Well, we lost in extra innings today 4-3 to the Cubs. Dang. Just ended on the east coast, about 8:00. This would have been a great game to win but we just could not get the timely hit. Played from behind most of the game till it was tied in the eighth. On to Atlanta for a weekend series now.

Go Nats! :bath:

I'm still rooting for Washington vs Boston world series. I'm hoping the Nationals can string together a couple wins and secure a playoff spot. Go Nats! Go Sox!

A drunk in a bar sees a dart board. He grabs a dart and lets it fly. Perfect shot, bulls-eye so he turns to the bartender and slurs, "wherze my prizze"? The bartender searches under the bar and cannot find anything to give the drunk. He has a turtle in a box in the back and gives it to the drunk, and the drunk leaves. A week later, the drunk once again comes into the bar and grabs a dart and gets another bulls-eye.
Again he says "wherze my prizze"? The bartender has nothing and asks "what did I give you last time"? The drunk thinks and says, "Roast Beef on a Hard Roll"!

That would be sweet! But gonna take a great run. We are a long way out right now to get a wildcard. Could happen. Up right now 5-0 but it's only the 3rd inning. We will see.

Well. we managed to beat Atlanta 5-4. Harper had his 34th homer and Rendon
had one too, both 2 run shots. Tomorrow and Tuesday we are in Miami, then a 4 game set against the Mets in New York,

Go Nats!

Washington managed to beat Miami last night, 4-2, Harper had FIVE walks. Amazing.
The magic number is now 5. 5 Atlanta wins or 5 Washington loses and we cannot beat them,
Wildcard chances are slim as we near the end or the regular season. Off tonight and then the Mets come in for a 4 game series.

Washington lost to the Mets in a wet game yesterday. It's going to be rainy all week in Washington, last home stand and don't know if they will be playing. The post season is out for the Nats so I have to find a team to back in the playoffs.

Good seeing you tonight LJG. Nationals won their last home game tonight over Miami. On to Colorado for the last series. Think the Nats can keep Harper? The guy I know in North Beach served on the carrier Oriskany

Colorado won last night 5-2, making the playoffs. It was only 52 degrees in Denver last night, not great baseball weather. Strasburg is pitching tonight in a hopefully warmer evening game. Only two games left, them the playoffs. Sadly, the Nats will not be there.

The Washington Nationals season ended tonight, 12-0 against the Rockies. Nats had a great beginning of the season, died in June and July, and had a decent August and September. Just too much ground to make up, We finished second in the NL East.
Maybe we will be better next year, some good players were found. Over the winter the Harper situation will be settled, I hope he stays in Washington. I'll update this thread with any news. Great hanging with you Nat supporters.

Well. the world series is over. Hats off to the Dodgers and Redsox for getting there.
Boston showed the world that they were a truly great team winning the series in 5 games. It was a great showing for them and they deserved the win. Shame that the series was not Boston and Washington! Maybe next year? Go Nats!

The big question is what day in Nov/Dec do the Cubs sign Bryce Harper?

Been awhile since I posted. maybe the Cubs will win Harpers services. The Nationals have made an offer of 300 Million, yes Million! for 10 years so I guess this is where the bidding starts, Scott Boras, Harpers agent, wants him to see what other offers come his way. We may know by the end of the year. The Nationals also may be offering a contract to Anthony Rendon, He is playing out 2019 in the final year of his contract. I hope it would be possible to keep both. More to follow.

This is aimed at the starter of this thread and anyone who wants to chime in.
Now that the season is over, what are your thoughts on the new manager?

He seems a little lost when you see his face on TV...

Hi, that's me johnwat2 . I enjoyed doing the thread all year, and will continue next year, I love the Nats. Dave Martinez did an adequate job in my humble opinion and I think he deserves another shot. Was he a great manager? Probably not. Was he a bad manager? I don't think so. I think he has the respect of the players and that's good.
What are your feelings? Are you a Nats fan?

Go Nats! :lollypop:

The Nationals signed Kurt Suzuki to a two year deal yesterday. Kurt is from the Atlanta Braes. We really needed catching help after last year. Matt Wieters was a good defensive catcher but not much offence. Kurt had about a .270 average last year and we need that help late in the batting order. No news on Harper yet.

Go Nats!

Yesterday the Nationals acquired another catcher, Yan Gomes, from the Cleveland Indians. Last year he had 16 home runs, 48 RBI's and batted .266. Gomes , along with Kurt Suzuki (recently acquired from Atlanta), will be a great catching combo for the 2019 season. The Nationals are still looking for a starting pitcher for next year and Harper is still in limbo.

Today the Nationals signed Patrick Corbin to a multi-year deal solving the hunt for a starting pitcher. Corbin came from the Arizona Diamondbacks and is a two time all star. Corbin will back up Scherzer and Strasburg in the starting rotation.
Looks like a great rotation. The Harper situation is still up in the air. More to follow.

That's cool Nats are making moves. Although losing Bryce is still a huge set back. Getting Corbin was a good move. Me being a Cubs fan, I'm hoping Bryce signs with us. All his trolling online with Chicago gear or references is hilarious but hopefully he picks a damn team soon!

I think we will get Bryce's decision in December. Four teams are supposed to be in Vegas presenting their offers and the Cubs and one of the teams.

The Nationals have signed Matt Adams to a one year deal for 2019. I always liked Matt and was sorry to see him traded to the Cardinals late last year. Matt will be backup first baseman for Ryan Zimmerman, and can also play right field. He brings a good bat with homerun power to the lineup. No word yet on Harper.

Another pitching acquisition, yesterday the Nationals signed right handed pitcher Anibal Sanchez to a two year deal. Sanchez was with the Braves last year and went 7-6 with a 2.83 ERA. Getting a starting second baseman could be the final piece to their offseason shopping list. Could be an interesting 2019 season. No word on Harper yet

Go Nats!

Well, we got our second baseman for the 2019 season. The Nationals signed Brian Dozier to a one year 9 million dollar contract. Dozier was with the Twins and Dodgers last year. Brings some power to the middle of the order, he has 20 or more home runs in the last six years and hit 42 in 2016 with the Twins. The only pieces that I see needing attention for the 2019 season are possibly one more starting pitcher and one more arm in the bullpen. We might be okay as we stand. Now the BIG issue. What is Bryce Harper going to do? I would love to see him back as a Nat. I hear that Washington has offered more then the 300 million for 10 years, actual offer unknown. Lot of money for a 26 year old isn't it.

Go Nats!:)

Spring training starts in 3 weeks! Yes, time for baseball again. Can't wait!
Still no decision by Bryce Harper on where he will be going, I heard that the Dodgers

are no longer interested. :)

Yesterday, the Nationals signed pitcher Jeremy Hellickson to a one year deal for 1.3
million. Jeremy is a starter and pitched for Washington last year with a 3.45 ERA.
He had 19 starts for the Nats last year and had a 5-3 record. Gio Gonzalez, who pitched for us last year is still unsigned and could possibly be offered a one year deal also. Only two weeks to spring training! Still unanswered is what will Harper do?

Go Nats!:call2:
