Hey jeff hope all is good , just a question on bet sizing i will just use a recent hand i played as example, im in the cut off position with KK there are two players limp into the pot before i act, i raise 4x bb and get four callers, the flop comes all low cards i make half pot bet again four callers , long story short i had to fold in the end, is this down to size of my bets, shoud it be more? Cheers

Check out Jeff's latest video on our YouTube Channel! In this video, Jeff talks about variance and perspective, and why it is so important to be able to be honest about your game play. Is it really just bad luck?

You'll also see how even pros can have a skewed perspective about their play, as Jeff shows a tweet from Phil Galfond showing Daniel Negreanu's and Doug Polk's very different takes on their opponents' play in their infamous grudge match.

Have questions for Jeff Gross? You can ask them right here in the thread! And don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel!

Hello Jeff, I occasionally stream on twitch and I have a really good question which has been bothering me, I am hoping you can help.

I know how to acces hand histories on pokerstars and I know how to use it in the CC hand replayer which is an excellent tool btw.

However, I want to make a video with hands from various tournaments from pokerstars and put them together. So I have a list of hand histories but Im unable to put them into a hand replayer on stars. I can use the virtual hand replayer during a tournament and to go over those hands but how do I get older hands into a stars replayer ?

I see for example when Daniel negreanu post hands after his games he plays them from a hand replayer I think but hes able to click immediately to specific hands rather than click through them to find a specific hand, how is this done?

I could probably make videos of hands after each tournament using the replayer then piece them together with a voice over but seems like alot of hassle, I just want to look back over them at a later date.

Thanks

David

It sounds like that when you are up you may be playing timid to lock up a win! Also it is possible that when you are losing you are forcing it to get "unstuck". It's hard to say without some examples of hands/sessions but that would be my first instinct! Would just play and not worry if up or down as much as possible just play each hand how you believe is best to play!
This sounds like me haha. So spot on but that's why you're a pro.

I was looking into some pro players winning graphs and i saw a pattern of adaptation, where they all had something in common: they lose a certain ammount of money before start to win alot.
How do one avoid that loss, and how long did you take to start winning?

Great question; the biggest difference w/ cash games and tournaments is cash games you generally have a deeper stack and always deep (if you choose to rebuy to top up). Tournaments there are a lot of different/short stack situations you come across so you need a lot more push-fold understanding. But deep stack plays about the same!

How do you become a pro player? Tell us a little about your poker journey, what were your initial difficulties? Have you thought about giving up in the first steps before becoming a professional? A hug there, comrade, regards bioman42O.

Ah yes! this is a very big one! I have worked on this for my 20 year career and just like my actual game the mental side is something I am always looking to master. The biggest thing is to think about life in general and variance of other things. Realize how fortunate are in so many areas of life!

This would be best done to study more first and play low stakes and set firm rules before moving up stakes! So many ppl want to just dive in and play; this is fine but you need to study also and not over step buy ins and size of game!

Hey! Yes if you are having great success are your current buy in level this may be a good time to take it to the next level! Exercising good bankroll management is always a good thing however and if you are winning consistently there is something to be said about that!
