How long do you think Pokerstars is able to keep their Sunday Million event?

I hope pokerstars never closes down, it's my favourite site, but as they say all good things come to an end
pokerstars is definitely superior to others, with their software, format, and the mixed games.
I think all they need to do is have their regular clients get a new name and a new start.
That would clean up a lot of old clients that have pass away. And give their regular a fresh start.

I hadn't played any raked games for months on pokerstars but I was regularly checking their site to see what was new. I was surprised a week ago to be offered a challenge that was a real good one. It was called an exclusive challenge and if I played in 5 spin and gos with at least a dollar buy in I would get two free 5 dollar spin and go tickets. So I had to do that. I got offered the challenge every day for a week and it wasn't there for me today. I made about $140US. So I guess it is worthwhile checking in once in awhile because you just never know. Anybody else get offered that challenge and do it?

As accountants say, you should always balance the debit with the credit. )
Unfortunately, I do not have enough information on this matter to say something sensible.

I've never played a Sunday Million satellite as I don't play bounty tournaments, but if they're profitable I'll look into it.

They seem to have changed their strategy and they fire many additional $5.5 smarties with 25 tickets each.

The one currently running has 80 players only and still ~20 mins late reg. 🤑

They ended up with 269 players, so still a decent overlay.

91 remaining and I'm sitting 3rd in chips. 😎

But still some way to go with the 3 min blinds. 😮‍💨

Got somewhat UL when I jammed KQs, got called by KJo and we split the pot on a two paired board.

Had no real other choice than to "jam" my last 1.3 BBs from SB with KJo. I was sure that BB would call but not with AA. 🤣

Polemically speaking: Tournament poker is essentially a waste of time better spent on cash games where you can join or leave as it suits you.

Hey forum,

I'd like to discuss the top of how long the PS flagship even will be called Sunday Million.

In case you haven't seen it yet, PS has a huge overlay in their satellites and still, on the last Sunday tournament there was an overlay of $61k USD, which is 6% of the total prize pool.

Their Sunday Storm event has already been reduced from a guarantee of $100k to $80k only.

If you have some free time on Sunday, there's definitely a good chance you can get in the tournament quite cheap. I got in by playing one $2.2 and one $1.1 sattie both with huge overlays. 🤓

Let me know your thoughts!
Thanks for the useful information! And regarding SM, I think that with such a policy of PS, the guarantees in it will continue to decrease, and soon it will be called Sunday 500k:)

PokerStars is definitely superior to others,
PS WAS superior to other rooms. That time is over and everyone who doesn't see this is obviously in denial

Ouch ! You have my deepest sympathy, finishing 28th with 25 paid.

I know.

I was thinking about trying to fold to ITM but I'd have 0.8 BBs left and ante was 0.2 BBs. So I'd have had 3-4 hands left and not sure if that had worked out. Who knows. 😅

Everything will be fine because we will always have online poker available - it doesn't matter what it's called or pokerstars or pokerstars2 or pokerstarsX......

I had a similar thing awhile ago but it was a $109 buyin satty
It wasn't too many off the the bubble, I was super short and in SB and woke up with a decent hand. I was busy in other games and stupidly didn't have the other satty tables open (so I could see which of the shortest stacks would be about to hit the blinds before I'd ante out). I forget what I had now but I ripped it in and lo & behold, BB woke up with AA, calls.. I'm out. Less than a minute later and I'd have made it ITM. At the time, facing what felt like a very close decision, with a very short timebank, I figured "I get it in here, and if BB calls I'm likely way ahead and IF I hold, I'll win 100%... if I fold.. 'maybe' I don't get there? (isn't it always seem to be the way that the shortest stacks just seem to keep on doubling through other players who are making some really bad calls (as if they're trying to win '2' tickets in a satellite where only 1 ticket can be won, lol).
Lesson learned for me >>> PAY ATTENTION, giving yourself the best chance at all times. Have all of the other tables open as you're approaching the bubble and know who's facing going out ahead of you.

gl in the next one! Maybe I'll see you there!

Yah I don't know about that. Tournament poker players who don't regularly play cash games are pretty much just donating money on cash tables.
Higher percentage of bad players playing in Tournaments vs. cash games online.
Players are still able to play online MTT play (even at low stakes depending upon where they reside) and make a living at it. For cash game play, I think one needs to aim to be able to play at a bit higher buyin levels to make it worth it (IF intentions are to earn a living wage from it).

Either it's a mistake/bug or they came up with a new strategy to minimise/avoid the overlay:
They doubled the main satties:

Not completely true at all. Many people hate playing cash and only play MTT's. Personally I play both and am I winning player at both. With that said if I had to choose only one style to play I'd choose MTT's hands down easily because I enjoy MTT's way more. I only play cash because it helps smooth out MTT variance and allows me to buy-in into and take shots at bigger buy-in MTT's then I'd normally play. Cash tables to me are only a means to any end.....I play them because it affords me the option to play higher buy-in MTT's.

Cheers!!!

It is probably because I am a bad tournament player😉

It's sad to see that less than 1000 people register, where did the million fund come from? (there's no way). I played last Sunday storm Sunday and there were I think ok over 6000 players, they even exceeded the guaranteed amount. It's sad and I think this Sundaymillion will disappear soon with all PokerStars 🤔.

but for now pokerstars is more powerful than for example 888 which only offers its crappy freerolls and low guaranteed tournaments

and in pokerstars you can find big guaranteed ones for $11 like sunday storm and others, but 888 even for $109 can barely shake a 100K guaranteed one

Why did the $16.50 Big Fish TOURNAMENTS that many loved so much disappear from 888?
I guess they became big shot 16.50? One factor to consider though is field size. On pokerstars the prize pool is diluted by large fields. A $100k guarantee for 109 can actually pay very well on 888.
