to Los Angeles and as we pass through Las Vegas, we are thinking of staying a few days there ...

Bikes, travels and poker are our passions!

Maybe in the summer of 2018 we can realize this dream.

Stratosphere

The Observation deck was a lot of fun and has some pretty awesome rides up there for a reasonable price. Only $10 to go up to the observation deck if you have one of their cards (which are free). Normally $20 and $5 per ride. Definitely worth going up to the deck at least.

I heard the dining up there is awesome, too.. but expensive. But we didn't eat dinner up there. Just had their ice cream, which was good.

When I signed up to play their $50 poker tourney, there was no one except 2 dealers and 1 wanna-be player sitting around talking. Absolutely no one was playing poker! I signed up for my tournament 2 hours before the game, then walked around. As I left to walk around some more, 2 other people came in to sit at the cash tables with the 1 player that was talking to the dealers and they had a 3 person cash game going.

The tournament I signed up for had about 14 players in a near empty poker room. They had about 15 tables there, if I remember correctly.

I would avoid playing poker at the Stratosphere and go to the Bellagio on the Strip or Golden Nugget on Fremont instead. With that said, Stratosphere is still worth taking a look at for the Observation Deck.
