well, it depends on what CO's range is for that small 4bet, which itself depends on the history between them. i wouldn't say calling the small 4bet IP is automatically spew, but i'd need to know he had a range that included a lot of non-overpairs, and also feel like i had a decent read on him postflop. it's implied that you're going to have to make a decent amount of moves postflop and be correct most of the time to make it profitable, but i'd say it can still be profitable. that being said, even if all of that were the case, i'd probably rather 5bet it

it's probably spewy the majority of the time, but like most things in poker, it depends

Wtf is your logic with 56s???

So you're barely getting odds. Basically no likey at all preflop.

So yeah, preflop is just plain spew imo but postflop's fine.

At least his 56 was suited! (yea - I am gonna rag you about that for quite sometime lol)

I am really starting to wonder if I'm ever going to quit this horrible break even streak. It's rather disheartening!

Try a -10bb/100 streak of 10K hands or so. I've been breaking even playing stud for the past month, but with rakeback & clearing bonus, its still profitable. Breaking even is nothing to scoff at.

Pretty sure you want the 3-bet PF, not Total. Total would include 3-bet % for all streets, and wouldn't be all that useful imo.

In PT3 or HEM, you can get the average 3-bet% for all players in your DB to give some sort of starting point as to how to interpret it. In PT3, just add the stat to the report on the Summary Tab, the average will be shown at the bottom. In HEM, I'm pretty sure it's in the Default Report on the Players Tab, if not, there's a 3/4 Bet Report, again with the average at the bottom.

Generally like 4-6% is pretty average. Most good solid aggressive players will be around 8%.

Wtf is your logic flatting a 4-bet with 56s??? You're calling 28 to win 20+235 = 245. So even going on implied odds you've got 8.75:1 and when you're gonna stack off here with flush draw against possible overpair (even QJ probably calls here in 4-bet pot with 2 flush draws).
So yeah, preflop is just plain spew imo but postflop's fine.

Well Zach, this is not a play I make a lot (thank f**k for that i hear you cry). I was tempted to push here, but I obv get called by a fair bit of his range at that point including AK. If he makes a normal size 4bet I insta fold, but the min'ish 4bet got me suspicious. I called in the hope of getting it in on a non a,k flop. Don't ask me why I didn't get it in on the flop, as that was my plan if its a non A,K flop. BTW he had a 4bet of 9% over a decent sample. Anyways, he had f**k all and I got my wish on the turn with a fold. Dont try this at home kids :p.

Well you really can't complain if you're minraising your aces. This should be a raise to $2 or $2.50, not .75.

By the way both Curtis and I are putting in (assuming he doesn't go bananas again .. hmmm...) an all night poker marathon tonight. You know where I'll be grinding, and I'll be sure to be on AIM for group theapy/group braggings.

It'd be good to see a few friendly faces join us ... I think I am going to start around 9pm EST and go until around 7am EST. Yeowza!

Almost time to go back to the grind, don't know if im in the right mind-set for it tbh. Meh, an evening off will take 3-4 hours on Sunday to make up :(

Gonna get some food, might feel better then.

Enty, terrible bet sizing pre-flop there.

Zach, what is your interpretation if this US law thing is upheld towards the back end of next year. IE no more deposits from the USA market. What is likely to happen to the likes of Stars/SNE/online poker in general? Are we all doomed.... Should I not quit my day job anytime soon?

I'm might move to canada ;)

I'm 21 soon but that doesn't even matter since I'm 3 hours away from Atlantic City. But I did find a nice local home game. They play 1/2 and it's called the Taj Garage lol. I don't know about going to a place where I don't know the people but I guess it's just like going to a casino.

I'm starting to get nervous about this as well. I was really hoping to give it a shot and play for a living after I got out of school, but now its starting to look like I might be getting a real job :(

afaik jay, you will be fine to continue with your sne aim. Also i read somewhere on 2+2 that any decision made in the last half year of bush's time (now) can be overturned by a simple majority decision from obama's crew at the time of changeover. But tbh, he will have a lot bigger things to deal with to start with instead of online poker
