So Ronda Rousey has arrived in town ahead of UFC 193 and between media misreporting and people just not understanding the sport it's been fascinating to hear the impressions people are coming away with :p

There were a couple of people at my gym the other day, for example, who saw some story or other and came away absolutely convinced that Rousey used to have to fight people in the streets to get money to eat

Others came away with the idea that kicks to the head aren't allowed in MMA... so I'm thinking they might be in for a rude shock if they happen to catch the 193 co-main event.

I think what's most interesting though is that none of them mentioned the UFC as such: they all said "oh, you're going to see Rousey?"

I know it's a bit early but what do you guys think?
Aldo vs McGregor?

Im a big McGregor fan since day 1 in UFC, he just has some magic i recognized immediately but Jose is almost unbeatable. Hope Conor can do something about that.

Interest Good Post Thank.

So in happier news, I bought my tickets to UFC193 yesterday. Good thing they added Stefan Struve to the card, at least there's one fighter who won't look like an ant from where we're sitting :p

Have a good time/ Have fun :D

Dont be so sure about that. Conor has a very good defensive jiu-jitsu and Im pretty sure Aldo would like to KO him more than submit.

Yeah, no doubt Aldo wants to KO him. As the saying goes it's Aldo's fight to lose.

Conor has the worst ground game out of the elite fighters in his weight class. Aldo will have no problem taken him down if he chooses to. Doesn't matter if He subs him or not. A decision win is still a win. Aldo is 25-1 for a reason. I think the UFC hype machine is making some forget who Aldo is. ( not saying you , just in general )

Of course Conor has a chance and could get the win, he does hit hard.

Rousey fought a high caliber striker and got EXPOSED.

Not surprised to see Holly pick Rousey apart. Nice to see a humble champion. +1 for Jackson MMA. Now it's time for Jon Jones to get his belt back :D

Ronda try'd to outbox a kickboxer. She should have been constantly pushing for a take-down. The only thing that got exposed was Ronda gas tank. She is still very skilled. There is already talks of a rematch. If Ronda doesn't push for that take down and get the finish in the first couple rounds. She most likely will lose again.

Great win for the new champion.

Amazing performance by Holly Holm. She was even able to take Ronda down and was great in a clinch. I don't like women MMA but I had to watch that fight and Im glad I did.

Others came away with the idea that kicks to the head aren't allowed in MMA...

So... that was a bit of a weird omen

Looked to me like Rousey either didn't have a Plan B if she couldn't get the clinch/takedown, or she took so many shots to the head in the first round that she forgot what Plan B was.

Perfect performance from Holm.

Amazing fight from JJ in the co-main event too. The less said about Struve-Rosholt the better I think though. Hunt-Bigfoot was kind of an anticlimax but at least the right guy won this time.

A few other thoughts from being there:

- So they broke the attendance record, but only just... I think by less than 500 people? Being inside I thought it was gonna be more than that. There were a lot of empty seats on the upper level at either end but everything on the floor, lower levels and sides seemed to be filled.

- If you heard booing during the middle of JJ-Letourneau it had nothing to do with the action in the cage, bunch of clowns were disappointed that the Mexican wave had stopped in the crowd.

- Watching the UFC and not having to listen to Mike Goldberg is a pleasant experience :)

I missed struve fight...

That's something to be happy about, it was horrible. And I say this as someone who doesn't mind slower-paced ground fights.

Rosholt just gets guys down and then does... nothing. I almost feel like Struve got robbed because even if he spent the majority of round two on the bottom at least he actually did something occasionally.

I think it is a possible Ronda didn't train as she normally does. She might have too many things going on at once. She is working on a movie + believing her own hype + destroying everyone prior = less training. She also didn't look to be in the same kind of shape she usually is. Being gassed in the second round gives my theory some weight ... But that is all speculation.
