I have taken part in real money play on all three of these free sites. I was led to believe by these companies that it was completely legit and legal. They were accepting deposits from US players, knowing that it was an illegal activity that they were engaging in. In this case I think that any deposits that were accepted by US players should be refunded in full.

You are probably the only person on the site who hasn't heard of UIGEA

It is in Full Tilt (and Stars) best interest at the moment to freeze all US players playing for real money. The problem you get into is a slippery slope in the software - I'm not sure if you can allow people to play for real money, yet prohibit transfers and withdrawls.

However, why would you even want to play for real money and let them proft from you through rake and fees if there is a possibility you will have to wait for two years to get your money out of it, if ever. You might as well play for play chips on Facebook.

Even though it doesn't really matter anymore - I finally managed to get in and un-register from my WSOP satellite. Yay... saved my T$.

I'm done with on-line poker until this mess blows over. It will only be a matter of time before the DOJ goes after Cake, Carbon, Link, and other sites that have U.S. Players with real money. I wouldn't keep more $ than you can afford to lose on any sites right now.

Now out all the post I've read here this is the most reasonable one. I agree totally!

Why are we as US citizens so eager to find another site to play on that allows US players or try to find another way to play on PS and FT after what just happened. Can we not just wait this thing out and see what happens? Are we that addicted to online poker til we can't go a day, week, or a month with-out it?

The bottom-line is the US is wanting control over Online poker, right now they don't have it. They want a piece of the pie and can't get it. It's all about money. US has no way to make money off of these sites. That's why they want the sites to tax us so they can make money, the sites said no and this is how the US counter acted to that answer.

So I say lets just wait this thing out, I'm sure these sites will give the US what they want. I don't think PS and FT want to loose US players and the US doesn't want these sites to say the heck with US players because it's too much money to be made here! Just my opinion yall!

If you Americans were still part of the British Empire you would be OK. If you ask nicely, we might let you back in...

It now has made yahoo's list of most veiwed stories.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110416/ap_on_sp_ot/us_poker_prosecution

And I love this quote,

"Authorities said Absolute Poker responded by saying in a release after the new law was enacted that it would continue its U.S. operations because "the U.S. Congress has no control over" the company's payment transactions."

Too bad the others don't have the balls to do the same.

Haha...get real.

I don't know.. maybe its time you all gave up this nonsense.

We'd expect you to all hand in your guns. Lets face it what's the point in having guns if you cant even stop your own government from outlawing a hobby?

We might even let the Aussies back in too.. but you have to watch them.. they are all descended from crooks.

It is still about online poker - without circumventing the law, US players wouldn't have been able to deposit or withdraw, so good luck playing for money. It suggests that online poker is something which people shouldn't be allowed to deposit for, and therefore shouldn't be allowed to play.
Nope. It suggests nothing of the sort.

If I fly over to the Isle of Man, walk into PS's or FTP's accounting dept., give them some cash, fly back here and log on to play, I'm still technically NOT breaking US law. No matter how you shake it, it's about HOW accounts get financed and these guys tried to put one over on the US Government. To start, try googling the SunFirst Bank in Utah. Read about how they bribed the execs into processing for them. When the Feds found out about that, they felt they just had to act.

This part is my opinion: If legit (and prob. expensive) processing methods were used, the Feds most likely would have let it go long enough for things to get legalized.

Since the passage and enactment of the UIGEA there is no such thing as a legit way of getting your $$ to sites from the US. It doesn't exist at any cost.
