We didn't want to spoil out impeccable penalty record apparently. Still a pretty epic evenning.

Just an incredible day. Superb performances across the board. Farah on the final lap was real goosebump, spinetingling stuff. Rutherford just jumped so solidly in tricky conditions, absolutely amazing

And Jessica? Well I think the room got a little bit dusty on the last lap. Utterly dominant

As you may have noticed, this OP has been rather GB centred, but this is our games dammnit. This is our year, this is our chance. Our chance to prove we can take ourselves and our sport seriously, we can win, we have athletes who are feared above all others by their opponents, we can put on a show that is the envy of the world, we can prove all those naysayers wrong, those who say 'Oh but it was overbudget' 'Oh but there's been problems with security, transport, blah blah blah'

Please shut the **** up, because I don't care. This is the ****ing Olympics, and this year it's ours. Let's enjoy it.

Great Britain. Take the stage.

Would've loved to see Bekele at the top of his game take on Mo tonight, would've been legendary.

Yeah hopefully Bekele will be back to full fitness soon, could be some truly epic races in the next couple of years

Mitt Romney are you watching in your ivory tower?

Is the country behind it? - are we ready for it?

What a day

Based on medals per capita, GB would be miles ahead in both tables. ;)

Though I wish some of those diks in the crowd would learn the right way to display the union jack, upside down really pisses me off.

Looks promising for Murray.

The thing is, I can't help but think federer/djokovic are too bothered about a medals final match (if this is the right word, don't want to sound disrespectful) but had this been a grand slam final/bronze finals I'm sure both federer + djokovic would of been coming out on top of both games. It just looks too easy for Murray at the minute, which is never usually the case :p

Either way, I'm happy if he wins the gold! :D

You only have to see the way Fed fought like a bastard against JMDP to see what it means to him. Olympic gold is the one thing he doesn't have and this is his last chance

Given that this is one event that Federer has never won and he is retiring soon I'd say he cares a lot.

The London games have been fantastic. Not to mention, the opening ceremonies were the most entertaining. I love the photos you posted to start the thread.
And, yes the Brits are doing very well ,indeed. I don't think anyone really expected them to do this well. How about that Jessica Ennis, huh?

He just doesn't seem his dominate self at all.

Give this a grand slam final 10 times over I think you see a different federer ;)

Maybe I'm looking for to many negatives and not applauding murray enough! (go murray!!), just looking like a 3-0 set win when you only go back one month ago to the exact same court and surface to see a totally different story.

ps: He does have an Olympic gold by the way even if it only in doubles.

Yes I know he has a doubles gold but that pales into comparison with the singles. Seriously, he cares

Whatever

Truly incredible. I gave him little to no chance with the Wimbledon final in mind and the fact he played 2 matches yesterday but that was incredible.

Got a few bets on for the 100m, not one of them has Bolt winning. Blake and Bolt 1,2 at 17/10, a treble of Blake win/the 'field' vs Bolt/Gay to medal, and a couple of quid on Gay at 20/1 which is such a good price I couldn't pass it up.

This is mainly due to Bolt looking pretty ragged, but I'm also sort of hoping it reverse jinxes a 9.4 from Bolt :D

I dont really like Murray but all credit to him, he was awesome. Dont for one minute think that Federer took it lightly, He has talked for the last four years about how much he wanted to win the gold medal on the court he considers his own property.
Anyone who beats Djorkavic in the semi and Federer in the final deserves all the plaudits they get.:D

WELL DONE ANDY :tee:

ps I dont know how he will have the energy to play in the mixed doubles final after that?
