Nice vlog scourge.

Just curious, what are you using to edit at this point? Also are you planning on doing any recording during sessions?

I've actually been toying around with the idea of one as well at a home game I frequent. Only runs twice a week though.

Would be nice to see some live hands including your thought process as the hand plays out if you're comfortable and able to so in the future.

Look forward to future episodes man keep it up.

Enjoyed it and interesting how you identify yourself firstly as a poker player and then as a guy with a 9-5. Like the CC touches and your delivery is easy on the ear. So moving forward obviously some poker content, maybe a session review and some hand analysis to show how you're thinking about the game. Good luck.

Hey everyone, thanks so much for the views and thoughts! Quick book-keeping note: I actually started a vlog thread on CC to keep vlog-related stuff in, and post new ones to. I may keep posting them here for a while, but I may just post them there, so I'd recommend subbing to this thread so you don't miss anything:

https://www.cardschat.com/forum/poker-goals-challenges-wins-46/amateur-poker-player-vlog-311491/

Or just, y'know, sub on YouTube. :)

I enjoyed the new Vlog. Thanks for posting it!

Enjoyed the vlog.

Thanks guys!

Thanks! Right now, and for the foreseeable future, I am using the iMovie free version that's included on my Mac. It's sufficient for the editing that I'm doing right now, but some day I may upgrade.

I WILL be recording some live poker hands soon, and doing some kind of commentary over it. I haven't decided on the best way to do the commentary, but at minimum it'll be voice over with the video running.

I got permission from one of the home game hosts to do this, and I'll have to clear it with the players there first, but I'm not super concerned about that. For the casino, not sure the next time I'll be there, but I'm hoping to include that SOON since it's obviously a big part of what people enjoy and want to see. I also like hand review/analysis so it should be enjoyable to do. :)

Thanks! Yeah poker has been a big part of how I identify myself for quite a while now. The CC hoodie will def make MANY appearances in future vlogs - prob won't show much more of my mouse pad, but who knows haha.

Showing live hands is a BIG part of what I want to do in upcoming episodes, but it may not come for a couple weeks since I'm not sure the next time I can play (with the holidays in full swing). I could definitely do a more in-depth session review sometimes if I don't get hand footage as well.

So a bit of a sneak peek into things I'm hoping to include are:
- Shots of Madison
- Some timelapses (but I'm new at them so they may be terrible)
- Live poker hands
- Review of the poker scene in Wisconsin (probably separate vlog)
- Talking about poker/new year resolutions (probably separate vlog)

One last quick thing is that likes, comments, and shares go a really long way toward helping a channel grow, especially when it's just starting out, so if you enjoy it, don't hesitate to hit that thumb up, and pass it along. :d Love you guys, keep up the feedback and letting me know what you'd like to see. It's really helpful!

Thanks duggsy, that means a lot. Currently collecting some holiday footage, and hoping to do some more editing today and tomorrow. Been really dreary so dunno when I'll get any real footage of the Madison area.

It's a lot of work but I'm really enjoying getting into it. Never thought I'd be so eager to learn and get better at all this shooting and editing stuff.

Nice vid, I do want to question some of the HA tho, I don't necessarily mind the AK check on the AJ2 flop but I'm going to need a better reason than those given, unless we think he is betting exploitably often against our checking range, its a straightforward bet imo. especially on a board where we can check AJ/AA for range reasons and still have 3+9=12 combos of it.

AA im kinda torn going to listen again and think about what to do.

firstly nitpicking its incredibly convenient for us to preclude JTs/QTs/JKs but also consider hands as weak as 22 in his pre flop calling range. that kinda seems like a post hoc adjustment to me.

That said it looks like a flop bet to me, but I'm not as thrilled about multiple barrels as he should theoretically have more Jx in his range than us.

Turn is weird, on the one hand this card connects with our range much more than his, but on the other hand barring our exact combo it doesn't actually flip the tops of our ranges over. I would also be betting here small hoping hands like QhQ/KhK/Jx or even the occasional bluff call, we still have plenty behind its 550 with 750 behind so i probably go like 180-200 and let him make bad calls. for example what are you doing on the turn with AK (both with an without the K heart?

now with practical crit, a few suggestions,

1/ include relevant stack sizes in the text, what you have already is super helpful and i like, that was just the one thing i was missing .

2/ try include your generic range in pre flop spots, it makes it easier to see where your analysis is coming from

3/ try to talk about which cards you plan on continuing on/giving up on, what you will do v a raise etc. gives you a bit more meat to talk about with each hand.

otherwise good stuff

Well shit. I wrote a big long response back to you... and then it was lost. I'll try to do cliff notes.

1. Fair. I was trying not to clutter the screen but it's pretty important info and having it visually is a lot easier than just hearing it.

2. I doubt I'll do this. I don't think anyone is really "studying" my play, but I still want to limit how much detailed info I give about myself. I also see that other successful vlogs barely go into hand analysis at all - they mostly just recap hands rather than analyze them. That's not to say that has to define how I do my stuff, but I'm a bit worried about losing too much of my audience if I go really deep into hand analysis. Not aiming to be a source of training material as much as fun/entertainment of some kind. To be fair, I am very much still trying to find my own ideal balance though.

3. Kind of similar to 2, but is a little less over the top and I think people will get it/like it more so maybe I'll try to beef it out like that. Also already felt like I was rambling, so I don't know yet if I want to create longer vids where I spend more time on each hand or not. We'll see.

AK: I didn't think it was actually that defensible to check, which was kind of my point. I was more trying to explain what I was thinking in the moment. It really speaks volumes to how different my thought process is in different spots:
- In-game
- Post-session analysis but still talking off the top of my head
- Writing a forum post where I have as much time as I want to think and analyze

AA: I just perceived his range to be way more PP-heavy in these kinds of spots, since that's what I tend to see live. But I may not have been giving him enough other hands I guess. The other factor was that I didn't think he was even opening hands like JTs/QTs all the time necessarily based on how often he was limping vs raising. I like your thought process on whether or not we should be barreling, and I might take too unbalanced a line in this spot where I'm checking almost everything that's improved and betting everything that didn't.

Hey guys, I migrated my channel - you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZFCWcm05eudgbd-pLD7slQ

I also created a facebook page, so check that out here: https://www.facebook.com/mEVpoker

I also have two new vlogs posted - check them out and let me know what you guys think!

Keep in mind I'm keeping the "strategy" and hand analysis content to an absolute bare minimum for these live hands to keep them flowing and see how that's received. But I may do more detailed hand analysis in the future too. Feedback welcome and appreciated!

Congrats on the move!!! Did the GF move with you? You just missed the Borgata series. Any plans to get out to places other than Maryland?
