Messi is the best player ever. He is a level above every player who played football. Arguments about that he didn't play in any other club than Barca is just stupid. It means you don't understand football and you don't know how much Messi influences on Barca's or argentina's games.
Ronaldo is just better in one big factor. His mentality. That's why he is on top. But Messi in clear football aspects like passes, dribbles, vision, influence at team on pitch as footballer, not motivator, etc. is just much better than Ronaldo. That's why Messi used to be compared to best players in history, and Ronaldo only to Messi. That's huge difference.
Messi has just big bad luck that Barca and Argentina sucks overall as a team in last few years. If you would watch Barca's, Argentina's every single game you would see that Messi is a beast. It seems like he plays alone there a lot of time. But for that you need to have a little knowledge about football. Not only looking at statistics or team victories in CL because thats stupid. Ronaldo actually had a team. And with VAR they wouldn't even get to the finals in last years at least 2 times.
Messi is the most underrated player ever. That's a fact. 5th place in last Golden Ball Award proves it as well and it's a big joke. Because he still was the best player in 2018. If we would look only at football skills, not team awards which has big factor for many individual awards (next ridicilous thing in football) then Messi would have at least 10 golden balls.
You will never see a better player than him. And many of you will actually appreciate his skills when he will end of his career.

neymar has no place in the company of messi and ronaldo! i personal think ronaldo is the best player in the world - not only has he transformed himself from winger relying on speed to attacker. Also he master all aspects of soccer here meaning heading, messi may be marginal better of some technical aspects but ronaldo almost there and messi cant head at all! ronaldo can turn a game alone and lift lower lvl players to new lvls - messi cant turn a game unless he got support from other strong players best shown on the argentinian national team - he constantly fail because the supporting players simply not good enough and he doesnt manage to lift their play! yeah messi can lift other strong players like neymar and suarez but completely hopeless if they are tier three or four.

you mentioned itself messi is a beast on argentina national team and that is exactly why he is not the best player - or even close when it comes to picking all time! the world best player should understand soccer is a team game and you have to lift the other players game/spirit and not demand doing it all yourself - afterall that is exactly why argentina is so easy to play and dont win anything - all the other players just give the ball to messi and start watching soccer - put a man and another backup to messi and you beat argentina.
messi is not a leader - e.g him vomitting because he is nervouse like he did in his younger days just show he is not a leader and will never be it in the same way ronaldo is. messi is trying hard but in that part of the game he is miles behind ronaldo. and the talks about goals and assists doesnt really mean that much when another playing have almost the same numbers but just shine in so many other aspects of the soccer game where messi is failing big time.

not saying messi not giving anything to argentina - and you are right without messi they would perform much worse. just saying messi do everything himself and not able to lift the team! and in purely in the perspective who is the better soccer player messi or ronaldo that simply disqualify him as the best. he should be able to setup his coplayers to run (at least some times) in the right pahts but if you always do it yourself, other players stop running in the open space. also he should be able to adapt to his coplayers not running in the optimal spaces etc. but clearly it is his way or not. exactly when you watch argentina it is mexmerizing how bad the other players play as a team!

actually the argenntien national team looking at each player isnt that bad - but there is no team! and again purely in the PERSPECTIVE who is the best soccer player messi or ronaldo - ronaldo is in the top of all aspectives of the soccer game, including team play! just look at ronaldo in his young days once he got the ball he never played it back just running towards goal and try score - he developed into the worlds best by improving his team play and now lift the entire team play and in the progress dropped the rolling act neymar cant let go.
