LINQ hotel

Did you like this hotel/casino? Any good places to eat? How about the poker rooms? Anything happening there? What's good or not so good about the Linq?

Curious....

tourneys in vegas

Sending the wife down for her 50th in Aug want to put her in a tourney while she's there . Nothing over 500 Buy in NL Is there a way to pre check where tourneys are and pre register her before she leaves. Is it better to book hotels way in advance or wait for last minute deals

Strongly recommend the daily Aria - will be $125 except on Fri-Sun when it is an awesome $240 tournament. She would not need to pre-register but she would need to get there before the 1pm start.

Book the hotel in advance.

Anything on Fremont Street is going to be much cheaper than the strip. The Golden Nugget is my favorite poker room in Vegas. I never stayed there, but the prices are pretty reasonable compared to other places. When I was there, the poker room was always packed and always had $1/2 games going.

Safe, yes Fremont St is as safe as the rest of the strip in Vegas.
Close enough, depends. Fremont St has everything you need for a fun weekend without hitting the strip. You can't (or wouldn't want to) walk to the strip but the Blue/Gold bus lines start/stop at Fremont and travel up/down the strip so getting to the Bellagio fountains for example is very easy. Check out this link http://www.rtcsnv.com/ridethestrip/routes.html for the route map.

After years of staying at the Bellagio, which I still think is a great place, my wife suggested the Wynn for a change. We actually were in the Encore at the Wynn. The rooms are just beautiful, the hotel is very nice, with excellent casino facilities. The poker room in the Encore was pleasant to play in...it was nice that the regular poker room was used for cash games, while a large tournament took place in a roped off area nearby in the casino.
The food in the Wynn is excellent....Sinatra's was my favourite....what's not to love; great food with Sinatra songs playing in the background.

Yes, Uber in Vegas is really easy and they are all very friendly.
Each hotel has its own pick up spot designated for Uber passengers.

A lot better than renting a car if you are staying near the strip.

Flamingo, hmm?? Have to try there. Usually when I'm on that side of the road center strip I play Harrah's (or back in the day Oriental Palace). I like MGM too, good semi-soft action. Gotta try Hard Rock, it's supposed to be soft with drunks after midnight. Also, I hate waiting and waiting for a seat in my games, which ruins it at my favorite Bellagio and many other places.

Oh, and on Uber, they aren't all good or safe drivers. Had one picked me up Stratosphere, was supposed to take me to Orleans but went to wrong Boyd casino. Then he raised a stink and kicked me out of his car; definitely high on something. Rider beware, and Uber "management" rarely gives you any satisfaction or gets involved in individual problems.

I'll be there a week from now, so ready and eager ... And I like downtown hotels who have no resort fee and reasonable prices, like Four Queens or Californian. Fremont music/noise shuts down between 1:15 and 1:30am, so one can still get some sleep easily. Buses get you down the Strip when you want to go; buy a day or three-day pass, beats driving!

Re Uber - this trip the only issue I had was that Uber has 2 pick-up locations at the Rio - but you don't get an option when you order one and they all go to the front instead of the back Poker pick-up area. Donna had to cancel but was refunded.

100% of the time I have had an issue - and Donna says the same - they have refunded the money instantly.

With all of that said Lyft is cheaper so going to try it next time.
