i enjoyed the OP man, definitely in and good luck!

Thanks!

I think some do. Some think they're ahead with the A though. Counterfeit 108 or Tx. You have essentially the second nuts, so I'm guessing he flipped AA here but we can't fold. We might as well fold 88 pre if we are going to fold middle set on a super juicy board with two straight draws + a flush draw in a straddled pot. F him if he flips AA

I mean, I always thought the reasoning of "well if you folded this here, you should just fold XX preflop and wait for aces!!" to be kind of silly. Just because we have middle set and the board is wet doesn't mean we have to gii in a spot where we are absurdly deep.

I just disagree pretty strongly with the fact that this particular guy would snap gii with just any AXhh here. And some convos I've had with other people I respect have me feeling like this kind of player might not even snap gii with two pair. Dunno though. I still called ldo.

I think even if I did the work and determined it SHOULD be a fold, there's almost no way I ever find it in game.

yeah i'm not folding essentially 2nd nuts for 200bbs at 2/5. He can have literally heaps of combos, draws, other hands.

I don't think it's silly either necessarily. I see what you mean, but I don't think were so insanely deep it doesn't apply is all. Again, i'm never folding and I don't think folding is right either.

From the dead I am reading this thread. Never fold 88 IMO. We are way too strong and he can have things that aren't sets.

Maybe a thread revival coming on? Couple exciting things.

First off, I FINALLY finished my recap of my deep MSPT run (yes, from ALL the way back in April 2015). Check out my blog page here on CC where you can find all 4 of the parts: https://www.cardschat.com/blog/author/mattvaughan/

I'm hoping to pick up the pace with blogging, ideally to the point where I've got something getting published every week or two, but we'll see. I want to keep my expectations realistic.

In terms of poker in the near future, I'll be heading to Michigan this weekend for the MSPT at Firekeeper's. The main event last time around smashed all non-Vegas MSPT records, with 820 runners generating a $174k top prize. I'll be driving out Friday night, then playing the Saturday afternoon flight.

Other things coming down the pipe too, but I'll leave it at that for now. Stay tuned - maybe I'm just in time finishing that blog so I can start on the new one about true binkage!!

Thanks, Benji! :)

Get our podcast up and running yo

I would love to get this going, for real. I have a lot going on these days so idk how realistic it is to make it happen in the next few months, but it's something I want to do.

The other thing is that I'm not sure the podcast I'd want to make is the kind of podcast CC'ers would listen to - and that would need to be the whole point for CC to bother.

Good Luck in Michigan. If I can work up my live game enough before mid november, I might play in the mspt at potawatomi. Unlikely that I will be comfortable enough with my play though.

Thanks. Unfortunately I busted in pretty gross fashion.

Hopefully see you out in Milwaukee! I should be there for the MSPT myself.

it wouldnt absolutely have to be for CC regulars to enjoy, if it attracted new members that would be enough

Fair point. Hand analysis seems like the thing I'd be most competent at in terms of podcast topics, and also more interesting than just like, idk strategy discussion in general.

Not sure where I'd even find guests to interview or whatever but I could give that a whirl too. Just seems hand analysis requires the least start up energy and is the most sustainable.

Hey, new member, caught up with the last 1/3 of thread as well as OP, keep it up and hand analysis pod sounds fun to me!

Not like you need any superstars on for it to be a successful Podcast.

Anyway will be keeping up with thread as well as keeping an eye out for podcast

you want to spark up new members... how about cardchat merchandise like tops and caps... sounds silly but some of us would be happy to wear and it would be quite warming to run into a fellow cardchatmen or lady and could be a fun social aspect

This is already a thing. There's already a CC store with merchandise. Unless they took it down (I can't easily find it right now).

FYI, I'm a long-time member, but I don't really speak for CC lol. If you're worried about the store not having exposure, I'm sure Debi or Nick would be interested to hear. :)

Personally I wear a CC hoodie probably 60-80% of the time when I play poker - more so when playing tournaments. People don't ask about it very often, and I don't want to be "that guy" going out of his way to strike up conversation about his own outfit.

Haven't posting much about cash these days since it was going incredibly poorly. A lot of it was true run bad, and for the most part I was playing reasonably well, but as it stretched longer, I started to play worse, which contributed. I had something like a 14 session swing where I booked only one win, right in the middle, and it was only for $130.

But I'm happy to report that I've made a major dent in my downswing by booking my biggest single cash game session win while playing my normal Friday night home game. It was a round-by-round-by-round, playing NL/PLO/PLO8.

The game played pretty normal in the NL rounds, but in the PLO and PLO8 rounds, there was a TON of straddling, and people got VERY deep. (For hours I was 2k+ deep with 2 or more other players.) And they allow multiple straddles there, so this alleged 1/2 game was 1/2/5 about 30% of the time, 1/2/5/10 about 30% of the time, and 1/2/5/10/20 about 20% of the time during the non-holdem rounds.

There was even one hand that went 1/2/5/10/20/40. There were several limps before a player made it $120. Several players called, including me with AJJ5 with a suited A. The flop was 234ddx, giving me the second nuts but no draw. The pot was already about $500, and I ended up getting in another $600ish against the bare nut flush draw and holding. (I learned after the hand that one player had another two diamonds in their hand, and another had another FOUR diamonds in their hand. If I'd lost, I would have been unhappy. :) )

Anyway, it feels good to have a buffer before the next potential ATM trip, but my next planned poker outing will be to Potawatomi next weekend for the MSPT. I'm on quite the dry spell in tournaments, so hoping I can turn that around this coming weekend.

On a side note, as PLO8 becomes a larger part of the games that I play, I'm looking for content to improve my game. I am a CLP subscriber, so I'm watching some vids on there, but looking for other stuff too. I don't think many people in this thread play PLO8, but just sending out some feelers.

On Mondays at 2100 WET there is a playmoney CC PLO8 homegame hosted by Evertongirl on pokerstars that I play in regularly to practice. There's usually 3-6 regs.
But you could set up your own private game.

Pokerstars pro Adrienne Rowsome aka Talonchick specialises in this and I've watched a few of her twitch streams.
She won the $2,200 PLO Hi-Lo event at the 2016 PCA. So if you wanted someone to learn from you could do worse than look up some of her material

Thanks guys! Duggsy you know I'm always down to chat, but not on Skype much. Hmu on Facebook sometime.

Managed to survive the rush hour traffic Tuesday, and drove out to Milwaukee to play a satty to the MSPT. Took two bullets, but I got my seat, so first bullet on Saturday is coming at a bit of a discount (and feels already paid for).

I've got some big news upcoming soon in this thread, but I'm not sure yet how I want to present it. I'll probably end up being lazy and just stating it outright, but I kinda wanna do something more fun. We'll see if I can muster the energy.

Anyway if you feel like it, check out msptpoker.com and click the bright green "Live Updates" button on Saturday to follow the action, and me. Chad usually takes some time to at least grab my chip count once in a while, and occasionally a hand of mine makes it into the live blog. And they pretty often grab a picture of me as a "familiar face" in the field. I've gotten pretty complacent with my twitter game as of late, so msptpoker.com is probably your best bet of getting updates on me lol. If I should be so fortunate as to make day 2 I might pick up the slack and tweet a bit.
