Welcome to 888poker’s Weekly Deal, with all the best news, results and insights from the past week.

THIS WEEK: March 4, 2018

Another GREAT 8 Title for “kozirok_bel”

The $88 buy-in, $40,000 Sunday GREAT 8 attracted 364 players who rebought 144 times, which created a prize pool of $40,640. That was paid out to the top 48 players including to “SkallePer58” (23rd for $394.20), “Zarzoor912” (13th for $548.64), “Hanzokid” (6th for $1,524), and “.Boby.” (3rd for $4,368.80).

After 10 hours and 17 minutes, Belarus’ “kozirok_bel” defeated Switerland’s “KoppyAA” in heads-up play to capture a $7,823.20 first-place prize. Just over a month ago, “kozirok_bel” finished runner-up in the $15,000 GREAT 8, good for $2,517, and a week before that won the $5,000 Lightning 6-Max for $1,899.

“McNugget123” Wins the Whale, Martin Jacobson Finishes 5th

The biggest buy-in tournament of the day was the $1,050 Whale, which easily surpassed its $100K GTD by drawing 90 players who rebought 45 times. That created a $135K prize pool that was paid out to the top dozen players including Roman “Romeopro33” Romanovsky (11th for $3,375), 888poker Ambassador and 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Martin Jacobson (5th for $9,450), and “Gull53” (4th for $12,825).

After former Whale champ “birdgamecray” bowed out in third place for $18,900, Canada’s “McNugget123” and Finland’s “IEATFISHIES” battled it out for the title and $37,125 top prize. The former prevailed while the Finn had to settle for second place and a $24,975 consolation prize. Back in June 2016, “McNugget123” took down the $50,000 Volcano for $17,673.

“eltxupacabra” Wins Mega Deep for More Than $20K

The $215 buy-in Mega Deep saw 407 players take to the virtual felt and rebuy 132 times. That created a $107,800 prize pool that was paid out to the top 56 players. Among those to earn a piece of it but fall short of the final table were XL Blizzard Opening Event champ Jans “Graftekkel” Arends (52nd for $431.20), Jonathan “JohnFoot” Proudfoot (27th for $722.26), Anton “B.Mitchell” Wigg (10th for $1,757.14).

After “pokerdave128” hit the rail in third place for $11,319, the title came down to “POTITOOOOOOO” and “eltxupacabra” in what turned out to be an extended back-and-forth affair. After 11 hours and 23 minutes in the tournament, the latter came out on top to win $20,482.

“HellChicKKen” Wins Sunday Deepstack Swordfish

The Sunday Deepstack Swordfish cost $30 to enter, and with 679 players accounting for 169 rebuys, a $25,000 prize pool was up for grabs. That was reserved for the top 90 spots, and among those to earn a cash were “9killa” (36th for $112.50), “ppinel” (23rd for $125), “nomoney4ever” (11th for $275), and “bakalaka123” (4th for $1,875).

After just over 11 hours, “HellChicKKen” defeated “Agharazi” in heads-up play to win the $4,687.50 first-place prize. It was just the latest success for “HellChicKKen” on 888poker. Last month, he finished fifth in the $10,000 Sunday Deepstack Monsoon for $846.80, and last November won the $5,000 Lightning 6-Max for $1,239.79.

“kozirok_bel” Nearly Captures 2nd Sunday Title, “kl0nkarn89” Wins Monsoon

The $55 buy-in, $15,000 Sunday Monsoon saw 256 players rebuy 50 times and cleared the guarantee by creating a $15,300 prize pool. The top 36 spots got paid and included “venatel” (29th for $114.75), “Fukuruku” (19th for $130.05), “OPH1UCHUS” (8th for $382.50), and “yellowsnow99” (4th for $1,300.50).

After GREAT 8 champ “kozirok_bel” fell in third place, good for $1,728.90, it set up a heads-up match between Sweden’s “kl0nkarn89” and Ukraine’s “chssk.” After 7 hours and 47 minutes, the Swede came out on top to win $3,128.

Hello everyone,

It’s the second tournament series of the year for 888poker LIVE, and we went huge!
The Main Event absolutely obliterated the €288K guarantee bringing in €360,192 in prize money with 469 entries.

Our city of choice, this time around, was the lovely “Little Paris of the East” Bucharest in Romania.

888poker LIVE Bucharest spanned 6 days – 28th February through 5th March.
Opening Event, Main Event, Bounty, Ladies, High Roller, SPK, Turbo Deepstack and more (!) were all played out, delivering non-stop poker action.

Hello everyone,

Tomorrow is International Women’s Day and what better way to celebrate it than with an in-depth discussion about women and their role and experiences playing poker.

We spoke to four influential and popular female poker players about their poker accomplishments, how they feel the poker community can attract more women players and what they like to do off the felt - amongst other topics.

If you’ve ever wanted to get inside the mind of a female poker player – here’s your chance!

Welcome to 888poker’s Weekly Deal, with all the best news, results and insights from the past week.

THIS WEEK: March 11, 2018

“sweet_dr34ms” wins $33,550!

The tournament attracted 84 players who rebought 38 times, which created a $122,000 prize pool.
The top dozen players got paid and included 888poker Ambassador Sofia “sofialovgren” Lövgren (12th for $3,050), Niklas “tutten7” Åstedt (7th for $5,185), Roman “Romeopro33” Romanovsky (5th for $8,540), and two-time XL Inferno champ Anton “anteen” Bertilsson (3rd for $17,080).
Eventually the title came down to two Russian’s, “sweet_dr34ms” and “josef_shvejk,” and after 8 hours and 29 minutes in the tournament, the former came out on top to capture a $33,550 first-place prize.

It was the second win of the year for “sweet_dr34ms”, who back on January 4 took down the $5,000 Lightning 6-Max for $1,800, the same event he won a month before for $1,500.
Meanwhile, “josef_shvejk” was denied his third win this year on 888poker. Back in February, he won the $15,000 Turbo Mega Deep for $4,940, and then a little over a week ago took down the $15,000 GREAT 8 for $3,675.

XL Eclipse Champ “Ezreaal” Takes Down GREAT 8

The $88 buy-in Sunday GREAT 8 saw 377 players rebuy 134 times, which helped surpass the $40K GTD by creating a $40,880 prize pool. That was paid out to the top 48 players including Preban “prebzzz” Stokkan (48th for $196.22), “ZDamian” (18th for $396.53), “Lucky_Frutti” (10th for $715.40), and “psyhoagromor” (5th for $2,146.20).

Once Argentina’s “Pepepepepe.”, who won the XL Blizzard Main Event, exited in third place for $4,394.60, Romania’s “LevelingMode,” a XL Eclipse champ, and Lithuania’s “Ezreaal” squared off in heads-up play. After 10 hours and 12 minutes, the Lithuanian prevailed to capture a $7,869.40 first-place prize.

“Ezreaal” is also a XL Eclipse champ after he defeated the aforementioned “ZDamian” in Event #72: $20,000 Monsoon for $3,838. He’d go on to finish runner-up in the XL Eclipse Event #151: $20,000 Monsoon for $3,341.

Sweden’s “ChicknWaffle” Clains Sunday Mega Deep Title

This week’s $215 buy-in Sunday Mega Deep saw 370 players take to the virtual felt and rebuy 116 times, which offered up a $100K prize pool. The top 48 spots got paid including “Garlic888” (23rd for $970), Robin “Inho” Ylitalo (18th for $970), “Mrpiink” (9th for $1,750), Roman “Romeopro33” Romanovsky (7th for $2,750), and “Hanzokid” (3rd for $10,750).

After 11 hours and 22 minutes, Sweden’s “ChicknWaffle” defeated Germany’s “OINKOinkOink,” the XL Blizzard Event #17: $100,000 Mini High Roller champ, in heads-up play to win $19,250. Less than a week ago, “ChicknWaffle” finished second in the $22 buy-in Deepstack Starfish for $875.88 after a heads-up deal with “ColdCoffe15”.

Croatian Stud Ivan “nomoney4ever” Banic Proves Up for Sunday Challenge

The $109 buy-in, $50,000 Sunday Challenge attracted 339 runners who rebought 129 times. Among the 48 players to cash it were “shag72” (23rd for $485), “Pepepepepe.” (14th for $675), “bluffmagic” (8th for $1,125), and “cuadrado12” (3rd for $5,375).

The tournament, which last a minute shy of nine hours, came to an end when Ivan “nomoney4ever” Banic dispatched “jancsi89” in second place for $7,125. The Croatian added $9,625 to his bankroll for the victory.

Back in September, Banic won the XL Eclipse Event#30: $15,000 Lightning 6-Max for $5,070. In the live realm, Banic has amassed $342,057 in tournament earnings, which puts him third on his country’s all-time money list.

Mega Deep Champ “Enl1ght” Adds Monsoon Title

The $55 buy-in Sunday Monsoon attracted 247 players who accounted for 63 rebuys. That created a $15,500 prize pool, which was paid out to the top 36 players. Among those to earn a piece of it were “wheelguy00” (32nd for $116.25), “billy3lliot” (15th for $209.25), “Senta99” (5th for $899), and “djmtm” (3rd for $1,751.50).

After 7 hours and 35 minutes in the tournament, Russia’s “Enl1ght” bested the UK’s “bkrrr” in heads-up play to win $3,169.75. Last July, “Enl1ght” bested a field of 491 entries to win the $100,000 Mega Deep, which debuted a new structure that day, for a smooth $19,000.

Has anyone else noticed that they have lowered the prizes of all the most accessible tournaments for players that are starting?

The daily challenge that used to be $ 15,000 was lowered to $ 12,000
The mini Daily challenge that was $ 2,500 now $ 2,000
The Monsoon that I do not remember if it was 15,000 or 20,000 is now $ 10,000 !!

Well, I think that this policy is consistent with what they are doing since the beginning of the year, getting away more and more from the beggining players.

I Have some serious question for 888Rep here. See, i've seen a lot of players bragging around to be upgraded to VIP level, Elite or whatever, before making it to level 100, however, i'm at the level 134 at this very point and still nothing happens. I know you have your account reviews and so before making a decision to upgrade a player to VIP level but frankly, starting this year i made a stunning jump for about 70 levels and nothing happens? How, why? I really feel that you guys just do not treat all players equally and frankly i do not feel welcome to your site anymore. Besides, every single request i had forwarded to your support team was rejected easily and my play through is beyond sick in last couple of months. Got me thinking that i should just leave 888, go elsewhere to play and start a blog about how you fellas treat your players quite differently...888 poker username: Nspire888
