You are past ITM in a PLO, sitting 20/24 and have 9BB. What are you looking for that will make you shove?

Hi, Jeff. Help me understand the concept: "Dead cards". After all, as far as I know, there is no such thing in hold'em. (Unless I specifically show my cards to the opponent). That is, I understand that the "dead cards" are the cards that were discarded. But we don't know which cards are considered dead in this hand. (Which cards were discarded by the opponents). Thanks.

Hello!

I think what you are referring to is cards that can not come. For example if watching poker on TV & we can see that players folded cards in a hand, we can know that these cards are "dead" or not able to come out on the flop. Hope this helps!

On TV is absolutely true. But there are no "dead cards" in online poker? (More precisely, the concept itself)

Being int he money is nice! I wouldn't be too selective at this point; I would like the AKJTr, 789t, AA29 would be the 3 I would prefer out of this group!

Hi Jeff,

I have a non strategy-related question:

Which stakes should I be playing (online cash game)?

CONTEXT:
I was very lucky professionally. I am now retired at 40 and financially set for life. One of my dreams has always been to play poker full-time but I never had the time before (i.e. very busy professionally).
Now I do and my starting bankroll is potentially high.

However, I am objective enough to know that I do not master the ins and outs of poker quite yet. I am not a fish, but I am still learning and struggling with tilt and winner tilt.

Should I try to "beat" every single stake, starting with 0.01/0.02 and make my way up? Or would you recommend I start at higher stakes directly, like $1/$2 or $2/$5?

Part of me wants to prove that I am progressing by beating the small stakes and climbing up.
But another part of me is feeling that (at 40 y old) I am wasting my time and, if I want to play poker seriously, I should already start higher.
The micro-stakes players are so different from the higher-stakes player that I feel everything one learns in the micro should be thrown in the trash when moving up. Why waste the time with Micro ??? I would have to "re-learn" as I go up anyways...

What do you recommend?
That is awesome congrats! I think $1/2 is a happy medium. This would be live though I would say. For online I would say maybe .25/50 to learn for cash and maybe $22-$109 for mtt. Spending some money to learn is okay but not need to go crazy. I don't think micro's would get the blood flowing at all and at the stakes I mentioned should be good way to dip the feet in the water. Best of luck! Keep us posted on the progress and come say hello when I am on twitch streaming!

Good day Jeff.
In a micro MTT how would you play pocket jacks if in UTG and UTG+1 ?
I usually raise to 4 blinds and wait for the flop before going bigger or not.
Hello! I would raise 2.2bb assuming you have a playable (+20bb stack) and play as normal. I would not suggest changing the bet size of your hand based on your cards or that would be predictable for your opponents quickly! Be consistent w/ this.

Hi Jeff,

So the winner of the pokerstars wcoop $5k main event 2018 (wann2play) was denied his title and money after investigations from pokerstars. Do you know which pro was behind this account (picture of wann2play looked a bit like luuk or joris), and is this account and his (or her) original account banned?

Kind regards Busto,
Hello, I am not aware of this situation or who was involved. Doesn't sound good!

Nice, so they can't get a read on my hand.
Thanks

Hello Got a question

Do you lose a lot on the river like i do??

Example: Flop and turn - Kh 9d 8s - 5s My hand - 9 h 9s Opponent - Ks 6d

Im in the cut off and my opponent calls on the button. Preflop raise 2.5x the bb opponent calls. Flop hits and i C bet half the pot 818 and opponent calls. stack sizefor me was about 7k and my opponent had 12k before we started. When the turn hits i check and he bets the king and i shove all in and he snap calls. And then the river falls and i am sad face because it was a 7 cant really remember the suite on that one i was sunk in my own chest. These types of losses happen to me almost everytime i get a monster like this and no joke almost everytime.
Let me know what i am doing wrong or am i just the unluckiest player lol!??!?!?!
