party poker did make a substantial payment several years back to avoid possible legal action in the US and withdrew all operations from the country. As I understand it, they are in a prime position to return because they now comply with all the relevant rules.
I imagine they foresaw that pokerstars and Full Tilt would fall foul of US law eventually, clearing the way for Party to get back in the market.

And IIRC Harrah's entered into a partnership with with Party, or their CEO, a year or two ago to develop their "interactive gaming" initiative. Many saw this as part of a master plan to make a huge jump into US gaming the instant it finally became legal and regulated, before Stars and FT could recover and enter the market (which may be highly unlikely now).

Interesting. I just requested an eCheck withdrawal from Stars, totally on a whim just to see the pop-up everyone reported about withdrawals being disabled. It seemed to go through!? I got the usual confirmation prompts and the email saying the cashout is pending.

Cashed out all bankrolls from Stars and FTP...

Wynn have pulled out of partnership with Pokerstars, and Fertitta's with FTP was based on FTP getting a license so that's "expired" - not looking good for either as my thoughts on PS's re-entry into the US market were based around Wynn rebranding the site and it's software
