I would definitely quit the tournament, there will be many more tournaments in your life, but then explaining to your daughter or son that you chose poker instead of coming to the birth would not be very good. I wouldn't even be able to continue playing poker after a call like that

Good arguments! I'm one of those who wished to continue playing since its almost the bubble. I have 4 kids & averaged 14 hours from water breaking to birth. The 1st being the longest. I would say pretty good odds to not miss my child's birth. Guess a gambler will always be a gambler.

I definitely wouldn't have been able to continue the game in such a situation, and knowing my wife's condition, I wouldn't have even been able to start the game. But I know a few guys who would probably continue to play in such a situation as if nothing had happened.

Easy question to answer and anyone who knows our story knows it too. I would leave the tournament with no regrets. The birth of my first born living child would be so much more fulfilling than wining any poker tournament even if is was for a bracelet.

To be honest, I would not even leave to play poker if this were to happen to me. After all my wife and I went through and lost, I would have given anything to have been there for the birth of my children.

Family comes first, especially the birth of a child.I remembered myself in my youth. 30 minutes later I was in the maternity hospital.This question has a deep meaning.

In other words, attitude is determined by actions!A woman finds out who she lives with.

When a child is born I don't care about the game . Although I was 18 years old, it’s an indescribable feeling when a child is born.

Suppose you are playing a big live tournament and have a decent stack 6 players away from the bubble when you receive a phone call from your mother-in-law saying that your wife's water broke unexpectedly and that she's about to take her to the hospital. You have no kids yet, you're about to become a father for the 1st time.

Leave the tourney, or keep playing??? Please give a couple of reasons, as convincing as possible.

For the ladies: Would you support your significant other's decision to stay and play to win, or would you demand he get to the hospital immediately?

I am not married now, but I would leave a poker tournament for no reason at all if my wife asked me to.
When you marry someone, you become one entity and you do whatever it takes to keep your other half happy.

In this life you never know what the future holds, or if there will be any future at all, life can end at any time.
I would have to be drug away kicking and screaming to miss the birth of my child.

I need to know more details, how far from home is the poker location? How far from home to the hospital? How far from hospital to the poker location? LOL! I think we should be able to work something out! LOL!

Perhaps we even find away to work the 1st and 2nd place winners names into our newborn's first and middle names, as long as I still make the cash! LOL!

I can't think of anything that can replace family. If I put it on the scale, I still choose family as my first concern and certainly the only one. So you should return to your wife and encourage her to welcome the child of both of you.

Well like all you said family first so run as fast as you can.
If you deep and ITM so you good and you can go.
And big buy-in tournaments plan ahead and all should be fine.

Well of course i would go if i was to get the call but i never have a phone with me usually i leave my phone in the car or it's not on when playing a game. But i'm sure they would send someone to get me asap anyway so there would be no choice but to leave.

I mean, I would never have put myself in that situation in the first place, but...if I were to find myself in that situation, there is no doubt I would be out of there in an instant. I could never forgive myself (nor would the missus) if I missed the birth of our first child.

That decision is very complicated, but I want to think that if it is for money and it is going to help me or change my life, I will stay, but if not, no, it is something that sometimes has to happen to you to make a correct decision.

Okay <3 Well I am going to make a couple assumptions but I am the one in this situation and this is how my response.


<3 My partner would not be at a tourney, he would be busy being dead for knocking me up at 48.
