The fact that Frank Mir is still rated in the top 15 tells you everything you need to know about the state of the heavyweight division IMO :p

Nice :)

I only bet very occasionally on MMA - usually I see something that I think will be great, and then the whole "anything can happen in MMA" narrative will go through my head and I'll talk myself out of it. Had wins on Cerrone and Zingano during UFC178 though.

If you haven't already checked the odds, Zingano is +600 for UFC 184. I'll probably skip take out that weekend and put down $10 to win $60. It's a long shot, but 'anything can happen in MMA.' haha She does have a lot of heart. At those odds, it's worth a few $'s.

I couldn't be less excited about Bigfoot v Mir. Bigfoot would have to do something spectacularly stupid to lose this one.

My sportsbooks don't have markets on Rousey-Zingano yet. I don't think I'll be betting Zingano this time around though, even at those odds. I mean... where's she going to beat Rousey? Where is she better?

People are making this out to be Rousey's toughest test yet, but they said the same things about Sara McMann and Alexis Davis too. What'd it take her to beat the both of them, 84 seconds combined or something?

I hear you, and it is hard to imagine Zingano getting the win, especially if she starts slow like she has in recent fights. As you said, Rousey comes out on fire (only 84 seconds to beat her last two opponents). I'm just saying at those odds (+600), I'll skip take out that night and probably throw away just a few $'s on Cat, rather than donate it to my expanding belt size. Hell, I'd probably put $5 on Rin Nakai at those odds. haha

OMFG where are you getting these prices from? I wouldn't take any of those bets just on principle, you're being robbed blind - especially on Alvey if you're leaning that direction.

Here's the current prices on Pinnacle for those fights:
Silva $1.36, Mir $3.41
Ferreira $1.30, Alvey $3.89
Barboza $1.60, Johnson $2.49

Notice how both the faves AND the underdogs are paying more.

Now Pinnacle is generally considered the lowest-vig book available, not everyone will give you as good a price as that. But those ones you've quoted are just plain awful...

$10 on a two-leg multi on those fighters? Would've paid about $62 on Pinnacle at the prices above if my math is correct.

If it's free money then go for your life. But put it this way: most places pay about $1.91 on an "even money" proposition (like either side of an NBA line). Paying $1.95 on Michael Johnson suggests that Barboza should be paying something closer to the $1.85 mark, not $1.50.

Some places will shave the price on one side of a bet (often the underdog) but wherever this is has taken money out of BOTH sides, it's staggering...

I lost on Barboza, and a small last-minute bet I made on Silva when his price climbed up to $1.60. Oops.

Terrible night for the brazilian fighters. But the event was awesome. I really liked ponzinibbio fight and also barboza. And I'm disapointed about Big Foot fight. I was expecting that he was going to KO Mir. The were some minor problems but it was really coll. But they should review the food and drink prices.

They always say that about every fight. UFC likes to promote their fights, what's new. I think Cat might be Rousey's toughest challenge to date, but she's also a notoriously slow starter, and Rousey tend to finish her fights in a hurry.

Rousey has opened as a $1.11 favourite at my sportsbook - that's an even lower price than she was against Sara McMann IIRC.

Sounds about right :p

I guess bigfoot is done.

"Should" be done, maybe. But this is the UFC heavyweight division we're talking about. It's paper-thin and in desperate need of fighters with name recognition. So he'll totally get more fights, regardless of the fact that it's a patently bad idea...

I think the TRT ban, along with guys breaking there hands on his face, have made Bigfoot decline pretty quickly. He had a legitimate reason for taking TRT (acromegaly), and it helped him in and out of the octagon. Acromegaly is a potentially life-threatening disease. Life expectancy in patients is even shortened on the average by 10-15 years, and I believe he recently had to have a tumor removed from his pituitary gland. I hope the guy retires, takes care of himself (TRT or whatever does the trick), coaches, and lives a long life.
