Leave the tourney, or keep playing! Life can not be compared to a game like poker. May be two lives depend on me, so I`m obliged to be next to my wife.

Suppose you are playing a big live tournament and have a decent stack 6 players away from the bubble when you receive a phone call from your mother-in-law saying that your wife's water broke unexpectedly and that she's about to take her to the hospital. You have no kids yet, you're about to become a father for the 1st time.

Leave the tourney, or keep playing??? Please give a couple of reasons, as convincing as possible.

For the ladies: Would you support your significant other's decision to stay and play to win, or would you demand he get to the hospital immediately?

Thank to @najisami for this topic idea.
Leave offcourse, this is a one time in a life situation you wouldn't want to miss.
Besides, with your spouse, mother-in-law and a newborn in a hospital room you are guaranteed a Full House.

I can hardly imagine that I would ever find myself in such a dilemma, as I would not risk not being there for my partner when our child was born - especially not because of a poker tournament.

But let's assume it was like this:

I would of course leave the tournament and rush to the hospital. A birth is something unique - as unique as life itself! I would consider it a bad omen not to be there, perhaps also at other unique, decisive moments in my child's life.

Think about the amount of nappies you can buy if you win

This is tricky question for me, few reasons...😂

Ont. If wifey isn't so shy, can she deliver baby in Casino lobby? 🧘‍♀️😇❤

HAHAHH, interesting.

Well, from my point of view, of course I'm going to support my wife. Especially if it's just me available.

Unless she chooses for me to stay in the tournament and win a good prize, but I would still be sitting out hahaha, maybe I would still join the ITM, who knows? :)

The easiest decision I will ever make after having nuts on river “leave”, doesn’t even matter 1st child or not. Family first, period.

Obviously my wife and new baby comes a million miles before a game of poker. Even I know that
and I have never been married. A human life comes before poker and a wife and child certainly would.

He must leave, of course. You can play another tournament, but you will never have the chance to see your child born again.

what a Question :) - a topic which could be the story of a hollywood romance!

i would say if somebody is playing big live tournaments rarely and you getting so deep @this tournament you should stay and go on if you know it can go on only for 1 or 2 hours. Usually there should be hours left or your child is born maybe 12 hours later so i think is is possible to find a balance between to play on and leave to arrive @ right time of birth.
If you reach 2 or 3 places better than if you leave immediately and having no problems with time management it would be great for your personal finance-
imagine you leave and then waiting 15 or even a day to the moment when your child is born.

In my mind it would be no question to leave if you know the birth of your child will be in the next to hours and you are the weakest player on table and you think no i wont get through the next 30hand - then it is an easy decision!

I would immediately leave the game and go to the hospital just near my wife, and our first kid. My wife and the baby are way more important than a game. If I can play good games I would do it again and again. The birth of my baby, a new baby, a new human is unique!

Difficult question, and I changed my mind in a process of thinking about it. Raising child demands a lot of resources. Without medical skills, I'm not useful in a hospital, so should stay and earn money for our family.

Leave the tourney! It's the miracle of life, because it's priceless and a unique experience. During the stages of labor and birth, our eyes and thoughts are completely focused on the attention that the moment demands and the pregnant woman is focused on her process. A true trance that will remain in her memory forever.
