Good on him, well done Alex.

Shows the racing and competitive instinct is still there.

Definitely have to admire him, and all others that have overcome such enormous changes in their lives. Hardly seems like 11 years since his accident, and is he really 45 years old? Still think of him as a young rookie in F1 ...

He was lucky to live considering how many men CART has killed since they abandoned the IndyCar moniker. They have no love for drivers.

Go Alex go...

According to Will Buxton, the rumor is that Hamilton has threatened to leave the team at years end and take Michael's seat upon his retirement.

I usually don't stick around for the podium. But never at Monza, especially with a Ferrari on the podium.

Mclaren had another sub 3 sec pit stop. If Perez only had two more laps. He was coming.

All in all it seemed like the little boys grew up a notch after last weeks fiasco. Great side by side racing. I finally enjoyed a race this year.

Leave it to the Italians, right? :)

Yes, if Perez had couple more laps, or if he had just pitted a couple of laps earlier ... could have been Very interesting ideed! Good job!
Good race by Alonso also, even if he did get some help from others dropping out.
Mega bad luck for several front-runners, Button, Webber and Vettel (tho he is not one of my personal favorites. hope Webber can at least finish ahead of Vettel!)
Very entertaining race! Best of the season?

Singapore, what a boring race.
Qualifying was much more interesting.

Another sub 3 second Mclaren pit stop.

Other than that... WTF is F1 even doing at this place? Just a tube with no runoff. If it were Monaco, I could deal with it.

Wasted week for F1.

I tend to disagree - yes, it was a fairly processional race out front, but through the rest of the field I thought there was some good close racing and a heap of exciting moments.

I think the spectacle is definitely something worthy of F1 too: the location, the lights, the heart-in-the-mouth moments when they're just inches from the walls... in those terms, give me this over Korea or Bahrain any day of the year. And that's before we even get into the business reasons for being there.

Yep, I'm with you on that :)

6 races to go, and only one driver has truly been constant with his decent placings, podium finishes and points, Alonso. But will he get pipped to the post by one of the others ???
What a season it has been!

*just catching up now*

Wow, didn't see Perez signing with McLaren coming - I thought Ferrari were grooming him to take over from Massa?

Will be very interested to see where Michael ends up now... maybe back with Ferrari? :p

Yeah, probably that.

I really can't see him continuing racing unless it's with a top, respectable team and there aren't many of those kind of seats left for next season. Off the top of my head, this makes all the seats at Mercedes and McLaren locked up for next year... same at Red Bull too? That only leaves the potential for Massa's seat at Ferrari when it comes to Schumi-caliber teams (other than Lotus/Renault, maybe?)

The other big question in my mind now is dammit, who else could we replace Massa with?!? As great as I think he's been for the team, I think it's clearly time we replace him and up until now I'd figured Perez was going to be the one to do that job...

Massa has come out today "before" his 2 nd place in the Japanese GP and stated he will be racing for Ferrari next year.

I like F1 but don't know loads, isn't it weird someone would sign for a team 6 races before the end of a season?

Nah, it's pretty standard that the driver market for next season sorts itself out around this time of year.

I'm sure it probably creates some weird situations inside teams for the remainder of the season (I expect McLaren will have all but stopped talking to Lewis about their 2013/14 cars, for example) but if they don't get in this early then all the good drivers/seats will already be gone.

As for Massa thinking he'll be driving for Ferrari again next season... *facepalm* Please Stefano, please, tell me it ain't so. We need someone better in that seat. Alonso can only do so much on his own.

Massa is quick, Alonso is just one of the quickest ever. Who would you say is quicker than Massa and readily available?
