One thing you should know. Poker is a fun game but it should never be a source of income. So don't think you are smart and save your money before you regret it.
Well said, Poker is not a game you can get rich quick from, it takes a long time to get to be a good player, good enough to be able to break even, or just make a small profit, Anyone who thinks they can pull off a World title and win millions of Dollars are just living in a dream World.
I have read many books by Professional players, and one piece of advice that they all give you is "Respect your Bankroll", Don't be tempted to move up in stakes just because you cash in one big tournament, because it might be a long time before you cash in another.
Playing Poker is like running a Marathon, and you need to pace yourself, always keeping something in reserve, and practice, practice, practice. The wins will come eventually, but it can be a long, hard slog.
A lot of Professional players do all sorts of other things, besides playing Poker, they may have gone into other businesses, with Friends to gain an income, and some even write blogs, or stream live games to supplement their life style, I know of one professional that buys Property at Auctions and then either Flips them to make a profit or rent them out.
Either way, Poker is not a sole income for many professional players, So before you give up your day job to become a professional player, Think! and be sure you have something to fall back on.
When the fun Stops, STOP!
