What would you say my issue is - I always tend to start overplaying near the bubble and have at times gone from chipleader (40+BB) to busting within 10 people of the cash. What's the mental weakness there and why?

My guess here is that you're widening your range in order to "play aggressively" and "exploit the bubble."

While it's true there is a lot of money to be made when other people tighten up their stacks near the bubble, we also have to recognize that the hands people do play are better. If we can't steal the blinds, then our opponent might have a hand more often than not.

Another guess is that you could be playing from out of position more often. Position is important because it gives you information. If you don't have good information, you're going to make worse calls.

I think your strategy seems right.Whenever you have JJ, you have to think to yourself "would I make the same bet with 10-10? What about 9-9?"

So turning it into a set mining hand with bluff potential seems like a good idea. Early on in MTTs, you always take set mining opportunities because you can stack other players when everyone has a deep stack of chips. :D You'd be surprised how many people commit on top pair top kicker.
Thank you for that. I can stop questioning myself as much when I loose.

Hi Jeff - what to do against constant three-betters? Play tighter?

Cheers

What's the best way to control yourself and not bluff with a bad card? I usually play very aggressively and lose because of it. Can't just sit and wait for a good hand:)

Having a plan in place is good! For example if you have a semi bluff and you check raise you should have a back up plan on certain cards that you do not make your hand w/ but that you can still follow thru w/. Also some cards that you shut down on, this is important to have some parameters so you don't over bluff or under bluff. You need a plan!

A very aggressive player I like to see at the tables! I get to go post flop & let them barrel off representing on boards that I cover. I think when a player is out of position they are always the most vulnerable as the case here!

Hello Jeff!!! Can you just tell me what is the best way to play Q and 10? Thanks...
QT is a solid hand from lot of positions when first in! QT suited is every prettier! this hand often plays well as a call but 3 betting it works too & folding at times is correct. You really have to look at each situation to know that! But QT is often tricky post flop as you will have a middling hand often, not so strong but good enough. We can discuss more if you send a specific hand example. Wishing you the best.

Yes being results oriented is not something should focus on! It's about the play you made at the given time.

why are there so few freezeouts nowadays ?

it seems like almost every online tourney allows multiple reentry and long late registration . many have an oversized add on as well . even some of the big online wsop bracelet events had re entries permitted this summer . i feel like poker is quickly morphing into bingo - fill out as many cards as you want and take away the skill , patience + discipline !

Yes this is a controversial topic. Re entries have gotten out of hand & now some sites are trying to limit it to one re entry per flight of major events which is a decent compromise I think.

in 2013 I was on my worst downswing ever when played the Premiere League Season VII. I ended up taking 2nd there so that was a nice swing. I had lot of action sold so wasn't too crazy but def was not a good feeling!
