The main event may be fight of the year, definitely in contention for knockout of the year.

The Korean Zombie and Yair Rodriguez went toe to toe for 5 brutal rounds.Rodriguez was behind on the judge's scorecards but scored an odd angle elbow KO with 1 second left....knocked the zombie out cold

Great fight!

Nice job on the picks, too bad about "The violent Bob Ross" (lol- possibly the best name) I liked him and I liked him on TUF but yeah that shaking the head's gotta go....was surprised it was a split decision.

Cowboy says he's back....love him as well.

I lost my parlay due to Pena as well .... Bummer ....

Hope we can hook up later this week (Fri.?) with some thoughts/ predictions on the fights. I'm planning on placing a bunch of small bets in hopes of a a big parlay coming through for me, lol.

That would be fun....I was telling my Dad who is 73 that when I was a kid I remembered watching wrestling with his Dad, my grandpa in the 70's. My wife works Sunday's so I DVR any fights and spend my Sunday mornings watching MMA :)

Just found out my buddy Amdrew "The pain train" Swofford is back after a long layoff. His pro debut 2 years ago went bad quick and he submitted to an arm bar

Here is the amateur fight where he won the local championship

Obviously Yair and KZ was a great fight...that aside, I was so impressed with KZ's post-fight message.

"To everyone who has helped me, I’m truly sorry… thank you… to everyone who hates me, congratulations. I am not in a good enough condition to get on a plane so I will spend a few days in the hospital before going back to Korea. I am embarrassed, but I will see you when I get home"

To outsiders it may seem like somebody tucking their tail and acknowledging defeat. To anyone that has given an unreplaceable piece of themselves to an unforgiving sport/sport fans putting it all on the line its straight up bad ass. Mad respect for the transparency in a sport full of egos. Casual fan before, fan for life now.

Thank you for posting it. Don't think I would have found out otherwise. Got watery eyes when I read it, to be honest.

BTW, he lost the fight in the final 2-3 seconds. Judges had it 3-1, 3-1 and 2-2 going into the 5th round.

Yup, its a tough pill to swallow to train your ass off for something and put your all in it and come up short. Its a feeling that can't be described unless experienced. All the best to him in his future bouts.

So I won a $5 "Free Bet" on partypoker through their Christmas Advent promotion. With only three days to use it, and a UFC event coming up, I thought I'd bet on that. I've never bet on PP before. Add in the fact that it's a "Free Bet" and it's even more confusing. When I consider that Megan Anderson is a dog against Cat Zingano, I give up trying to understand any of this.
This is a simple "final result" bet. The posted odds are called "Two Way", and the numbers over the names are 1.60 for Zingano (on the left), and 2.25 for Anderson. So that means, if the odds were to stay this way and be used on the UFC broadcast on Dec 29, the number under Zingano's name during intro's would be -1.60, and the number under Anderson's name would be +2.25? Can anyone confirm this line of thought?

I realize this is a bit of a stupid question, but after clicking on everything five times to do "run throughs", I'm still not certain that I've done this right. I think I've got $5 of "Free Bet" on Anderson to win. It will pay $6.25 because the stake isn't included in the payout, because it's a "Free Bet".

General questions are: why on earth is Anderson a dog here? and, what happens if the line changes over the next five days?

Hey
Simply google "convert decimal to american odds". Majority of countries are using decimal odds, basically, it means you multiply your stake with the odds and thats ur winnings.

The higher the number, the less likely is the outcome gonna happen.
Two way means there are only two possibilities, cat wins or the other one wins. And yes there are great odds on partypoker.

I've won all of the 'free bets' so far... but one & lost it on Women's ski racing while getting 8:1 odds (she placed 2nd by 5/100th's of a second :( ) & have one more that is also in Women's ski racing.
Even bet on the Leafs twice & won, lol.

Yeah those are decimal odds, AKA the best odds format, because the American +/- system is teh stoopids... but I digress :p

In American format, those odds would be:

Zingano: -166
Anderson: +125

That's a vig of almost 7% BTW, which is a bit high. I'm seeing $1.67 / $2.20 at one of my books right now, which is closer to a "normal" 5% vig.

You're right, with a free bet they don't give you the $5 stake back, so your payout on Anderson would be $6.25 if she wins (it would be $11.25 if you were betting with a real five bucks).

If the odds move before the fight it doesn't matter, your bet stands at whatever the odds were when you made the bet.

As for why Anderson is a dog against Zingano IDK as I haven't followed either closely in recent years. But unless Anderson has suddenly developed a ground game, I suspect the market thinks the most likely outcome is that the fight ends up on the ground at some point and that Zingano is going to school her there...

UFC 232 tomorrow, anyone want to share some predictions about the main card?

Jones - Gustafsson : Jones by TKO

Cyborg - Nunes : Cyborg by unanimous decision

Condit - Chiesa : Condit by unanimous decision

Latifi - Anderson : No idea on this one, not even going to guess

Mendes - Volkanovski : Mendes by TKO

Thanks to those that explained simple odds calculations to me. I think I'm starting to understand. :stupido2:

I was going to say that a giant Aussie Amazon with great striking should destroy an aging Zingano moving up in weight. But that was because somewhere, embedded deep in my misunderstanding of Zingano, she was a Muai Thai fighter with decent ground ability - OOPS! I used to confuse her with Gina Carano (I just corrected Carano to Zingano in each instance that I wrote it in this post!) so maybe that's why. The line is closer than it appeared when I didn't understand the odds, and Zingano will destroy Anderson on the ground if she can get it there (and Anderson hasn't spent the last six months working exclusively on improving her Jiu Jitsu). But remember what Anderson did to Holm in the first few exchanges of their fight - she is completely capable of ending this while Zingano is trying to make it a grappling and ground experience.

I want Guftafsson to win so bad! Hopefully this time he can finish him and not leave it in the hands of the judges.
