Over him? Really?

Are you really going to say that?? I mean, say what you will about Belgo's occasional snide comment, but the man has definitely been a big help to my game along the way.

I'll say it like this. I don't mind when one solid reg leaves (eg: chris tc, fetir) over the course of time because I expect it. People come and go, to expect everyone to stay just isn't solid thinking because it won't happen. However, if things stand the way they do now, CC lost a bunch of really solid members today and that's what sucks. And belgo was without a doubt a solid member. It's not whatever this story is, its just a shitty situation.

wow, I don't post much anymore, tend to read more than post, but this thing is one Hell of a shocker. I'm not sure what went on, but I guess we''ll never find out all the facts about why Zach was banned.
But I'm saddened to see him go, and equally saddened about the other's leaving in support of Zach. CardsChat will continue, but we've lost some excellent posters/poker players to whichever forum they go to.
It's a real sad day.

For those of us a little more out on the fringes, who are not loyalers and don't know people personally - the quality of posts in ring game HA and strategy will definitely suffer from the absence of these guys (I'm sure you and the mods already realize this). The list of guys who you want to read just because they posted, or who you really want to have comment on your 25NL+ HA's because you know they'll get your head straight, is not huge, maybe 20 guys. Quite a few of those "must read" guys have indicated they're leaving over whatever happened. Many of these guys have been extremely active over the last few months as well, meaning that there has been something worth reading every day.

Of course, there are several "must read" guys who have not said anything, and I hope these "gg" posts stop soon. However, I'm hoping there is something you can do to put some context around what's going on to reassure people that this wasn't some unreasonable action as some of the posts have implied.
Very well said.

If CC loses the amount of quality posters as has been threatened, then it's a long road back imo. CC is basically a FRW site, and the chances of replacing so much knowledge will take years imo. Lets face it, it takes a long time to gain so much knowledge to be a winner at 200 and 400nl. That will not be replaced overnight if at all. A very sad day!

Nick, this is a great site and you and the mods obviously do a great job. This site has turned me into a competent player (beating micro, breaking even at small stakes), and I do not intend to leave. I'm actually a stox member - but I spend 10x as much time here as I do at stox.

I'm being purely selfish here - while I try to give back to the community by commenting in HA where I feel I have something to contribute, I come back here over and over again because of the players who understand theory and practice so much better than I do.

But I do think you run a great site here and hope you recognize that people wouldn't be upset if they didn't think it was a great site.

pretty sure your one of the few guys i respect thats not playing 100nl+ so its nice to see your staying. Hopefully my retarded HA comments will still help you as yours will help me.

I really feel like aside from a few it will be left to the main contributors of the micro grinder threads to lead this site into the next step based on what i've seen in membership leaving.

This is so hyperbolic it almost seems like a level, though I know it's not.

The part about CC being "basically a FRW site" is kinda insulting. What if I said this thread was generally filled with RBPs? :p

I generally do NOT play in the CC frerolls, but it seems to me, especially with the new system, to be made up of a tight group of decent players (often excellent) most of whom are regular contributing members or mods.

Of course losing members as knowledgeable as the main person involved here is a terrible shame but poker knowledge is not limited to a few people.

In fact I can think of many folks who opinions on HA and poker strategy are very valuable who I am sure will be staying on.

And frankly, I will restate... I believe those leaving are acting childishly, and some of them are the sort who get more pleasure out of making fun of new or lesser players than even playing the game.

Someone broke a rule. And in the aftermath of the consequences we see who the men and women are, and who are the children.

Viva le CC.

With due respect Caps, what players coming through on CC can give informed advice on 200nl+ that will be left after all this has blown over?

Everyone think's getting up to 200nl+ is kind of a natural course for most players, believe me it's not. It takes time and effort. I don't see how that will get replaced in the short term imo.

Your comments in HA are always accurate and helpful! And I agree that the micro grinders are a good pool of contributors.

There are several excellent analysts/strategists who haven't said anything yet (and I hope continue to not say anything :D ), though I agree with Jagsti that it'll take a lot of time to replenish the knowledge base. In addition to being very knowledgable, many of these guys were very generous with their time and contributions, and I think we should be thankful for that.

P.S. I did cheat - my last 60K hands are actually at 100NL  - I was beating 50NL at 4.4BB/100 and took a shot. Haven't advertised it, I'm only a little better than breakeven over that stretch, so I'm not sure I won't move down to 50NL again...

I go for a few days and all hell breaks loose lol.

Imo, internet forums are like the circle of life, people fall away and stop posting, new people join and start posting, it sucks that so many knowledgeable people have left at the same time but if you think about it....

I might have had a question in the past about say equity, i come on here, ask and get a very good answer from someone like belgo or zach etc, what will have to happen now is that i come on here, have a question about equity, and we all have a big ol discussion about it and, imo, come away with more of the facts stuck in our heads through discussing it instead of just getting the answer on a plate.

Yes the people that have left are all very knowledgeable and awesome posters but were they the only ones on here that are knowledgeable and awesome???

I havent been a huge poster on here lately b/c of a lot of life stuff going on but, and i'm not trying to say i'm the saviour of cc and its all going to be ok b/c i'm still gonna be here, i'm not going anywhere and i'm sure that a lot of the guys who hang around the micro grinders threads won't be going anywhere either, which means that the pool of posters at cc is still full of accomplished players and up and coming players as well.

Yeah a lot of knowledge has left the pool here but it just means the remainder have to try harder when learning imo.

Sorry, that dragged on for a bit there lol

So are you suggesting that players who are very knowledgable in game theory and beat 200nl+ should be able to violate the rules of the forum and basically do what they want, so we don't lose their valuable input?

Other people WILL come in and fill the void. And even if it does take years, then that's what it takes.

We don't know whether they have violated the rules though.

Mods say: Trust us they did something real REAL bad
Regs say: Trust us its out of order it was practically nothing. bye bye all.

Nice post.

The thing is something must have happened to make it ban worthy equally for people to walk away from a forum they use day in and day out.............

Anyway back to poker for me today after a bit of a break, going to play sngs for a bit untill I think I have some skills up for cash games.

How is poker treating everyone?

Not to be rude, but I don't think any questions like this are going to be answered in this thread for a bit.

Its not like any answers are forthcoming anyway Shrog, so what do we do? All I know is CC has suffered a big loss and we can either sit here getting bothered or use this thread as it is intended.

Just my thoughts not a dig at anyone.

Jake, you'll be the next to be banned if you don't quit short stacking.

That's what this whole mess with Zach is about. He was secretly short-stacking and that shit just can't be tolerated here! ;)

I looked in that thread once saw alot off numbers and ran for the hills.

I make small profits at sngs and profits are what let me play so I am hoping to start learning more because I tried cash games and I either won a small amount for 3 or 4 days then lost a stack because I felt I was too tight.

Got Moshmans book here going to try and really understand the concepts of poker now.
