If by read cards you are referring to putting your opponents on a hand range this will be done w/ getting reps in.

Volume is key! I always got the concepts down of constructing a range and being creative and would be discouraged at times, but this just tells me I'm going at it right, I just have to see it all the way through

Yes Tilt is a big part of poker. Many players play a solid game the majority of the time but they have a really bad C game. This comes w/ practice and mental toughness. Teaches own; I would suggest picking up if you feel yourself heading in that direction or take a dinner break or walk it off if you feel this emotion of tilt entering inside of you!

I remember reading how Chip Reese's A game wasn't as good as others, but he was able to win alot because his C game wasn't a big drop off from his A game. Other people's C games were way worse than their A games and he was able to take advantage

Jeff's answer:
mental toughness; willingness to take risk when they believe there game is ready to move up stakes. This was discussed recently on a podcast i did w/ BenCB789

Seems mental toughness is super underrated. Might be on par with skills to become a winning player

This is a pretty ambiguous question but can try to tackle it. I think in general you can attribute many factors in what constructs a poker player. Experience & fundamentals are paramount. Being able to deal w/ the mental side of the game is huge as well. Bankroll management is also underrated & managing tilt factor. These are some of the things to look at when comparing poker players abilities.

I honest feel you should always focus on yourself and yourself only, not comparing yourself to others. But it's nice knowing what a poker pro thinks what makes him a pro

willingness to take risk as well as discipline. Taking time to study not just play for sure.

Heh... Being creative clearly pays in poker despite the risks. You get over your fear of the risks even when those risks come to fruition. By doing so you're getting rid of your inhibitions while realizing maybe there's no such thing as a bad bluff. Your opponent can have a wide range, but only can call with top of his range which is just a fraction of all possible hands he can have in that situation. It just so happens he had it. Majority of the times he won't tho.

Def feel helps in sniffing what you can get away with, but your feel won't always be there to help. You then have to rely on analysis. Feel is an added bonus. An extremely valuable bonus, but a bonus nonetheless

Hi Jeff, thanks for offering to help with this thread.

Today, roughly an hour into playing .02/.05 - 6 man zoom poker $1 buy-in, I had lost to what I think are called bad beats three different times. Each time it was down to two of us going all in. The first time I had pocket aces and an ace in the flop, we went all in at that point (with the computer showing I had a significant advantage in percentile). I chose to proceed instead of the "cash out" option that poker stars offers and he ended up with a straight. Similar situations with the other two rounds with me having the upper hand when going all in. I know bad beats happen, but the amount of money lost today makes me think I'm doing something wrong.

Would you have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

I actually have another question, Mr. Gross.

Playground is hosting the World Cup of Cards in January. One event is a $100+$500+$60 bounty tournament. So, the bounty prize pool makes up ~83% of the total prize pool.

How would you approach such a tournament? Surely, people will be eager to get it in, but of course, with good reason.

So I think I'm an average player and honnestly I don't play that often But when i do I manage to cash on MTT like Sunday Storm or Mini million but i feel like my game is limlited so I can get that one deep run in a big MTT. Do you think not studing enough is my problem coz I really hate that I only watch streams sometime see hands reviews on YT that's it... I feel like if I start studing and taking courses like everyone else i will be in the mold and my game will be the same as everyone else... Does that make sense? or me going crazy? ;))

Have you ever played so tired that in hindsight you realized that you made an obvious mistake on a hand?

Appreciate the kind words! So in this hand I would re raise the button raise and go w/ my hand this shallow of a stack (35bb). If you flat that's okay option too but would just fold to the BB re raise then or go all in when he re raised, I WOULD NOT FLAT .29c w/ .77 total. Then on that A high flop I don't see why to jam all in, this is not a good flop for your hand. I would play this hand differently for sure.

Yes! Many times. Online this happens more often as playing an assortment of tables at one time. This is how we must be honest with ourselves & find ways to be constantly improving!

My largest success is in private cash games. I don’t like to mention specifics there but in tournaments it is public info & you can see my results. My largest score is $414,000.

Yes many times! Mistakes happen especially when multi tabling (while twitch streaming)!

This really depends on the situation, each time is different! If you give me an example I could give you my thoughts on that specific situation!

Playing higher tournaments from micro

Hey bud, wondering if you have any quick words or anyone's long winded video to point me to that focuses on the 11$ to 100$ tournament range. I have been winning small sattelites to play that range but am too tight and only min cash so far.
Keep Crushing and thanks

Hy jeff, we talk a lot on Facebook Cardchat page. I have a question for you as that is my massive problem on poker tables.. when you are in tilt because of a loose against a 5-4 and you had aces.. how do you control that moment. I have a big issue with that when I go in tilt I ruin all my game play.
Cheers jeff :))

Hi,
My question is: How did you start your poker career? And would you say that it is an easy job to pursue?

Hey there! I started w/ friends in 2003. I have a bio on my website, jeffgrosspoker.com/bio also for more on this. It's not an easy job to pursue but def a way can generate some supplemental income and have a blast in the process!
