Which country would that be? If you're referring to Australia, the figure is a tiny bit lower than 200K daily new cases at the moment.
Australia is now living with Covid19, while all effort is still being made to stop the spread, a rise in daily new Covid19 cases was expected, the highest it ever got to was on one day, January 13th 2022 when it got to 153K.

I'm not anti-vaccine, I've taken both doses, but I'm totally against wanting to force an adult to get vaccinated, I think just testing them and following the protocols would be enough for him to play the tournament

No one was forcing him to get vaccinated. If he doesn't want to get the vaccine, he can stay out of Australia and not play in the tournament.

That's where Djokovic's juvenile attitude to vaccination was his undoing. Have at your free will in your backyard (where if we are talking Serbia he has obviously endangered others) but don't expect others to welcome you with open arms.
As has been noted a thousand times...if Djokovic was making a 'principled' stand, he could have stayed home in Serbia. He wanted to have his cake and eat it.

Well, he got the official medical exemption from the Aussie Tennis Association, so he could definitely have played if he had been allowed to stay in the country.
Getting through the border was his biggest obstacle. In that, he failed rather spectacularly.
I'm sure they tried really hard, but his "team" did a miserable job. Incorrectly filled in forms and statements that can be construed as prescient lies (probably not a legal term) will doom most Government applications if anyone is paying attention. And boy were people paying attention.

Apart from mtl mile end's post above re the policing of the border, by the time the case was reviewed by the three judges (to see whether Djokovic had a legal leg to stand on) everyone, including the judges was well aware that Djokovic had openly disregarded Covid protocols whilst infected in Serbia in the period directly before flying to Australia.
As the Immigration Minister stated, he was not going to be allowed to be the poster boy for the anti-vaccination contingent on Australian soil.

If you couldn’t get covid from taking the vaccine, then it would be a different story. But it’s not the case. It’s unfortunate governments are creating these rules and forcing people to get vaccinated. Everyone is in a different boat in terms of risk.
