hey jeff,

my question is, is it better to play as many hands possible in a tournament to increase the odds of catching something good or, is it better to bet aggressively on hands where your cards are higher value and overall better?
I would def say it's better to play less hands & stronger on the good ones. It really depends on what hands your being dealt though. You should play close to the appropriate opening ranges. Sometimes you may get many playable hands in a tournament and sometimes you don't get many. Having less huge hands can mean going deeper or doing better, each hand is a puzzle! It's up to you to make the best play in the best spot!

Do you think playing 1 0f 6 hands is too passive to see a decent ROI.

lol are you trolling me for losing some massive equity pots lately all in pre w/ AA on twitch :) Well I can tell you one trick is to thin the field, going multi way with aces makes it much less likely to win!
This is great content. I had to get it trough my head that hold cards do not solidify you winning the pot.

Hello, Jeff. Do you play both cash games and tournament games in the same session? And is it possible to combine these disciplines at the same time?

Hello! I generally don't do this although think would be possible but not recommended. Generally I play online mtts and some cash on an App normally but not the same time as on diff devices. I have in the past done both though!

Yes this is true! It helps to play good starting hands & fundamentally sound poker but certainly that doesn't mean you will win the hand!

Hi Jeff, what are your thoughts on playing Re-buy games? I do nots seem to have much luck in these games. I see a lot more all-in hands played. I have been playing low buy in games. I now see that the site shows how many re-buys and it looks like there is about 25% or more of the players did.

Hey not the same Jeff! It varies lot on amount of time spent studying. I think a good way to think of this is a % of playing and studying. An ideal ratio is about 50/50!

Re entry tournaments are a hot topic right now! This could be that is you are not re buying or changing your style of play at all to adjust for the differences. In this format more chips will be available & likely players are playing much looser. If you plan to not re enter if get knocked out that's okay but just realize that if you play the same way likely the overall style will be more aggressive and you will likely find yourself on the shorter side more often.

Hello Jeff Gross, I recently find my self bringing my self to the same question, after you take a bead beat from multi-tabling, I find myself getting flustered and aggravated, how you you control your composure and remain calm in situations like this,

Why is it so hard to find an online tournament with a normal structure and without rebuys / re entries?
I remember 10 years ago I could find many "normal" tournaments at pokerstars and Party. And I felt I had more control over my bankroll grinding the same MTT's.

WTSD and W$SD: how many hands do we need?

Hi there Gross, how you doing? I have a doubt here and I count with your kindness to help us.
I would like to know how much can we trust in stats such as WTSD, W$SD and WWSF at micro and mid limits for 6-Max Cash Tables. I confess that I don't even use it. However, I see many friends here risking their necks with these kind of information.
Which volume of hands played could be really reliable for us to use these stats, for bluffing for example, in a deep stacked pot in the turn? Are we getting stacked a lot times having only the statistics on our side?

"WTSD (Went to Showdown) tells you how often villain goes to showdown. If this is very low it tells you that he often folds before showdown and goes to showdown with good hands.

W$SD (Won $ at Showdown) tells you how often villain wins at showdown. If it is for example low it means he often sees showdown with not so good hands.

WWSF (Won When Saw Flop) Tells you how often villain won the hand after seeing flop."

Hi Jeff ,

Happy New Year to you and to your family :)

The question is #731 / page 15 (you can see the # of the post in the upper right corner).

or I can post it again!

Thanks!

I will repost the question here :)

Hi Jeff ,

Thanks for replying my previous question!Personally I find it more exciting to make a last second's time bank decision and be right but I have to admin that a successful bluff is the ultimate feeling but I play in small stakes so my opponents can't find very often the fold button or maybe I am not good at bluffing haha .

I have a more serious question now.

Sometimes I play some bigger buy in tournaments for my bankroll [max $33] and sometimes I register in the early stages where the blinds are super small compared to the initial stacks.People are more aggressive, they 3bet more , they flat they re-raise etc. Some players 3bet a lot , I guess they are well balanced to do that?!?!

Some days ago I was playing one of those , I couldn't play my game because there was always an aggressive player who has acted before me or a weaker one who has open limped. I was playing something ridiculous like 11/6(vpip/pfr) over 100 hands!!!! I was able to make some flats with some disguised hands but whenever I had the opportunity to open raise I was card dead. I am not a tight player I know what hands to open raise based on my position and my stack.

Is this lack of experience? Should I apply pressure with more marginal hands in position?Should I fight back?I really try not to play scared , whenever I register in one of those tournament I want to play my A game no matter the result. But in the past whenever I fought back they always have monsters and I got eliminated.

Are they so good and they know how to ''build'' early on their table image by 3betting light in the beginning and the 2nd and 3rd time they always have it?

It's a very general question and I guess a more advanced one but I struggle because I don't feel confident about my decisions.

ps. sorry for the long text:)
