Current BRM Strategy

My best game is micro stakes 3 person SNG's. I usually start all sessions with these games to warm-up and to accumulate winnings. I then use what I have won for 9 - 45 SNG's, regular or turbo.

After reading this, I will take some time off the 180 - 360 SNG's. The allure of the big payday is tempting, but losing is losing. I'm going to stick to Freeroll and Satellite Tournaments on the weekends, and put my money into games I win regularly to accumulate my bankroll.

Damn, I love poker but my earnings are too small to play as a high roller. I usually deposit like 20 or 30 USD to pokerstars but i just cant do it, as soon as i hit 100 USD i start to feel like a poker GOD and start playing as a high roller, and ofcourse i will lose everything...

Great advice that I can really take to heart. I especially like your point about sticking to one game. I fell into this trap early on. My game is full ring but I wanted to play 6-max because it was supposed to be the coming thing. Lost most of what I had built before I caught myself. The game is to aggressive for my conservative/patient style of play. I'm not a NIT but going all in from CO position with baby pairs or J10o and similar plays was just a mental adjustment I couldn't make.

Good advice, I agree that you need to play in one game. I remember the day when I was a small bankroll and began playing cash and MTT, and casino games. It was stupid. Now only I play MTT and freerolls. Sometimes I play spin & go. My current bankroll is small, playing on the micro stakes. Not to say that I am an experienced player, but I made of 0.11 cents - $ 100. Yes, I was lucky. Just believe in yourself and succeed.

Great post. I really liked it, even if was written a long ago. Still apply for every level.I like how you tell everyone what not to do and i think that most than one has been ther (me for example). I played some bonuses and made a decent bankroll (twice) but the lack of responsability, and not tacking care, and thinking that i was ready for the next level, took all that money away (twice). He would probably been the same if i had read somethings like this. But definately i would have think better and played the level i was confortable with.
Anyway you have read all kind of things like this but i appreciate than you wrote such a good post.

Sorry for my English

I won a tournament recently, where I beat a lot of people to take down $10 but ended up losing it playing high stakes to get back my losses, which keeps happening. I'm a serial under-20-bbs player so how to avoid doing that? Hope this is relevant!

definitely not an easy task

patience and persistence must be there for the first prize. I been trying to do this and never get to the bubble. reason been, lack of patience and gambling too much. so far learning with my repetitive mistakes... I guess...

Nothing free is easy

I have started from nothing many times. Sometimes 20 free rolls to earn a dollar. Free rolls are downright nasty. Donks and river rats and all-inners are everywhere in freerolls looking for a quick easy buck. learning how to avoid these people and learning to pick your moments takes patience. You have to have patience or you will probably give up.

My advice is just to play the one you're best at. If that's Zoom, then play Zoom.

Good Post! Thank you. Poker is like life, dream big but play within your means. Take an occasional risk but not one that you can't afford...

I just won $0.83 on a freeroll. I know, is not a big deal, but for me it is lol
Looking forward to more practice and learning in this site.

Keep playing them, you will eventually cash big time on them and be able to carefully start playing some MTTs with small buyins ;)

Well said OZ

Well said Oz. I'm nursing a little bankroll myself and feel the same way you do about which games to play to increase comfort level and odds. I found that 6 seat sit and go's work real well. The only hard part for is being able to walk away and take pause for a few hours to avoid fatigue when I'm playing a lot of sit and go's. Your advise is sound and much appreciated!

Really enjoyed the write up. I think a lot of people are trying to do the same thing you've done and the story gives hope that you can get a bankroll from nothing.
