Ive quit online poker

Im really happy with my decision to quit online poker. Its strange that i quit right after i qualified for the freeroll club. In addition to quiting poker ive also decided to never wager real money on any sort of betting or gambling online or in real life. Im very happy about this not that i had any sort of problem with gambling or betting. Best wishes to all.

Not sure where to post this stuff since it's about traffic in the aftermath of Black Friday, but I figured I would share it. It's the weekly summary from PokerScout, which is kind of the industry standard about this topic>
Post-Black Friday performance
Overall, the worldwide online poker market shrank by 22% in one week. Most of those losses came from the Big Two: PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker.
To assess the consequences of the US online poker crackdown, we looked at weekend traffic the week before Black Friday and compared it to the weekend immediately following the crackdown. We also looked at the next weekend (Easter weekend) to see how the sites are faring in the new online poker environment. Highlights and notes:

- Cereus Network has lost nearly 2/3 of its traffic

- Full Tilt Poker managed a startling comeback after Black Friday. The reason is unclear, but it may have something to do with FTOPS XX which is underway. In any case, the site has still lost over 1/3 of its traffic.

- Among the remaining US-facing networks, the largest are also growing the fastest

- European sites have not posted especially strong gains since Black Friday

- The second weekend was Easter weekend, when traffic is naturally lower than usual

Big Movers

Since Black Friday, Cereus Network has fallen from seventh to 20th place. 888poker has moved up three spots from 11th to eighth. Merge Gaming Network has gained eight spots, landing in 12th place after starting in 20th. Bodog has leapfrogged three sites, moving from 25th to 22nd.

all because of 1 man, us is banned from online poker

Its all because of Bill Frist that we cannot play online poker in the United States. he is the sneak who added the ban on online poker and sneakily added it to a ports bill so noone could see it. he did this only to further his own interests, and did not care of anyone else's interests, although he will say he did it to protect innocents. The way he did it is why he is the scummiest politician. He just sneakily added it to a bill that was going to protect our ports against terrorists and he knew that the bill was going to passed no matter what and noone could object to it if he added it without anyone knowing. He is also has the reputation as the most corrupt politician, according to one pole i saw on the internet. Thanks to this scummy man, Bill Frist, and the shady way he made online gambling illegal, it stops the millions of players who want to play online poker. What a corrupt individual. Shame on you!

I guess they'll probably end up opening the doors to US players even if it is just for the taxes...

You haven't read this thread very closely then. Because it's been said 100 times. The sites themselves decided to pull out of the US market because the cost of doing business here is just too high now.

So the DoJ isn't stopping you from playing on Stars/Tilt/UB but their action led the sites to stop you from playing. It's also for that reason the VPNs are not a solution. The sites themselves no longer want you as a customer so they will actively be seeking out those trying to get around the regulations. Using a VPN is very likely to cause you to have your funds confiscated.

That's not entirely true.
The sites decided to temporarily pull out of the US market initially. But now the sites made the deal with DOJ to let US players to get their money back, in return those sites will ban US players to play for real money permanently.

Absolute poker on the other hand did not make the deal with the DOJ like the other 2 sites did. Instead absolute poker decided (for now) to fight the charges. We should donate money to absolute poker for the fight.

I have two responses:

1 - Haven't they already taken (stole) enough from the poker community?

2 -

I'm going to do the polite thing and just assume that you know nothing about the history of Absolute, UB and the Cereus network. The one good thing that may come out of this would be the complete collapse of those scumbag sites.

Donate money to them? I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

As we discussed a few days back, whether or not players are included in the provisions of the UIEGA depends entirely on how broadly one chooses to interpret the term "engaged in the business of betting or wagering". Players aren't specifically named but they aren't specifically exempt either.

LOL, tenacious if nothing else.

Reading this article...http://www.tightpoker.com/news/absolute-poker-fights-back-with-lawsuit-2423/

The first paragraph says that as part of the agreement FTP and PS agreed never to offer gambling inside the U.S. again.

Is that really part of the agreement?

No it isn't. It is until things change in the legal climate tho.

I know FTPdoug said:

3. i am assuming i will get my account money back eventually, but what i am worried about is ft points, medals, and iron man status.

- Yes, you will get your money back. If/when US players are able to play again in the future, we will preserve your continuing months for Iron Man (and Black Card status if you have that). Nobody will be penalized in those programs for not being able to play because of this.

Dear ******,

In light of recent developments, PokerStars is no longer offering real money play to residents of the United States of America and its territories.

The PokerStars Cashier is now available for you to cash out the funds in your real money account balance. We strongly recommend that you use the bank transfer option; to use it, you will need to have your current banking information at hand.

Please note that due to the expected high volume of cashout requests, we anticipate a delay in processing and delivery of your funds. Rest assured that your funds are safe and we will process your request as soon as possible.

Please contact paymentservices@pokerstars.com if you experience any issues.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Regards,

PokerStars Support

Yep, Stars is offering cashouts. I have an eCheck on the way, but they said expect delays due to volume of cashouts, lol.

and exactly...this was the information i was looking for can u verify it or cite your source?

this basically means that the pokerstars and FTP execs being charged just sold out USA players for their domain rights, lower lawyer/defense fees, and lesser penalties/jail time??
....and last but not least(and prolly most importantly), they sold out all of us american poker players so that the rest of the world could continue to feel safe keeping money/playing on their site....and they could continue their long term goal of dominating the emerging global market.....this is it for USA players officially then, there will NEVER be pokerstars or fulltilt again, period.
