Recap Notes
Match #1 lived up to all the hype and the two foes felt each other out as they jostled for every slight edge and advantage.
Kassouf seemed to play a little tight, while Matuson picked up as many orphaned pots as possible. By the time Will opened up his game it was too late and Stacy had built up a substantial lead.
In the end, Kassouf’s Kd2s ran into Matuson’s Jh8h and fell short after Stacy ran off Jack-Jack on the turn and river to make a full house.
Round 1 went to “StacyAcey”.
By the time, Match #2 started, Kassouf had picked up the pace and was ready to take on anything and anyone, it seemed.
However, the cards were not kind to Kassouf and he couldn’t catch a break seeing his stack dwindling away.
It was only a matter of time before all the chips were going to have to go into the pot.
At one point in match, Stacy was able to reverse Will’s confident table talk by raising his raise with nothing more than ace-high.
The final hand saw Will raise out of the SB with Ah7c. Unluckily for him, Stacy woke up with a hand – pocket Jacks.
She re-popped it to 1,125 leaving Will with a 675 call and less than 5K behind.
After a lot of reflection and saying that he “felt he had the best hand”, Kassouf pushed over the top.
Stacy insta-called and the board ran out, 6h-2s-3s-5h-5s – no help for Will and Matuson took Round 2 and the best of 3!
All things considered, Stacy was in control from the start and never allowed Will to get inside her head.
Perhaps it was the fact that the level of pressure wasn’t there or that she simply wasn’t going to let herself be intimidated.
Either way it was a game well-played and well-fought and the best player – on the day – won.
