You get two simultaneous activations (installations) per code. And you can transfer a code to another PC. Can't recall right off hand how PT handles it,

We have never fully disclosed how we check you registration, we need to keep some things secret to discourage cracking of our software, but conceptually though its quite simple. We trust our users to use our software on up to two computers that they own at the same time. If your caught frequently using more than 2 installations with your registration code then we will contact you to talk about the issue, and we reserve the right to disable your license until the issue is rectified. We are very understanding, and are quite willing to give you as much freedom as you need to use your licenses in an honest manner.

Notice I said use not install or activations... this is a much more liberal policy that our competitors - plus we only make you register once per instalation + you can use your registration code on both Windows and OSX which will be out soon for PT4, we just have a few more bugs to fix!

^^^ One thing I give you props for over your competitor. Their activation engine can be quite frustrating, I used to gripe at Roy about it constantly but eventually gave up. Another case of putting honest users through a lot of inconvenience because of the sins of a few that won't be dissuaded anyway. I'm a software developer who tends to frown on draconian DRM measures, mainly because in my younger days I was a software cracker myself.

IMPORTANT:

PokerTracker 4 was upgraded to 4.05.8 late last night, but we removed this download due to some unexpected issues that were discovered.

1) The HERO's HUD in HUSNG games would not display

2) The database update would not perform for .IT and .ES users (these are the only two countries we can confirm so far, we dont know yet if this affected others)

3) You cannot edit tournaments.

A patch will be released shortly to fix these two issues, in the meantime we have removed the 4.05.8 update.

IMPORTANT: If you already upgraded to 4.05.8 then do not revert to 4.05.7 or any other prior version!!!! Please be patient as we work to put out the new release ASAP. We hope to have a solution for you within the day.

If you do not reside in Italy or Spain, and you don't play HUSNGs, then you can continue to use 4.05.8 without any concerns for the integrity of your data or in-game workflow.

Not sure if it's my laptop although theres no real reason it wouldn't be fast enough to have PT4 working but; when compared to "loading" graphs for example; it seems to take forever compared to PT3 (by forever, I'm talking 1minute sometimes of "loading")and quite often when I try filter stuff; I've got to refresh the graph tab to even get it working because it comes up with an error in red, "query does not have a result set" it works after like several attempts of refreshing/loading the page but really annoying it does eventually display but it becomes a pain constantly having t refresh just to get rid of that error, why is that?

The speed of PT3 was a ton better; but obviously the features etc in PT4 are better; just kinda frustrating.

PokerTracker 4 has more powerful computing requirements. The data querys performed by PostgreSQL are far complex and requires more computational power and hard drive speed. I cannot comment on your query error without seeing the PokerTracker 4 logs on your computer, send them to us for evaluation please. Please follow these instructions for submitting a Support Ticket. Are you sure you are using the latest version of PT4 BETA?

Computer Hardware

Minimum Requirement: Intel Core 2 Duo (or AMD equivalent) processor with 3GB of RAM

Recommended: Modern quad-core processor with 4GB of RAM or greater. This includes the Intel Core 2 Quad and Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 processor lines (or their equivalent AMD processors).

Optimal: Intel Core i5 or i7 multi-core 64-bit processor with 8GB of RAM or greater.

Not Recommended: Intel Pentium 4, Atom or other low power processors such as ARM.

Operating System

Minimum Requirement: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Recommended: Windows 8, Windows 7 or Windows Vista

Optimal: Windows 8 64 Bit or Windows 7 64 Bit with PostgreSQL 64 Bit 9.0.x manually installed.

PostgreSQL

Minimum Requirement: PostgreSQL 8.3.18 or greater / PostgreSQL 8.4.12 or greater / PostgreSQL 9.0.7 or greater

Recommended: Manually install the latest version of PostgreSQL 9.0.x

Optimal: Manually install the Winx86-64 version of PostgreSQL 9.0.x. This requires a 64 bit processor and Operating System, with 8 Gigs or ram or better for optimal performance.

Not Supported: PostgreSQL 9.1.x and 9.2.x are not supported due to potential database errors

Hard Drive

The number one factor for speed performance is hard drive speed, the PostgreSQL Server which powers the PokerTracker database commonly moves gigabytes of data to allow PokerTracker 4 to perform it's reporting duties. PokerTracker recommends at least a 7200RPM hard drive or faster, Solid State Drives (SSDs) are currently the fastest drives available for optimal performance.

Question for you:

Is it possible to backup your database, purge your hands so you have completely fresh data, and then after playing more hands- combine the new data with the previously backed up database?

Hope that question made sense. Basically can you merge two saved databases into one?

I'd like to get completely fresh info for the next month or two, but would like to be able to get my "career stats" down the road.

Hope that made some sense! Thanks.

I think you're better off just setting filters to ignore the old data until you're ready to incorporate it. Much more flexible and less tedious than attempting to merge databases. To my knowledge there is no built-in way to do what you're asking, but you could approximate it by doing the following:

1. Create a brand new DB to use for new hands.
2. Accumulate however many hands you want with the new DB.
3. Make sure all those new HH's were archived, or export all HH's from the new DB.
4. Switch back to the old DB and import the newer HH's.

Thanks, that actually seems like an easy way to go about this, although I may just use the filters as you suggested. Appreciate the quick response!

I've submitted a ticket to PT support, but thought I'd check here to make sure I wasn't just screwing up a filter.

Got 4 of a kind today in a tourney with QQ as my hole cards (yippee, me!). Went searching in PT4 to find the hand (wanted a screenie of the hand replayer to post for the scavenger hunt).

I searched on Tournaments (T), Results tab, Overview report, date =Today, All Tournament Types and the following filter:
Player is hero AND Hands:QQ AND Made four of a kind on any street.

The result set that I got showed every tournament I played today (pretty sure there was only one quad for me today). I actually clicked on each tournament that was in the result set and there were no hands listed for any of them.

Am I doing something wrong?

try doing it by date. Double click on December. Open the tourney with todays date.

Now page down the money won/lost, and only pay attention to the green ones. Open the one that says QQ.

...also, make sure you're searching the right screen name, at the right skin.

Did that already

I get a list of tourneys and not a list of hands. Maybe I'm using the wrong report or something. When I click on the tourneys, where I expect to see a list of hands, no hands display (like none match the filter).

Did that already also. But thanks for the suggestions, they are definitely good things to always check....

When I click on the tourneys, where I expect to see a list of hands, no hands display (like none match the filter).

First, turn all filters off...

If you're double clicking on a tourney and a new window opens with no hands in it, then you need to do some housekeeping.

First make sure the client is listed in it's correct location. For instance... If it's Juicy. Then you would double click on Evolution Gaming and make sure the string to the the Juicy database is there. If not, Then add the string.

For some reason, those hands aren't yet logged and imported. You could try Vacuum and analyze. And reindex. Both under Housekeeping. Then rebuild your cache.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I'll try (I was going to do some housekeeping tomorrow morning anyway. Just didn't plan on it being with PT4!:D)

Am I doing something wrong?

Move to the Results > Final Hands at Showdown Report
Make sure all filters are removed by pressing clear filters in the left hand frame.
Click More Filters > Hand Values > Hole Card Range Selection > Holdem Hand Range. select QQ and the click Add to Filter / Save & Apply Filters
The top of the report shows all final hands at showdown, filtered to only show QQ. The bottom of the report will list all the hands for each option of the report above. If you want to further filter by date then use the Date Simple Filter in the left hand frame, the two filters can compliment one another.

PS: JusSumguy's advice was accidentally a little overzealous, you probably do not need to perform database maintenance, and there is no evidence that your hand was not imported yet. The only thing wrong was that you were looking in a report which could be confusing accidentally... the overview report is not the best place to perform this filter.

That did the trick. I wasn't using the correct tab/report to do what I wanted to do!

Thank you.

Hi,
I downloaded the trial a few months ago and am considering purchasing the full version soon.
What happens to all the info stored on the trial version? Do I have to uninstall it and restart the whole process of importing hands with the new version?

thanks

You do not need to reinstall, your data will be unaffected, you just enter in a new registration code and PokerTracker 4 will automate the change for you.

Yeah, I'll be getting a new Retina MBP here in a week or so, so I'm interested too. I normally play from my Windows desktop but occasionally have to play when mobile. The MBP will replace my Windows laptop and although I'll be Boot Camping when absolutely necessary, I'd rather not have to just to play.

If you're looking for beta testers... ;)
