Well, the Main Event would of course be fun as an experience.

And it has the added "bonus" that you can be a poker celebrity and a part of history.

BUT: The chance to go all the way (or even to the final table) in the Main is very small.

So I would use the money in the smallest fields possible and available. And preferably cheaper tournaments so I could increase my chances to cash and get some money out of this.

I also increase my chances for a bracelet in a "hellmuthian" way by playing many small fields.

There would be more chances of winning by entering multiple events with smaller buy-ins. The series is several weeks & it would be fun to be playing as much as possible rather than waiting for the main event if I even survive the flight to the main event. :ROFLMAO:

If you were given $10,000 to spend on WSOP event entries, would you put it all toward a single Main Event ticket or enter multiple events with smaller buy-ins and why?
I would play as many tournaments as possible with a minimum buy-in in order to stretch out the fun and increase the chance of winning. :)

The ME comes to mind first ofc.. but I love mystery bounty Games.

So I would buyin for multiple flights to Mystery Millions for the chance of having a big stack in day 2 when the bounties kick in .
Flights A- D
That would leave me 6K still and a great chance of increasing my budget If I cash in the Mystery Millions

With the remaining 6k I would book a nice suite in the Caesars Palace where the WSOP takes place. :)

I would probably play the main event. I really enjoyed watching it in the past (i dont watch too much poker anymore). The old footage of highlights with the day 1's was just great great..

Nowadays everything is shifted more in direction livestream and i dont have the time and patience to watch that.

Definitely play as many tournaments as I could at lower buy ins and enjoy the whole experience.

Yes, main event...But some others events with lower buy ins are not bad.

I'd say smaller events. The Main Event is one of the later events (81 of 99 this year), so you could cash smaller events early and buy your way into the Main later.

I am going to withdraw $9900. $100 bankroll is more than enough for me. And besides, I'm going to play our CardsChat freerolls :)

With $10,000 playing in the main evert would be great but with the same amount of cash I could also live the dream of playing the WSOP like a professional at the lower levels. I would play the 13 events below. Why? 13 options and chances to play poker is why. While the odds of winning are small, I would have a much better chance of cashing and winning overall with 13 shots. Also, the chance to play poker for the summer would make this an easy choice for me. Also with the chances on my cashing be better I could add more tournaments to the list. The $777 and some 1K events could be added with a cash or 2.

Event #3: $500 WSOP Kickoff No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout

Event #17: $800 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack

Event #20: $300 Gladiators of Poker No-Limit Hold'em

Event #46: $1,000 SENIORS No-Limit Hold'em Championship

Event #54: $1,500 MILLIONAIRE MAKER No-Limit Hold'em

Event #62: $600 PokerNews Deepstack Championship No-Limit Hold'em

Event #67: $500 SALUTE to Warriors - No-Limit Hold'em

Event #70: $400 COLOSSUS No-Limit Hold'em

Event #78: $1,000 MINI Main Event

Event #80: $800 Independence Day Celebration - No-Limit Hold'em

Event #82: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Event #84: $600 Ultra Stack No-Limit Hold'em

Event #99: $1,000 Super Turbo No-Limit Hold'em

So with $ 10k from this years schedule I would play:

Event 54: $1500 Millionaire Maker No-Limit Hold'em
and a second shot for the Millionaire Maker
adds another $1500
Event 98: $1500 No-Limit Hold'em -The Closer
Event 78: $ 1000 Mini Main Event
Event 84: $ 600 Ultra Stack No-Limit Hold'em
Event 70: $ 400 COLOSSUS No-Limit Hold'em
Event 43: $1500 Mixed: PLO Hi-LO 8; Omaha Hi-Lo 8; Big O
If eligible (I am older than 60)
Event 46: $ 1000 Seniors No-Limit Hold'em Championship
Event 59: $ 1000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold'em

That should sum up to $ 10 K

I would definitely invest in lower value tournaments, the odds would be better against variance.

Main event, If it's given it's the right moment to take the biggest shot and make it happen!

I would definitely try multiples events to improve my chances to get money.
The main event is of course great but it would be a nightmare to be sucked out early in the tourney.
So I would multiply my chances to get ITM by joining several games.
I know it's an unpopular opinion, but it's mine :)

Instead of the main tournament, I think I would enter 8-9 smaller KO tournaments.....If I ever win 10,000 dollars, I will write down which tournaments I entered :)

Multiple lower buy-in events, definitely.
Event #3: $500 - Kickoff NLH Freezeout
Event #5: $1K - Mystery Millions
Event #17: $800 - NLE Deepstack
Event #20: $300 - Gladiators of Poker
Event #28: $1.5K - NLE Freezeout
Event #38: $1.5K - Monster Stack
Event #54: $1.5K - Millionaire Maker
Event #67: $500 - Salute to Warriors
Event #70: $400 - Colossus
Event #78: $1K - Mini Main Freezeout

With a few bucks leftover for a rebuy or two. Would probably see how those games go to change up my schedule.

OR ---

If I were to come in at the tail end of the series, I would probably do something more like this:

Event #70: $400 x3 bullets (1 for each day) - Colossus
Event #78: $1K - Mini Main Freezeout
Event $82: $1K - NLE
Event #84: $600 x2 bullets (1 for each day) - Ultra Stack
Event #93: $777 x2 bullets - Lucky 7's
Event #98: $1.5K x2 bullets - The Closer

I would rather put that amount of money on fire than use it on some LIVE poker thingy  ...

I agree with your position on avoiding something that is out of your reach, that is, being too ambitious. However, I think the issue mentioned here is to use credit earned on WSOP tournament entries and not to cash out.

The ME is of course every poker player's dream, but $10K is a nice amount of money that could get you a few wins in lower buy-ins. If I get my hands on that $10K a few days before the ME, it would be a great opportunity to try playing the maximum tourneys or even SNGs and see what happens.
If by day 1A, 1B or even 1C, I find myself with $20K or more, I'll definitely register for the "Dream Tournament", if not, I'll be happy with whatever amount I'd have (Hopefully more than $10K) and might even play some more smaller events...

Jeez... How many events there even are?
Playing in the 500 to 1.5k buy-in range would probably be smarter but would I have the stamina to do so
Putting everything on Main Event would probably keep my adrenaline flowing to the bitter end.
In any case I would probably be out of my league

Although I think it would be smarter to play the most possible games, it would worth a try to enter directly in the Main Event. It's the big dream to play such an event.
