The 184 card is looking incredible lackluster with Weidman-Vitor pulled. Loser leaves town for Ellenberger-Kos?

Once upon a time yeah, loser would definitely be getting fired. Both guys have name recognition though and you know Bellator would sign them in a heartbeat because LOL they pay Royce Gracie just to turn up and say dumb stuff.

The UFC probably doesn't want to give Bellator that kind of help, so I wouldn't be surprised if the loser gets to keep their job...

So here's one of those fun conundrums for the weekend: the Holm-Pennington fight.

Holm has won 6 of her 7 fights by (T)KO. Pennington has never been knocked out. So what are the chances Holm gets the KO victory this weekend? Is her KO victory count inflated because she's only ever fought against lower-level competition? Has Pennington never been knocked out just because she hasn't faced a striker on Holm's level?

Me too, but the question is will she? :p

Also, for those who thought Scott Coker was gonna turn Bellator into some kind of circus sideshow... you're basically being proven right! We're finally getting the fight between two broken-down has-beens that nobody was asking for, but loads of people will watch anyway: KIMBO v SHAMROCK LOL: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2378391-kimbo-slice-vs-ken-shamrock-set-for-bellator-bout-june-20

Hahaha wow! What a joke. Makes me want to throw my head down in shame for the game & walk away...

As for UFC 184, I can't wait!

How shocking would it be if Pennington ended up KOing Holm? I honestly don't care who wins that fight but it's def going to be exciting!

Yeah, used to be three in a row and you go, with some exceptions. Hardy got a fifth chance after losing four in a row, but that was when Dana was trying to cater to the UK market. Anyway one of these guys will likely be on a four fight losing streak after tonight. And WW is stacked ATM, I wouldn't miss either guy. Ellenberg has fought like deer caught in the headlights lately; hesitant to pull the trigger, gun-shy, no confidence.

Pennington has never fought a striker of Holm's calibre, and Holm has never fought an MMA fighter of Pennington's calibre. That's basically it. I don't expect a finish, but I can see it happening. I just don't think pure knockouts are too common in the women's divisions (or the lighter men's divisions for that matter); most stoppages is one fighter hurting the other one then pouring it on with volyme for the TKO finish.

And despite her boxing credentials most of Holly Holm's stoppages has come due to kicks. She really has a knack for kickboxing I must say. She's good with distanse too. And she wasn't a KO artist in boxing either.

The UFC (and to some extent Rousey) has a problem. They have what appears to be the single best female fighter (maybe even athlete) ever and NO ONE else who is even close. Not sure how long Ronda is going to be a huge draw when EVERYONE just assumes she's going to smoke everyone who steps in the octagon with her. Outside of having her fight men in some sideshow or getting that steroided up freak Cyborg to come to the UFC and cut weight, there isn't any legit challengers left for Rousey.

I think Cat will get her rematch with one win. There are not allot of options left for Ronda other than Cyborg. And if that fight doesn't happen I see Ronda vs Holm being made and Cat vs XXX and than a Cat vs Ronda rematch.

Pennington looked a weight class smaller than Holm and I thought see did well considering the size difference and the fact that Holm was a champion in boxing. I think Ronda beats Holm without much effort.

Oh there are fights for Ronda but none other than Cyborg will carry a PPV. So if she wants to really get paid that fight will have to happen.

'Rousing' performance

Well, we already knew the Rousey girl was great but now maybe she's also invincible. If only they could find another female fighter like her for a real superfight.

I personally don't think the Cyborg fight will ever happen - not at 135 anyway, and that seems to be the only place Rousey/the UFC is interested in seeing it happen.

But let's put that aside and assume for a second that it actually did happen. Would it really sell that many more PPV buys than any other Rousey match?

Hardcore fans of the sport know who Cyborg is. But the casual fans and the general public, the ones whose attention you need to attract to really move the needle? Chances are they've never heard of her.

The UFC can sell this fight as Cyborg is a beast, Cyborg is the most legit challenge to Rousey's title ever, blah blah blah, but those are the exact same things they said to sell the Zingano fight, and the McMann fight before it. Joe Public has heard this line before, and I suspect he won't get much more excited for a fight with Cyborg than he did about the Zingano/McMann matches.

IMO the biggest money fight in women's MMA right now is probably Rousey-Tate III... and I don't think for a second the fact that Rousey won the first two would stop the UFC from making that fight.

Ronda is the draw, and she's the only women that can somewhat carry a PPV. And she's already getting PPV cuts. I doubt Cyborg is that much of a household name among casual fans. UFC need to add a women's Featherweight division if they want to build towards that fight. I think Holm would be a bigger draw atm.

Bethe Correia deserves the title shot, and it's the only logical option and a good stay busy fight. Holm looks like a low risk, low reward fight down the line, but she needs at least one more showcase fight imo. Cyborg can wait.

You guys are crazy. The UFC could hype the shit out of Cyborg with her undefeated record, the steroid scandal, her cutting weight, and the fact that she's a physical beast. The fact that it would be Rousey-Tate THREE, BORING. Wake me up when Misha's tapping out, AGAIN.

High risk low reward. She's virtually unknown among casuals, she's not relevant, she has zero UFC exposure, she's not unbeaten, they're not in the same weight-class and Ronda still hasn't cleaned out the division. When was the last a casual tuned in for an Invicta event? And why would the UFC risk having their only female star getting potentially wrecked for no good reason?

The only reason Ronda headlined 184 is because Weidman-Vitor got pulled. We're still a long way to go before a women's Main Even will crack 500k PPV buys. Ronda is somewhat a draw, Cyborg is not. There's a reason Gina Carano was a bigger star than Cyborg ever was. The UFC doesn't even have a women's FW division (to protect Ronda?); where would she go, win or lose? It's definitely a fight to make in the future, but I don't think it's relevant right now.
