N'yeah... except Carano isn't even close to being on the same level as Rousey - in or out of the cage.

And while you can say that GSP, Silva and other champions on the men's side of the game are paragons of virtue who sell their fights without resorting to douchebaggery you're conspicuously leaving off the men who do engage in that behaviour.

Jon Jones, who is still the sport's P4P king and still one of its biggest draws, for example. He's a bigger douche than Rousey will ever be. Daniel Cormier has proved he's not below sinking to that level either. Chael Sonnen made a career out of this exact kind of behavour, with the kicker that he couldn't back it up in the ring like Rousey could. Let's not even get started on Conor McGregor, who proves that people do this because it works... hell, even Mighty Mouse is starting to engage in his own tame version of this behaviour because nobody was paying attention to him when he was being polite and respectful to everyone.

And that's before you go back in the sport's history. If you look at the kind of fighters who made the sport big in the first place, and broke the kind of ground for the men's game that Rousey broke for women, you'll find guys like Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz who acted like total assclowns, but did what was required to get their fights noticed.

So while I know she's the topic du jour, I don't really understand why you're singling Rousey out. If anything, she's just following the exact template that male fighters have been setting out for over a decade.

I never stated that Ronda Rousey is the only arrogant person in the UFC. There are tons. Diaz brothers, Chael Sonnen, Michael Bisping, Tito Ortiz, etc. It's why it's so satisfying when they get their asses kicked and get heavily humbled down. Carlos Condit and Benson Henderson schooling Diaz brothers easily, Dan Henderson knocking Michael Bisping out, etc have all satisfied me. Anytime they act like douchebags, my mind says "i can't wait till those numbnuts get knocked the f*** out." and when they do, it's so much satisfying.

You can sell fights without acting like a douchebag. It's why I am fan of humble, true champs, such as Jose Aldo, GSP, Anderson Silva, Fedor, Carlos Condit, Chris Weidman, Lyoto Machida, Benson Henderson, BJ Penn, Holly Holm, etc, not some douchebags such as Rousey, Diaz brothers, Chael Sonnen, Bisping, etc.
I however, was a fan of Brock Lesnar because I loved watching him coming from pro wrestling and ground and pound the s*** out of champions while getting revenge on Frank Mir who just loves talking s*** as well although I found it hilarious. Brock Lesnar was an exception bcz it was fun watching him.

I've trained Muay Thai on and off for 5 years but 3 of those years, I've trained it consistently. From my experience of witnessing victors opposed to losers, it's usually the quiet ones who win the fights, which I find it very funny.

Maybe but it's the mouthy ones who make the money.

Isn't that the truth. Conor is a Prime example. He has beat only one top fighter. Yet is one of if not the top paid fighter in his division / making more than most in the UFC regardless of division. I am not sure if he gets paid more than the champion or not. But it wouldn't surprised me if he did.

Ronda is the highest paid fighter in the UFC. Conner is 2nd. Lesner had some huge paydays. Both Diaz brothers are draws. Mighty Mouse on the other hand has to pass out fliers in the street to get people to watch him fight.

Lesnar got big money because of WWE. Nate gets significantly less than Nick. I think both their drawing power is over-rated. Although I do like watching them fight. I also take what fighters / Dana and company say about fighter pay lightly.

You can try, I guess. Most of the people you've mentioned aren't able to pull the kind of numbers Rousey and McGregor now pull though. GSP, Silva, maybe Fedor or BJ back in the day. But Condit, Weidman, Machida, Benson, Holm? Nope. Minor injuries aside there's a reason Condit-Lawler was shifted off the UFC193 stadium show - it's because they wouldn't have been able to sell it. Not even close.

And Aldo... Aldo in particular is famous for being terrible at selling fights. On his own he does PPVs in the low 200k range. Win, lose or draw, he should be thanking Conor McGregor for the rest of his days for doing all the work for him and finally bringing him a big payday.

Point is being a douche to hype a fight has proven to work again and again and again. People respond to it. People buy the tickets, buy the PPVs. So while it might not be classy, you can't blame the fighters for just doing what works - after all, people have voted with their wallets and told the fighters that it's what they want to see.

I'm not gonna debate about the fact that being a douchebag or an asshole makes more money. Facts and statistics prove it.

It was just satisfying so much that whenever I state my opinion of what kind of bitch she is, how her striking sucks but she's fortunate that she just has deadly ground game that lot of fighters adjust their stance to prevent takedowns and focus on ground game that they leave themselves wide open for an attack, people thought I didn't know shit and that I'm just a hater. Look at the result now. I've proven my point. Ronda's striking was terrible. Even as former Muay Thai practitioner, her striking form was terrible. It's just a right time to tell all the Rousey fans that they're deluded and that they're oblivious to knowing anything about fighting since they've never fought in their lives or have any kind of amateur record in any fighting sports or arts. Pretty much two middle fingers to rousey fans and a laugh at rousey getting her ass kicked by deadly striker who has fitted my ideal model of fighter of what it takes to beat Rousey. I was getting tired of Rousey's bitchfit and ridiculous comments such as saying she can beat up floyd mayweather or beat up miesha tate's boyfriend. Or how she wants to beat up kardashian who has never gripped a fist in their lives and ever punched someone. Most they've done was slapping people although I hate Kardashians myself. But is Rousey actually proud of being capable of beating up Kardashian? LOL. And all those disrespectful gestures such as not touching gloves before the fight, not shaking her opponents hands, etc. I knew her actions are gonna cost her soon but just turned out sooner than I thought.

Only respect I give to Rousey is that she's still a true warrior and I respect her way more than I'll ever respect Floyd Mayweather as a fighter. Rousey was one of the fighters who was still out there to prove that she was the greatest women fighter in the world and she was till her fight against Holm. Rousey challenged all women out in the world and was up for any challenge that UFC put her up with. Mayweather doesn't have balls to do that. Has to wait out for Pacquiao to past his prime and also takes all of his fights to decisions. Rousey ended almost all of her fights within round 1.

I think Weidman vs Rockhold is going to be a great fight.

Looking forward for tomorrow's Henderson vs Masvidal, although I would have prefered the original fight, against Pitbull.

Oh okay... now I get why you know so much about fighting... you're a former women's muay thai fighter.

Ditto, and I don't think it's getting anywhere near enough attention.

I'm taking Weidman in that one but I expect it'll be close.

Same here, close fight and wins Weidman.

To me, this should be the last fight of the night, but...

And how about the Co-Main Event, Jim Miller vs Michael Chiesa. It has to be a good fight, no way it won't be!

I like Jim Miller a lot, but he hasn't been great in his most recent fights...

So many amazing fights over the next few days. I'm betting Romero, Rockhold and maybe Aldo if the price gets a little better as the fight approaches.

I'm not betting, but I think all 3 are going to lose... that is, I'd like Jacare, Weidman and McGregor to win. :)

What a Main Card!

I think it's going to be entertaining, looks like a good matchup against Chiesa, anyone could win. Hopefully it'll be a battle. Don't really have a favorite here, just hoping for a good fight.

I'd like to see Weidman win actually. Just not betting on him. :)
