How about that for Maia, Well deserved win.

Maia is a guddam boss. And he made me money in this fight. Nice :)

It would be a huuuuuuge money fight but I 100% dont see this happening in the near future. Although with ufc 206 being in Toronto you could certainly suggest GSP's return for December - seemingly against Woodley. That seems very possible in my eyes, who else would they have headlining a Canadian PPV??

Yeah that seems by far the most likely scenario for his return - IIRC the story was he re-entered the USADA testing pool exactly four months before the scheduled date for 206 in Toronto. So while it's not a lock that he appears on that card, it certainly seems like the one he's targeting.

All this talk of Woodley/GSP begs the question though, does he (GSP) deserve an immediate title shot at WW?

99% of the time a fighter that takes a 3 year lay off should not get an immediate shot but in his case I say yes.

Agree/disagree??

Georges St-Pierre has revealed three potential opponents for his highly anticipated return to the Octagon. And is wanting to return to competition at UFC 206 on Dec. 10 at the Air canada Centre in Toronto.

The three he listed are:

Tyron Woodley, Nick Diaz and Demaian Maia.

http://fansided.com/2016/08/31/georges-st-pierre-ufc-206-toronto/

Out of those three options my guess is we see GSP vs Diaz 2. It would be the safest fight for him to take. And it would take a fight like this to get Nick Diaz back in the octagon. Afterwards a title shot or maby we finally get to see G.S.P. vs Anderson then a final retirement.

Unless UFC actually offers him Conor then that would be the biggest ( money wise ) for him to take. And one with the least amount of risk of G.S.P. losing.

Yes, G.S.P. deserves an immediate title shot. Many defenses and "retiring" with the belt. I think the real question is ...... should he be asking for one. Like you said, it has been 3 years. He should go after a Nick Diaz fight or something similar to gage were he is at.

I'm fine with GSP getting an immediate title shot, but at the same time I don't need to see that fight.

I think him fighting Maia would be a terrible idea: somebody is getting embarrassed and made to look really bad in that fight.

GSP fighting Nick Diaz at moneyweight is absolutely fine by me.

On the whole of todays card there isnt a single fight that really excites me. Latifi/Bader might be a good brawl but other than that the rest are a bit meh.

Hope I'm proven wrong.

I'm kind of interested to see how Gus looks while he's squashing Blachowicz, Bader/Latifi could be good or it could be awful like Latifi's fight with Gian Villante. And Arlovski/Barnett should be interesting.

Beyond those guys I'll freely admit I don't recognise most of the fighters.

Who do you like for the win here? I like Barnett and think he can get the W here if he can get this fight to the ground.

There is some really strong BJJ guys in the HW division, like Rothwell and Verdum but he (Barnett) is easily one of the best.

I've got Barnett round 2. Hope gus puts a show on, hopefully he can get a couple wins under his belt and be right back up for title contention. I like him as a fighter,

Obviously it's after the event now it it doesn't matter so much - I was picking Barnett mostly because he's a smart enough fighter to avoid Arlovski's right hand, and Arlovski only really has a right hand.

It wasn't one I felt strongly enough about to bet on though.

I haven't seen the Gus fight in full but it sounds like he underwhelmed.

Re: Gus. Yes most definitely. Should have done so much more to be honest. You will see for yourself when you watch it. Credit to Blachowicz though. He did well.

Gus dominated the fight on the ground with some nice takedowns but on the feet didn't look all that impressive really. There's already talk about Jon Jones first fight back being against gus which would be interesting to say the least.

Also how about that start to arlovski v Barnett!! Arlovski rocked Barnett rocked and then arlovski rocked again all in less than 10 seconds! Really enjoyed that fight.

Who's watching TUF 24?

Will be a great season if the first two fights are anything to go by.

They needed to freshen it up a bit so the whole concept of a house full of champions is a great idea IMO. Some really good fighters in there.

I'm watching although I know whoever wins will lose QUICKLY to Mighty Mouse. I mean he's beaten both of the coaches so the chances of someone from these smaller orgs even deserving to be in the same ring is very slim.

Of course I dont think anyone actually expects the winner to beat DJ, but it will be a good season.

At the very least they will have 3-4 new names in a division that needs new blood.

Agreed. The fights leading up to the title match should be excellent.

Yeah if any of these guys individually had a shot at beating Mighty Mouse I think the UFC would have signed them earlier.

It's a solid gimmick for the show though (which I never watch, it's not readily available on TV over here) and it'll give the flyweight division some badly needed depth, assuming a good chunk of them hang around.

McCall/Borg pulled from 203 due to Ray Borg illness. Thats two fights in a row that have been pulled at short notice for ''Uncle Creepy''.

Unlucky.

203 still looking like a great card though. Main should be a cracker, if it lasts long enough!! LOL. Looking forward to Faber/Rivera most on this card.

How do you guys feel about a certain Mr Brooks that is fighting on this card?

I think Mr Brooks is almost certainly going to lose.

I'm just glad they're not going full Bellator and booking a complete freakshow - instead he's fighting a guy who's only had two pro fights himself. But Brooks is old, has a ton of injuries from his pro wrestling days, and has zero actual combat sports experience to draw on. This isn't going to go well for him.

Feel bad for McCall, he's been sidelined with his own issues for so long, and now he gets pulled through no fault of his own twice in a row...

I think Gall is going to steamroll CM Punk. Probably will win by submission. I respect CM Punk for going for it, but he hasn't looked that good from what we have seen.

I think it will be interesting to see if Overeem can take out Miocic.

Gall first round submission. All credit to punk though, big balls to jump into the UFC, I wish him well! Don't think it's gonna be a spectacular fight by any means, actually surprised it's on the main card at all, this would have been perfect for a fight pass main fight.

Also as much as I've grown to love stipe from the embedded episodes I think overeem will come away with the belt. Certainly gonna be an exciting main event!

Yeah, this. You don't sign a major name away from the WWE and then not squeeze that signing for every dollar it's worth. For the UFC, that means putting the fight on PPV.

I wonder how many extra PPV's Punk is going to pull in. ... ( I know he was one of the top stars in WWE ) Maby it's just me but it doesn't seem to be allot of hype around his UFC debut. At least not as much as I would expect a top WWE star would have.

he got his own ufc show.
he is on the screengrab of this ufc embedded.
they are milking him for all he is worse.
as long as he doesn't get his face broken in 30 seconds and carted out unconscious, he should be fine for another few fights.
