Mighty Mouse deserves some respect from Dana. He doesnt respect him at all. All though i think Mighty Mouse should have fought Dillishaw when it was broght up. Mighty Mouse is still a beast

i do think ufc NEEDs to open a 165 division and move welter up to 175. so fighterts like kevin lee, tony ferguson, RDA, khabib, nate diaz, cowboy cerrone, u know those fighters that are way too big for 155 and small on 170 will have a place to fight at their best

I mean, there might be arguments for adding more weight classes, but I don't think it'll solve this particular problem. Whatever the weight class (outside of heavyweight I guess) there will always be guys who try to cut massive amounts of weight because they think it gives them an advantage. The solution is to fix weight cutting practices, not add more weight classes.

I'm kinda torn on the Dillashaw bout - it would have been an excellent fight, but I can 100% see where Mighty Mouse was coming from. He already has problems with actual flyweights missing weight and ditching fights on him. So agreeing to fight a guy who's never fought at flyweight before would be taking a huge risk.

Just look at any photo of TJ Dillashaw at a weigh in where he's just made 135 - where is he supposed to lose another 10 pounds from?!?

I've got a lot of respect for Dillashaw, he's a pro, but you've gotta figure he misses weight trying to make 125 a lot of the time. And where does that leave DJ? Doing a whole training camp for a fight that might get cancelled two days out, or suddenly having to fight a catchweight non-title fight against a guy that's a decent amount bigger than him? He'd be taking a bunch of huge, unnecessary risks there, and the rewards probably wouldn't be much better than fighting an actual flyweight.

eh i mean i know the type .. kinda like when connor was at 145 almost killing himself to make weight, he did it smart because he knew he couldnt make that weight eventually so he started there and as soon as he won the title he said ok im done here and went up to 155 where he is more comfortable, and actually in his weight. the thing is a case like cowboy cerrone, he is right now at 170 and he is good at it, but you see fighters like benson henderson, he is way too big for 155, he struggles so much to make that weight but when he goes to 170 he looks just too damn small so the case here is if you make those 170 go down lower to 165 so fighters like say tyron woodley, gsp jonny hendrix would have to fight at 175 and fighters like henderson or cerrone or even kevin lee fight at 165 it would both make the weight classes more even by having fighters either fight their size more healthy or fight smaller guys but draining themselves too much affectin their cardio. i mean look at the rda case, he fought a cardio beast like ferguson at 155 and couldnt handle it, but he fought magny at 170 and destroyed him, i do think that 1 more weight class will fix it

Yeah I agree. And for what it's worth, it seems to be the fight McGregor himself is angling for too so hopefully we get it.

got a few parlays in for tonight's fights.
Any comments re: picks for this evening?

I have Maia on just about every bet... surprised to see he's a slight underdog tonight. I can't see him losing this one.

Up until the Maia fight I had 5 of 6, 4 of 5, 3 of 4 & 2 of 3 on a list of parlays coming in... one fight left in each I needed & he lost it miserably :( ugh! Was feeling pretty pumped up until that fight, lol. "Yes!!!!..... w-aaaaaaat.... NoooooOOooooooo!!!!!"

He looked pretty bad doing it too. I think it must be time catching up with him and everyone knowing that as long as they avoid going to the mat with him he's very beatable.

Might just be done.

I expect Anderson to call out GSP if he wins his next fight on the 25th. And UFC / Dana will make it. It is the biggest money fight to make at that weight.

Never expected Rose to beat JJ

I don't think it would be a good Idea for Conor to take a fight with GSP outside the money he could possibly make.

So happy for Rose and GSP. Both deserved it. While they had dominant victories (especially Rose of course), I think it's going to be a very tough challenge to keep those belts.

First time I don't want Joanna to win a fight, and also I really wanted Rose to win.

So happy to see her win... and by knockout! WOW. Actually she tapped due to strikes. Didn't see that one coming.

It was a smart tap .. she was done. Joanna was all messed up while trying to get up. She was in la la land.

While she did tap.... I kind of wish they awarded the TKO instead.

I'm a big Rose Namajunas fan, couldn't be happier for her, obviously fought a great fight.

Can't for the life of me understand the "this is great for the UFC" / "glad to see Joanna lose" takes though. Joanna is amazing! Still quite probably the best technical striker in any division, male or female. Great promoter outside the cage too, which is something they're not likely to get from Rose.

Will be very interested to see what they do next with both fighters, whether they make the obvious rematch or whether Joanna moves on to 125 instead. If they don't make the rematch I suspect we're probably in for a period of turbulence like there was at 135 after Rousey lost because again, as much as I like Rose and think she's got a great skill set, I can't see her being a dominant champion. Fighters like Gadelha, Andrade and others will be huge tests for her.

Good on GSP for getting the win and the paper belt. Will they let him get his clock cleaned by Bobby Knuckles next time out?

Dana says GSP is to face Whittaker but I highly suspect IF Anderson wins his upcoming fight we are going to get GSP vs. Anderson for the belt. Afterwards GSP will be done at 185 lbs. In which case he likely fights for the WW belt again then Conor in the biggest money fight the UFC has ever put on. GSP likely retires after he beats Conor.

If he faces Whittaker and drops the belt that sets up the Anderson fight again and puts the rest back in place. If he Beats Whittaker there will likely be no Anderson fight.

I don't think it's a coincidence that GSP comes back when Bisping is MW champion. Bisping was probably GSP's greatest chance at getting the belt. I think GSP will have a tough time defending against a lot of current MW contenders... including Rockhold!

Yeah. I mean GSP is and always will be an all-time great of the sport, nothing but respect for him, etc. I guess he'd be a live dog in just about any fight. But he'd be starting as the massive underdog against Whitaker, Romero and Rockhold. Probably against Jacare and Weidman too, though who knows where those two are really at these days.

There's some very winnable fights in the bottom half of the MW rankings for him, but who really wants to see him fight Vitor or Machida or even Uriah Hall?

There are probably some interesting, relevant and more winnable fights for him back at 170. The problem is a fight with Woodley would probably be a snoozer. But GSP vs Lawler, RDA, Condit, Wonderboy? Those are all interesting. They don't fit in with the "GSP, middleweight champion" thing though...

GSP isn't fighting any of those interesting matches you suggest. He didn't come back to just fight again. He came back to further his legacy and have big money fights. He went after the second title and won it. I suspect he goes after Anderson next if the opportunity arises. He wants Big or Big Money fights. He may go after the 170 title again if he loses the one he already has. Who knows may he wants to hold two belts at the same time.

Anderson winning his next fight is the best outcome for GSP. That would justify giving Anderson the next shot at GSP.

He wants Big or Big Money fights.

Real talk though, there's only one legit Big Money fight in the UFC right now, and that's Conor McGregor.

In pretty much any other fight, GSP would be his own draw. Last time Anderson Silva fought, it was as the co-main on UFC208, one of the worst-selling PPVs in recent history. It's been years (and multiple losses) since he was a legit PPV draw, there's no evidence he is that any more. There's no evidence yet that GSP still is either, for what it's worth :p

But the point is, if GSP fights anyone other than Conor then he is the draw. Sure some opponents would probably sell better than others (Anderson, Nick Diaz, probably Condit or Lawler), but none of them would be legit BIG MONEY fights in the same way Conor would.

And as for his legacy... I mean nobody took Bisping seriously as MW champ, so how seriously are we supposed to take GSP winning that title from him unless he fights actual MW (or WW) contenders after that?
