I'll just write something brief and blunt and no one has to agree with me but vaccine, drugs or whatever reason, few people like Djokovic (it doesn't matter if I or you despise his character, personality, behaviour or actions, as I do and he was obnoxious in this case) should have some sort of global immunity. Just like politicians have diplomatic immunity, people who have done amazing things and worked their arse off to keep pleasing the whole damn world for decades with whatever they do, be it sport, art, work or anything else, should be excluded from "usual folk" because they are not usual. I mean these are people who rarely get any contact with anyone and they are there for the rest of this world's entertainment and should be treated with utmost respect, not fined and arrested.

Similar vaccine/covid/quarantine thing happened at the football Euro final last year where they fined Sir Mick Jagger £12k. I mean, really? He highly likely had little contact with any other people all his life and he risks his life everytime he does. At least he didn't get arrested.

Of course, there's arguments that this wouldn't be fair and everyone should be treated equally. No, it's not fair, and it should not always be. There's many other things that are more unfair than this. And definitely no, not everyone should be treated equally. This is just a false fantasy of frustrated people who have not done anything worthy of respect in their life and likely never will but want to be treated equally to people who have.

Gotta keep in mind that tennis folks are kinda funny that way, I remember a tourney just last year where the tennis ball didn't treat jokie with the proper respect & he slammed a ball that hit an official. Instead of telling the damn official that she was in the presence of one of the special people & should be grateful for the honor, be dammed if the small minded little people actually held him accountable. I mean if I was one of the special folks & could do something as important as hit a ball with a racket better than almost anyone, I would have quit the sport then & there. The nerve of some people.

The Australian open without Djokovic is losing spectator interest.
Always watched Grand Slams, but now I watch only Nadal's matches

Good grief, welcome to 1921 where everyone knew their place.

Rather presumptuous...losing spectator interest...

Spectators do not no show at Wimbledon or Roland Garros because the top seed might be out injured do they? In fact, as Djokovic is really not as well liked as others, many are fine with his non-appearance. I prefer to see the most competitive take to the field but under these circumstances, I am not bothered.

In the year 2022 a man should have a right to play a tourney without wanting to get vaccinated. He has a right to choose. Also, this was a political decision, because Nole is a Serb, and if he was from the US or germany, france,he would of gotten accepted right away.

I read today Nikola Karabatic has the Covid and is playing the European Handball Championship..

Andrej Rubljov admitted that he came to Australia with the Covid and they released him at the border without any problems!

Can this provoke a negative reaction from the people, are all the rules followed, and if so, although I think they are not followed, I think that there should be a some limit for the vaccinated,.. And that all vaccinated people have equal rights, not that some have privileges, not because they are big athletes, but only because they are from BIG countries

These people are not prevented, without thinking whether they will infect someone, especially people who have not been vaccinated, whether anyone is thinking about it ...

And someone who get over Covid in last 6 Months was returned only that we can see the strength of one 'powerful' country!

I just wonder where this ******* world is going!

I'm not anti-vaccine, I've taken both doses, but I'm totally against wanting to force an adult to get vaccinated, I think just testing them and following the protocols would be enough for him to play the tournament
But, that's where he fckd up, he didn't follow the isolating protocols when he knew he was infected, he didn't give a shit about anyone but himself.

Exercising free will is fine until you decide that your free will takes precedent over others

That's where Djokovic's juvenile attitude to vaccination was his undoing. Have at your free will in your backyard (where if we are talking Serbia he has obviously endangered others) but don't expect others to welcome you with open arms.

As has been noted a thousand times...if Djokovic was making a 'principled' stand, he could have stayed home in Serbia. He wanted to have his cake and eat it.
Carful, you may upset some by saying Serbia.

Did you know about this. Looks to me that he needs to not have the vaccine, he needs to be able to say "I didn't get the vaccine, I used (insert homeopathy cure name here) and I survived, Only $199.99 for 1 month dose, grab yourself a bargain"

;)
Does anyone believe that he could have played unvaxed if he handled this differently?
No, Australian entry requirements include being vaccinated, only way would be for him to be vaccinated before entering Australia.

:)
Well, he got the official medical exemption from the Aussie Tennis Association, so he could definitely have played if he had been allowed to stay enter in the country.

Getting through the border was his biggest obstacle. In that, he failed rather spectacularly.

I'm sure they tried really hard, but his "team" did a miserable job. Incorrectly filled in forms and statements that can be construed as prescient lies (probably not a legal term) will doom most Government applications if anyone is paying attention. And boy were people paying attention.
FYP.

;)
so.. I cant find two of my posts..:deal::joyman:
Probably deleted for lack of quality, just like this post of your will most likely be deleted, it has nothing to do with this thread.

Maybe next could be separating the black people from the white people.

:hmmmm:

It is mizerable that some country releases to come infected athletes just because they have been vaccinated, without thinking about their citizens! This forcing people to get vaccinated has reached a higher level!

And healthy people are not released just because they are not vaccinated, and so they want to force citizens to be vaccinated with a vaccine that has not been tested at all, and has side effects that even the manufacturer can not predict!
