I love playing at the Las Vegas Hilton--great rewards program and a very nice playing floor. They even have your favorite games available for small stakes. Rooms are pretty descent as well. Room service was quite quick too. The prices are obviously gonna be up there, being in vegas and all, despite the price the food was delicious.

Food in Vegas can range from next to nothing to "second mortgage" money. Some of the best buffets I've eaten at are the Bellagio, Aria and Red Rock Resort.....stay away from the Mirage....even for free, it was overpriced!!!
As far as regular restaurants, Delmonico Steakhouse in the Venetian was excellent.....expensive, but excellent..

Anybody know if many card rooms have free wifi? I will be going to a few casinos and I guess text messages will cost quite a bit for me (UK mobile to UK mobile).. I need to get on to wifi to use whatsap for free.

Edit, sorry should say I am not interested in top tier poker rooms as I gather the standard of play is better. Is there free wifi in places like Monte Carlo, Paris, Flamingo etc?

Stayed there about 25 years ago with my future wife. We got in late, went straight to bed... woke up in the morning and looked up - Holy Shnike! There's a mirror up there!

Needless to say we were both unimpressed with our images at 8AM staring back at us...

generally the casinos are all trying to charge for wifi in the form of their daily resort fee. it's a racket. but my AT&T LTE works just fine everywhere I go.

If you're going to Vegas to play some serious or long poker hours, avoid the buffets. You will over indulge and walk about feeling like garbage a couple of hours later and wanting a nap instead of focusing on the play. Learned that the hard way! :)

Reading all the posts makes me want to go to Vegas....but I'll have to wait for a better $Cdn to $US exchange rate. With the bank surcharges, it's almost $1.40 to $1.00....still better than a month ago $1.45 to $1.00

I just love the Cosmopolitan even though they don't have a poker room it is so close to everything and some rooms have balconys. I don't know of any other casino that has that. I just find the casino air so bad that it is great to have a room where you can get a fresh breeze. So nice!

Never stayed there, but played some blackjack in the casino. It is relatively new, clean, but I found it lacking in personality...it felt rather sterile. From what I saw, the clientele appears to me (over 60) to be quite young. Probably great for 20s and 30s/

I lived there for a few years. Most Hotels comp your rooms and food for a few hours playing, but you need to ask. I loved the M Hotel. The buffett s one of the best, with Alaskan King Crap and Prime Rib. They have a cute lil cafe too called BabyCakes, that has the best Gelato!

Favorite Vegas hotels?

What are your favorite hotels to stay at in Vegas? Last year I stayed at Bally's. It was very chill and I liked it. This June, I'm staying at Paris for 5 days! Pretty excited to stay there.

Eventually I'd like to stay at the Bellagio, Aria, and Caesars Palace!

MLife Player's Card?

Aria -

My room rates as an MLife member are usually $79 during the week and $129 on weekends.

The Aria is part of the MGM family and if you stay there make sure you get an MLife player's card.

While I have a few t-shirts, chips, cards, and assorted gift items from Vegas (a friend goes regularly) I'm sad to say that I have never been (yet). I was wondering, what exactly is an MLife player's card?

MLife is a rewards/loyalty card specifically for use in casinos and hotels under the MGM umbrella.

I'm an 80's aficionado, so I always stay at the flamingo. If I'm wanting to grab a drink and just enjoy the ambiance of a casino, there's not any better. Price is right, and consistent 80's pop music being played throughout serves me well. As for poker, I like playing at Aria...tourneys and cash are always good.

ask a question

One of my friend who is retired ... he wants to know if stay in LV for like 20 days during the wsop season...

which one looks better, stay in hotel or renting a house?
he lives in LA area, think ... travel back and forth through his own car is not a big problem for him, if any home emergency or whatever.

many thanks.

I think Debi would be the best source of advice on this, but I think the answer is - look into renting a house. There are several advantages to renting, not the least is that it is probably cheaper than 20+ days at $100/day average, and you get a lot of room to relax and cook your own meals. It also lets you "get away" from the chaos of the gambling districts.

Also, I'm not certain you can stay in one hotel in Nevada for more than 10 consecutive days... it has to do with "residency". I'm not sure... but I had relatives that would come out for the winter and have to change hotels every two weeks. Your mileage may vary.

The other option is do the RV thing and park it... but that may be even more expensive than the first two options.
