I dont like to keep too much in my poker accounts, as it could get confiscated, stolen, the site goes bankrupt etc, plus you dont earn any interest on the money.

Having lots of money on my poker account makes me uncomfortable, not comfortable!

I tend to withdraw down to around 12 cash buy ins (i.e $300 as my main stake is 25NL). Let it grow up to $500 or so, withdraw and repeat. Never needed to top up, but if I do it's fine as the money I have withdrawn previously is still part of my poker bankroll.

many don't consider it 'blowing it on poker'.... instead you could think of it as an investment ;)
It can be an investment for some that have the ability. :) I know my limit, I don't have the patients anymore.

The amount of money allows you to make the most important decision: at what rates to play in order to maximize your winnings and not go broke. I think $700 will be enough.

The more the better, but I like that there is more than 1 K !
For me, poker is just a hobby, a good entertainment in the evenings after work. I don't need money to have fun, 888 has a huge number of daily and especially evening freerolls. Although my bankroll averages $30-$50.

For me, a comfortable amount of money on my account is 30+ buy-ins when I play cash games. For example, if I play NL 10, then my bankroll should be $300+, usually it's $500 for me. If you play in tournaments, it should be at least 100 buy-ins for the tournament you are playing. For example, if I play tournaments from $5 to $10 most often, then my bankroll should be at least $1000 and preferably $1500-2000.

Actually I think it depends on the limits that are played. I understand that if you play micro limits a 1000 usd baknroll is quite comfortable. But maybe if we talk about low or mid limits it should be at least 4000 or 5000. It's an opinion that I have.

$250-$300
Such a bankroll allows me to play the tournaments in which I want to play and not stress or worry too much. Such a bankroll allows me to feel more free from a psychological point of view and allows me to work step by step towards achieving my long-term goals.

depends on the limit you are playing, if you play tournaments, then I think there is no point in holding more than 300 hundred buy-ins, because you can go play at higher limits and if you are not ready for the level of players of this limit, you may end up wondering how to fill your bankroll

The amount of money in the account depends on the limit on which you play, but of course the more, the better. But lately I haven't been saving a lot of money in poker rooms, just a small bankroll for inexpensive tournaments.

In principle, 20-30 dollars is enough for me. I can even play when the account is zero, but when it's zero it's kind of sad in my soul, so 20-30 dollars is quite enough to start :)

I don't have big needs, I'd be fine with $100 right now.
From that you can already start in smaller tournaments, which could be built on.
This would be more than enough for my needs (at the hobby level).

Depends of the buy in you play, normally 5% of you bankroll is nice, if you are a winning player.

I don't really play cash games, only tournaments, the more cash you have, the better. But as long as you're in the top 50% in terms of ranking than you're good.

100 entries seem to be very comfortable, so you can play calmly.

I stick mainly to what the pros recommend for a bankroll based on stakes play.
50 buy-ins for cash
100 buy-ins for MTT's

With that said as a rec/hobby player with those amounts in my account I can play whatever sized MTT.....I want even the Sunday Million if it's a one and done and still have enough money left to play and rebuild again without going busto.

I also have never trusted any poker site with more then 5k in my account. Soon as my account reaches 5k+ it's withdraw time. From there it sits in my CIBC account ready and untouched till I have something big I wanna spend it on. My CIBC account is also kept completely separate from all my other bank accounts and money. It's used only for poker and online purchases and I don't do much online shopping. It's basically for poker.

Cheers!!!

according to your formula, if I want to play, for example, Sunday Million for $100, then I must have at least 10K in my account

Not my formula. Comes from winning professional players. But yep if you're gonna grind the Sunday Million(as a winning player) every week endlessly and don't wanna risk going busto that's what you need.

I'm rec/hobby player that plays weekends and some evenings. It's doesn't hurt me a bit to take as shot at the Sunday Million now and again with a much smaller bankroll. I haven't gone busto in 15+ years and that wasn't because of taking shots higher. It was because I wanted to really challenge myself by going from 2nl-50nl starting with $10(only 5 buy-ins). Found out I need at least $20.

PS....Back in day you use to need over 20k because it was a $215 buy-in. It was also a way softer field so you could get away with a bit less. Maybe 15k.

Cheers!!!

You definitely need that much money in your account to feel safe, not to play tricks, and when you have good cards to be able to judge correctly and not distracted by any kind of problems, so I think at least a hundred times the stake you play.

I like 100 buyins, but if I am comfortable with the site protecting my funds I may have more. This allows me to move up in stakes and to take shots.

If I am uncomfortable with the site protecting my funds I will hold less.
